I just bought one of the Montage Suisse P225 from topgunsupply.com and I'd like to lighten/smooth the DA trigger pull a bit. Does anyone know of someone that does good work in the Nashville area? Preferably south of Nashville.

Just got one of the Montage Suisse P225's from topgunsupply.com. I can't believe how much I like the grip, weight and size of the 225 versus my 229. I got one of the "very good" condition pistols and am pleased with the condition of the finish inside and out. Can't wait to get to the range this weekend and try it out! My P225 compared to the 229. The inside of the slide is actually in very good condition, but the photo here makes it look kinda mottled.

Anyone know where I can find magazines for a P225 with the heel release? Everything I'm finding is for the regular American release.

Another thing I wondered about when I read this, was "where did that bullet end up?"

Good story about talking to someone about HCP!
wipfel replied to macville's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I have a similar story from last night. My wife got us massages from Massage Envy in the Cool Springs area. Somehow we got to talking to one of the girls at the counter about guns, and she said she and her husband were going to a gunshow today in Franklin. He was going to buy her a gun, and I asked if she would carry it if she had her permit. She said no, but she would keep it in her car. I encouraged the girl to go to a class (told her where we did ours, easy to do, etc) and start carrying. My wife, who has her HCP was there, so she was able to put a positive girly spin on it. I asked them if they had any problem if i were to carry (i had left mine in the car just in case), and they said it was no problem. They believe the owner has a HCP as well. -
Missed that too. they have an article from 1/21/10 right above this one from 1/16/09.

I found this article on www.carryconcealed.net, and had a question...how could his pistol have fired when it hit the floor? don't all new pistols have safety devices to prevent discharge when dropped? Man hurt when gun blasts toilet | Deseret News CENTERVILLE — A man was wounded by shrapnel from a toilet when his concealed weapon accidentally went off while he was using the bathroom, police said. It happened Tuesday at the Carl's Jr. restaurant at 385 N. 800 West. Police said the 26-year-old man had gone into the bathroom to use the toilet, armed with a .40-caliber Kahr P40 handgun. The man, who has a valid concealed weapon permit and was lawfully in possession of the gun, had it in a holster inside his pants. "While pulling his pants up the gun fell out of the holster, striking the tile floor," Centerville Police Lt. Paul Child said Wednesday. "When the gun hit the floor, it went off, and the bullet struck the toilet, shattering it and sending sharp pieces of porcelain flying." The man was hit by some porcelain shards, lacerating his arm. No one else was injured, but an employee of the restaurant in the next-door women's restroom heard the gunshot and panicked. "She was shaken, she was upset and was complaining of some chest pain," Child said. The man walked into the restaurant area, holding his wound and asked an employee to call 911. Police and paramedics responded to the call of shots fired inside the restaurant and ended up treating the man for the cuts to his arm. The woman also was treated at the scene. "In this case it appears that the accident would have been prevented if the man had used a secure holster," Child said. "A good quality firearm also should not fire if it is dropped." The man was not cited, but police took the firearm for safekeeping while they finish their investigation. "He was shaken up. We felt it was prudent to secure the firearm," Child said. "He'll be able to have the firearm released back to him."

Favorites: Guns & Leather. My wife and I took our handgun carry class there and thought Mark Crabtree did a great job. They always are busy and sometimes getting help can take some time. Pretty good prices. Goodletsville Gun Shop. Just pre-payed for a Glock 27 on Friday with Phillip. Seemed like a good guy and had the best price I could find (online or off). Their selection was very limited, unfortunately. Least Favorite: Franklin Gun Shop. I asked for some help with an IWB holster and one of the guys helped for a minute, excused himself to help someone at the gun counter and never came back. When i approached him to ask some follow up questions, he blew me off pretty bluntly. Spoke with the owner (unrelated conversation) about 2nd Amendment stuff and realised the only opinion he wants to hear is his own. They also have the highest FFL fees of any shop I've even heard of so far ($75).

i've done them before in the oven (electric) on broil. put the steak about 4-5 inches from the element, cook 4 minutes, flip, 4 more minutes. need a pan under the steak to catch the juices. turn off the smoke detectors before opening the oven, cause every time i've done it, they've smoked like crazy. might have to cook them a little longer depending on how done you want them. i've tried this in a gas oven, but didn't work nearly as well.

it's a plug-in that allows certain web graphics to display, but it's not a virus or anything.

