  1. Did a search, but didn't see anything posted on this show. Sorry if repost. Barrett Firearms on National Geographic | nashvillepost.com The family behind Murfreesboro-based Barrett Firearms — Ronnie, Chris and Angela — will be featured in a National Geographic special, dubbed 'Snipers Inc.', airing on June 27 at 8 p.m.
  2. if he had done it on a saturday night, it would have gotten bloody even with the police there. if he had done it on a saturday night when they were playing Auburn, he probably would have made it out at all.
  3. congrats! going by my experiencing buying a bike, don't buy in March or April. the dealers didn't have any motivation to sell since bikes are moving on their own at this time of the year. i wish i'd decided to get one around October.
  4. Sith, my mom is thinking I'm having one now....lol. I had ridden on a motorcycle once in my life before my MSF class. I was really nervous then and maybe more so when I first road my bike (terrified I'd drop it). Don't let inexperience scare you off, but definitely take a class first. After getting some experience I hope to go back and take one of the more advanced MSF classes. I'd love to go through the class with my wife as a passengermsince she's planning on riding with me eventually.
  5. Thanks to all the compliments and advice. I took my MSF class two weeks ago, and I'm still amazed at how much you can learn in so short a period of time. I spent an hour or so in the parking lots yesterday and today working on all the MSF drills. I ordered a Scorpion EXO yesterday, and my mesh jacket and boots should be here tomorrow. I will be one of those ATGATT riders. I've worked ambulances and the ER in the past, and I'm too much of a wuss to go through more pain than I have to. Smith, I got this one from Decatur, AL this past weekend, but if AMS has one now, I'm going to be annoyed. I shopped around here for a month trying to find a 2009 950 in silver. I even had those guys try to find one for me and have it shipped, but they could do it and stay in the right price range. Once I get road-ready, I'm hoping to find some TGO folks that like to ride.
  6. Got a new toy that's only slightly less dangerous than a firearm.
  7. i went back to Cobra's site to double check after reading your advice (and created an account to get more details about the products), but they don't have sound clips or specs that i can find.
  8. either way i knew i'd get ribbed by one camp or the other, and i figured i'd rather pay half as much for the privilege. video clips are really hard to judge. lots of pipes sound good, but i can't tell if they're going to make my neighbors call the HOA or just sound nice and deep. i checked out Cobra's site, but didn't see any specs for their slip on kits.
  9. anybody have a vstar 950 with after market pipes? i'm wondering decibel-wise, how loud are they?
  10. Very nice. What do you think of that Viridian Green laser? I've been pondering one for my 40c.
  11. Did a quick search but didn't see this posted anywhere. Armed Beauty Queen Fatally Shoots Intruder in Florida Home Invasion - FoxNews.com When a burly ex-convict forced his way into a posh Florida home last week, he had no idea what awaited him -- a 25-year-old beauty queen with a pink .38-caliber handgun. Meghan Brown, a former Florida pageant queen, shot and killed 42-year-old Albert Franklin Hill during a home invasion March 12 at the 2,732-square-foot house she shares with her fiance in Tierra Verde, Fla. Local Taco in Brentwood is another new, trendy taco place. Its behind the new Pinnacle building off of Franklin.
  14. a little while back i was at CHMR (used to be Owl Hollow) doing a little shooting in the pistol pit. while sitting there waiting my turn i started looking around and noticed bullet holes in the support beams by the tables. looked up and noticed holes in the covering. looked back and noticed bullet holes in the rear support beams (back toward the parking lot and road). i had to shake my head, b/c i truly don't understand now that happens. Charlie did tell me he had a guy try to write his name or something in the roof on the rifle side one day...using a .22LR i believe.
  15. It's nice to see someone with this attitude in NO. I'd post the article content, but I'm not sure about legalities. Arm the Coeds | Psychology Today

    Tipping.

as the man said above....I like your style.
  17. shot someone else's at the range a little while back and liked it. i thought it had a decent trigger and shot well. if you're considering another brand at all, i'd recommend the m&p compacts. love mine to death.
  18. Said in a Mr. T voice, of course.
  19. this should do the trick. there are a number of .iso's you can download and burn to a cd that will let you reset that. we use the Ultimate Boot CD at work all the time to reset the local admin password.
  20. i agree. the guy said he's still developing it, so maybe in the future. i created a simple one and finally got it uploaded somewhere.
  21. Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I found a neat site that lets you build a customized rifle. Figured there are some here that could make use. Pimp My Gun (beta)
  22. Just saw an add for a story on feral hogs in TN. Coming on Fox17 at 9 tonight if anyone's interested.
  23. maybe i'm just a stickler, i guess. i thought LOTR brought the books to life. i was amazed the first time i saw the mines of moria. the potter movies seem like quick hollywood, turn-a-buck renditions. of course you getting the point of view of a life-long fantasy/sci-fi reader so i could be pickier than most.
  24. i was excited about the .380 until i handle one at Academy. one of the biggest selling points for me was the integrated laser, but the activation button was so stiff, i had to use two hands to press the button. that, to me, defeats the purpose of a very close quarters style pocket gun. i'd rather get the lcp or P238 and buy crimson trace even though it's more expensive.
