I went in Saturday to the Outpost and bought a little LC9 for the wife for Christmas. They told me $369 for it. I waited for an hour and a half for my background to clear (something wrong with the TCIS, not their fault). I went back today and picked it up. The guys who worked Saturday weren't there and I told the girl at the register that they dropped the price from $389 to $369. The girl at the register went back and checked with the manager and came back and told me that she didn't know who told me that but that it was a special edition (pink) and they don't discount them. I told her I wasn't making it up and they didn't want to give me the benefit of the doubt I don't guess. She also charged me for my background check which I paid for on Saturday. She refunded the $10 but the look on her face seemed like I was lying again. I've spent probably close to 3k in there since the fall and stop by about once a week. I'm not very pleased. I've had good experiences lately at G&L, they will probably get my business from now on. I bought a Sig P220 at G&L for $830 a couple weeks ago. Outpost's price was $995....another reason why I will shop elsewhere. Although I did notice that the prices at the Hendersonville store at least on sticker are quite a bit less than at Greenbrier...what's up with that?

Is this thing out yet?

I've had a couple from VooDoo tactical and now have a Condor plate carrier. I'd recommend getting a plate carrier so that at least you have the option to use armor should the need arise. My buddy was in the army for 5 years and did several tours in Iraq and Afganistan. He wore his rig on top of his IOTV vest so that he could shed the weight if needed but still have his armor on. KISS is a good principle here. Find what works for you, make sure anything you put on the vest is functional for your use and is not dead weight. Once you get it setup like you want, actually use the thing and make sure all the pouches, ect are in places that allow you proper access.

Camo is camo and any woodland pattern will make you less visible, however I prefer multi-cam. It works in a variety of environments extremely well and just plain looks cool

How did you order that sticker? Their online store doesn't appear to be up yet. I did find something pretty funny on their facebook page...

Yeah, unload it in the car. Do you really want someone sitting across from you unloading your weapon...sounds like an accident waiting to happen...heck the TSA had an accidental discharge while clearing a .22 revolver that someone had in their carry on a few days ago. Besides that rare possibility, it's just better practice to do so as not to raise the bloodpressure of the check in person or LEO. I see no reason to carry at shows but if you choose to do so just keep in mind what the rules are and that you are breaking them. I'm actually glad they do not allow carry at shows. There are way too many un-trained folks handling weapons, pointing them all over the place and playing with them. I've been muzzled by so many AR15's and pistols at gun shows that if I thought any of them could possibly be loaded I'd never go to another show again...lol Now don't take me for a 2nd amendment hater, that I am defenately not...lol

Got an email from my office today that the NTSB has banned all hand held phone usage for DOT drivers. I've been hearing on the news that they want to ban all cell phone use, hands on or hands free in cars. Sounds great right? Save a few wrecks a year by inconveniencing the other 380 million of us...typical socialism. So they ban all usage....people like me who practically work out of their vehicles will no longer be able to conduct business while traveling. I'm sure this will be really stimulating to the economy. I can't wait for our interstates to look like parking lots because people are pulling over to use their phones. I'm sure all that extra maneuvering of vehicles on and off the roads to use phones won't create any more accidents right? The real problem is texting, which I don't mind not being able to do while driving, but talking on the phone hands free...now that's just going too far. Companies like mine will be spending a small fortune in extra man hours and fuel in order for their employees to comply with a crazy law like this. My work day would be several hours longer if I had to pull over for every phone call. My rant is over...lol

Kenstaroni replied to Builder Bob's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Got one too...you won't be disappointed in anything from Esee. I have a 3, 5, Junglas, and the machete. They are all great. -
I must say Nashville Sporting Arms went way out of their way this weekend to accommodate me. I ordered a gun and had it shipped there to do my transfer. I had it over-nighted and I showed up Saturday to do my background and take her home. We'll TCIS went down and stayed down the rest of the day. I hung out with the guys there all afternoon but no luck on the TCIS system. They new how important and special this firearm was to me and the owner offered to meet me today to let me pick it up. Chris came in on his day off just to let me pick it up so I could go play with my new toy, a gun he didn't even sell me in the first place. I have to say this was one of the nicest things any store has ever done for me. They have a customer for life!