i really don't know what i'd do if i had 3 of them. the one i have is such a character and demands so much attention, i couldn't more.

get ready, because you are in for it. i did that for a while and it about killed me. you'll very likely cuss Tony a few times before it's over, but i saw absolutely wonderful results.

my wife and i went over the situation tonight and figured out how we should have done thing as well as how we would plan to do thing in the future. it was a great lesson for the both of us.

you knowl, this is a very good point. i was just reading that a human's olfactory area is about the size of a postage stamp and a dog's is about the size of a 8x11" piece of paper. he very well knew there were no unusual smells in the house.

thanks for the tips! i'm grateful for the feedback from everyone. the wife didn't hit any lights since i'd already turned on enough to pretty much light up the downstairs (we have an open floorplan). moving down the stairs is something i don't like. there just doesn't seem to be a way to get down without making yourself a target if someone knows your coming. i've already taken much of this advice and gone over it with the wife. i'm making plans to get nice flashlight and working on a systematic plan to clear the house.

i'm relatively new to handguns and handgun carry, and, while i don't want to fire up a couple of common debates, i had an experience last night that gave me new perspective on a couple of features of a pistol when one is being used for home defense. just as the wife and i were drifting to sleep (you know that point where you don't realize you're asleep, but you start having psuedo-dreams?), we heard a loud noise downstairs that jolted both of us. i wasn't sure it was even from downstairs at first, but i was completely sure no one had come up the stairs since they stop just outside our opened bedroom door. as soon as came awake enough to realize that was a very out-of-place noise, i rolled out of bed and grabbed the holstered Sig P229 i keep close by. this where the new perspectives happened. i was surprisingly relieved i didn't have to do anything other than pull the trigger if necessary since a round was chambered and there is no safety. i've been wary of both in the past. in this case, when i was struggling to wake up quickly while trying to determine the direction and source of the sound...all in the dark...i was happy to not have more to do to coerce the pistol into going bang. in the end i cleared the downstairs and found the noise was a little, portable car-powered air compressor that had fallen into the laundry room sink, which is about a foot from our garage door. in critiquing the situation, i found out a few useful things. for one it's impossible to get my dog to go more than about 4 steps down the stairs before he stops to see if i'm following. second, once he gets down there, he's just going to follow me to see why we're up in the middle of the night. third, i assumed (there's that nasty word) my wife would stay at the top of the stairs until she heard from me one way or the other. she ended up following me down after a couple of minutes delay, but didn't say anything to let me know she was now downstairs with me. on the plus side, it made my wife even more pro-gun, and was glad i went straight for my handgun.

Mounting a holster to the nightstand
wipfel replied to Sean's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
if i woke up to that running around my bedroom, my floor would look like swiss cheese after i emptied my sp-01 on it. i've seen that dog before, but i just can't get over how horribly ugly it is. -
Left-handed holster for right-handed person
wipfel replied to wipfel's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
i realized a lot of holsters are designed to cant the pistol forward. i guess a left-handed holster would cant the pistol the wrong way? -
i'm a newbie when it comes to carrying, and it seems if you carry far enough back (like 5 o'clock), a left handed holster might be easier to draw from. with my right-handed, iwb holster, the base of the handle is pretty much on my spine, and i have to reach almost to the middle of my back to get my hand on the grip. i was thinking if the top of the gun/slide was closer to the spine and the base of the grip closer to the love handle area it would be easier to grasp. does anyone do this themselves...or know of any reason why it would be a bad idea?

a little late, i guess, but i talked with him yesterday morning and he confirmed it will be closed today and tomorrow.

11/2/09. my wife and i got fingerprinted at the same time and received both permits the same day.

thanks for the advice. i carried most of the day today around the cool springs area. nice loose, stiff jacket made me feel more comfortable. of course i felt like everyone was checking me out, but, of course, no one was.

not yet. we got back late last night, unpacked and went to bed. we're heading to the opry mills area today, and i was thinking about taking my Cougar 8000 with me. does anyone have any advice on how to "configure" your holster? i've got a supertuck deluxe and, while i can get it to fit somewhat comfortably, i can't seem to hide the weapon much. anytime i bend over to tie my shoe, pick up anything, etc, the handle shows. my shirt still covers it, but it's really obvious something is under there. i've tried 3:00, 4:00 and even 5:00, but haven't found a fit, yet. maybe the gun's just too big?
