  1. i grew up in Oak Grove. lived there until i went to college.
  2. a f4 phantom did the same thing to me and my mom when i was in high school. we were heading south on hwy 17 in northeast LA. head the rushing noise, like we were about to get hit by a train, and then the boom as he went over us and kicked into a turn. pretty neat stuff.
  3. New York Couple Facing Charges for Jell-O Tampering AP Police said there was no indication of any intent to harm anyone, only to get the pudding mix without having to pay for it. EAST NORTHPORT, N.Y. -- A Suffolk County husband and wife are facing charges of tampering in connection to packages of Jell-O pudding mix that were found to contain salt and sand. Suffolk County police arrested 68-year-old Alexander Clement and 64-year-old Christine Clement on Sunday. The East Northport residents are facing multiple counts of petit larceny and tampering with a consumer product. Authorities said Christine Clement bought the boxes from four Long Island stores, removed the contents, and refilled them with a mix of salt and sand. The boxes were then returned for a refund. Police said there was no indication of any intent to harm anyone, only to get the pudding mix without having to pay for it. The Clements will be arraigned at a later date. They did not return a call seeking comment.
  4. you think Starbuck's is bad? try the Frothy Monkey in Nashville.
  5. i live in brentwood and was woken up by a pack right next to our house a few weeks back. kinda weirded my wife out (she's a city girl). had to explain this exact scenario could/would occur if they and our dog met so she has to be careful letting him out at night.
  6. Thank God the folks at Moe's didn't get his order wrong! Who knows what could have happened.
  7. thanks! i'm not good, yet, but i'm getting better.
  8. i'll give that a try. i was already considering getting a x-grip which would allow me to use full size magazines in the compact.
  9. finally got the m&p 40c to the range and i really like it. i had a glock 27 for a grand total of 4 days, and sold it to my neighbour b/c i didn't like the feel of the grip. after handling the m&p i felt like it's a glock for normal hands. i fired 70 rounds of WWB and 10 rounds of Winchester PDX 165gr JHP's without any issues. the pistol fed, fired and ejected all rounds perfectly. my wife fired 10 of the rounds and like it as well. we both shot a little low for some reason. to best of my recollection, this is the first time we've ever shot a gun and been off of center in the same manner. i found i had to put the front site at 12 o'clock plus a smidge to get center hits. i couldn't shoot my P225 very well when i first got it, either, so it just might take some time to get used to it. i tried all 3 backstraps and found all are acceptable, but medium seems best. there didn't seem to be much muzzle flip, but the recoil wasn't pleasant. i had more rounds with me, but i can't say i was excited about firing another 50, but that's no unexpected with a borderline subcompact polymer .40. i thought it was a little more accurate than my glock 27 at 15 yards, but less accurate at 5-10 yards. just my observation, so take that with a grain of salt. i didn't have any issues with mag release and honestly don't see how anyone could be hitting it while firing. below is a target for a little drill i run with all of my guns: 5 rounds at 5yds and 5 rounds at 7yds...firing at about a round per second or two. not too bad, but nowhere as good as i can do with my P229. overall misc note: the supertuck pictured below is a bonus $25 pickup i found at the gunshow in Nashville today. i was just about to put in an order for a new supertuck since i didn't have a carry holster for my m&p, and then i stumbled on this one. i even tried to get my friend to buy it first for his glock 27 (that's what the guy said it was made for). when he turned it down, i figured it might fit my m&p since they're so similar. went back, the guy let me try it out and after checking the imprint already in the leather, i could see it was actually made for the m&p. you can see the slant by the muzzle along with a round indentation that perfectly matches the last "tooth" on the light rail. fits great and saved me a little more than $50. i've also noticed the kydex is MUCH more fitted on this holster than on the other supertuck i have for my stoeger cougar.
  10. wow, my wife issued me the same ultimatum back in 2006. now we have this goober...
  11. I'd be interested as well. I almost pulled the trigger on a set last night. Did you see the demo video on their site of the guy hitting the metal silhouette at 75 and 100 yards? maybe not the most incredible shooting you'll ever see, but pretty impressive nonetheless.
  12. consider ubuntu, a free operating system based on debian linux. i'm a linux evangelist of sorts, so i'll admit my bias. i've been using ubuntu for years, on my work computer, multiple home computers...even got my mom and mother-in-law using it. free, immune from viruses, much faster, incredibly stable, 30k free apps. it's not perfect, but it's the best os i've used (and i've used windows for decades, mac osx for 2 years, and linux for 4). 13. i shot one owned by a friend, and the trigger is pretty bad. if you can fix the trigger, though, i thought it would be a fairly solid gun. i hard a hard time keeping the shots on the bulls-eye, but they all stayed on target at 10 yards.

    2010 Census

filled out our today. two things that stood out to me. 1) it was very short. i looked it over three times to make sure i wasn't missing anything, and 2) the part about being required by law to respond. didn't know that part, especially with all the commercials basically begging people to respond.
  15. i'm trying to sell mine (unfired, LNIB) for $500. I got taken to the cleaners as the poster said above on the one i bought. After shipping + ffl fee (or taxes) and background check, you're looking at $570 or so. i found it's much better to buy online and pay the shipping and ffl fee if you're buying new.
  16. congrats! and that "who's the father" comment was pretty cold!
  17. the best thing to do would be to back up your data and reinstall windows (or ubuntu, which is what i recommend). if that's not an option, then try booting into safe mode (hit F8 when booting), run an avg scan, a spybot scan and a malwarebytes scan. sometimes, once those things get in there, it's almost impossible to get rid of all the bad stuff.
  18. i saw an article on foxnews.com today saying theres some criticism about the green zone placing blame on America for some things. did you get anything like that from the movie?
  19. +1. i wish more businesses would follow their lead.
  20. I emailed Starbucks to let them know I appreciate their not succumbing to the gun control pressure. I was a little surprised I got a response and thought I'd post it here. Hello, Thanks for contacting Starbucks Coffee Company. We recognize that there is significant and genuine passion surrounding the issue of open carry weapons laws. Advocacy groups from both sides of this issue have chosen to use Starbucks as a way to draw attention to their positions. While we deeply respect the views of all our customers, Starbucks long-standing approach to this issue remains unchanged. We comply with local laws and statutes in all the communities we serve. In this case, 43 of the 50 U.S. states have open carry weapon laws. Where these laws don't exist, we comply with laws that prohibit the open carrying of weapons. The political, policy and legal debates around these issues belong in the legislatures and courts, not in our stores. At the same time, we have a security protocol for any threatening situation that might occur in our stores. Partners are trained to call law enforcement as situations arise. We will continuously review our procedures to ensure the highest safety guidelines are in place and we will continue to work closely with law enforcement. We have examined this issue through the lens of partner (employee) and customer safety. Were we to adopt a policy different from local laws allowing open carry, we would be forced to require our partners to ask law abiding customers to leave our stores, putting our partners in an unfair and potentially unsafe position. As the public debate continues, we are asking all interested parties to refrain from putting Starbucks or our partners into the middle of this divisive issue. As a company, we are extremely sensitive to the issue of gun violence in our society. Our Starbucks family knows all too well the dangers that exist when guns are used irresponsibly and illegally. Without minimizing this unfortunate reality, we believe that supporting local laws is the right way for us to ensure a safe environment for both partners and customers. We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. Warm Regards, Alyssa R.

  22. Where did you pick up your 9c? I'm thinking of getting a .40 in the same model, but am still price shopping.
  23. I love this one: 11.â€No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion.†~James Burgh