I would really like to know if anyone encountered this and hear how it went. They say the neighborhoods were randomly chosen but don't list which one's they visited. -
Door to Door Preparedness Checks in Davidson County?
Kenstaroni replied to Kenstaroni's topic in General Chat
Exactly my thoughts...lol -
Anyone in Nashville get a knock on their door in the past couple days? Apparently "officials" have been going door to door doing emergency preparedness checks in Davidson county. This was also reported on Channel 4 and Channel 5 news. I'm not too thrilled with this.Oath Keepers » Blog Archive » Door-To-Door Assessment For Disaster Preparedness

Yay!!!...No more security at the Expo Center Shows
Kenstaroni replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
Bet the show was fun today with TCIS down all afternoon...I sat in a store for 5 hours today waiting and waiting.. -
Depends on the rules really, however usually high capacity 9mm's are the choice of many including myself. If you shoot larger calibers sometimes less time is added for misses, but if there are no restrictions on the handgun then it doesn't matter. At ORSA I used a G17 with a 33 rounder in it on a stage one time that had a large number of rounds in it. It may have put me in a higher class, I'd have to look but I don't believe so. Even if so have fun and shoot what you want. The way I look at it is run 3 gun in whatever works for you but that's mainly because I do it for fun. Recommendations: Glock 17 or 34 Good, reliable, high capacity options without "extended" mags in case the rules prevent, but give you an option for mag extensions and fun sticks. I prefer a Sig 226 with factory 20 round mags, but ran a G17 for quite a while and still use my G19 sometimes.

I went after Thanksgiving and didn't see a thing. Went last Saturday and saw two Doe's. They were at 350 yards and in brush..couldn't get a clean look. They seem to be moving more in the late afternoon than they have in the morning so far...at least that's what my buddies with trail cams have told me. Gonna try again this weekend and see what happens.

You'll be fine, a bag with a better rating will have more insulation but you're gonna be cold either way...lol Have fun, gear is great but using what you have smartly, even if it's from walmart, is usually more important. You can also put a blanket under you so that you loose less heat through your back. Usually the expensive bags are just lighter and less bulky than something from Walmart, that's mostly what you are paying for.

I'd get a fire going early and save a few good large "night logs" as I call them. Start by putting those large logs around the perimeter of the fire on two sides which will reflect some of the heat towards you. Don't burn them but put them close enough to dry out in case they are wet from the rain this week. Throw them on an hour or two before you hit the sack and get them going . The cold should wake you up at some point in the night, so I wouldn't worry about that...lol If someone else is going with you I'd bring an additional blanket to put over both of you. This will at least help you both share some body heat. I'd make sure you have a good amount of kindling or split wood left when you go to sleep so that if you stoke the fire in the middle of the night it will get going again quick. Build something big enough to keep you warm, but don't catch yourself on fire I usually take my pup with me in the winter...dogs make great tent heaters...lol Also sleeping bags work on the principle of trapping your body heat. If you wear too much clothing in your bag you can actually end up colder because the clothing will trap your body heat too much and not allow the bag to do what it's supposed to. Another thing to look at is the temperature rating of your bag. I usually go with something that's rated 15 degrees or more less than the temperature you'll be sleeping in. A 15 degree bag would be what I would want in this type of weather.

Dang dude, I've camped in weather in the 20's and colder many times but wouldn't go out without at least my northface bag and a tent...lol Be safe! The fire should keep most critters away.

Ahh so he created a new profile and tried to return huh? I am not trying to start anything here just went to send him a PM about a 1911 question and saw he was gone and couldn't figure out why. Whatever history is behind it was probably before my time and doesn't mean anything to me. I'm sure there are good reasons.

Looks like our buddy LesBear and his Ed Brown are no longer with us

Sounds like a good deal but not sure this really needs to be in the classifieds section...lol I'd recommend posting the handgun forum. $325 for any glock is a good deal especially a Gen 3.
