  1. thanks for the tips...i'll give 'em a shot.
  2. i could see the devil looking like Red Forman.
  3. that made me LOL. i'd forgotten about that line. another great one from that movie is: "Excuse me while I whip this out." as he reaches down the front of his pants.
  4. when did you meet my dad?
  5. I got a Kindle a couple months ago and am loving it. Anybody have any tricks to finding deals on books, mags, etc for it?
  6. shot a Kahr CW9 a couple of weekends ago and though it was a nice choice. it had a very long, but smooth DA-only trigger and was easy to shoot. hurt the hand a little, though....maybe b/c it's so slim. been considering a PM9 for the wife.
  7. Ender's Game is one of my all-time favorite books. I agree with you about the downhill part. The latter books, especially the last in the Ender series were disappointments.
  8. congrats on getting back into it. everybody has to start somewhere!
  9. i've gotten on a classic sci-fi kick since i got my kindle. i'm working on the Foundation series at the moment, and they're not too bad. finished Neuromancer and Snow Crash recently...both of which are pretty good as well.
  10. i prefer the heroic, idealistic image of our armed forces.
  11. same here. some folks seem to be able to maintain their accuracy at range while others seem to have problems past about 10 yards. these will be for my carry gun, so long range shots are kinda pointless for me, but i'm still interested in seeing if i can keep the groupings small at 15-20 yards.
  12. +1 Does he "deserve" the FD's help? No, but I don't think I could have stood by and watched his house burn either. How many times have we all been shown mercy by others when we don't deserve it.
  13. thanks for the replies. they definitely do seem to take a little getting used to. we'll see how they do this weekend.
  14. has anyone here used these? i just got some to put on my m&pc, but haven't been to the range, yet. i'm curious to see what the opinions are for those that have used them for a while.
  15. I wish I could come, but the fam will be in town that weekend. On the ammo thing, some folks/guns might be picky about what type of ammo they shoot, so having some small bills on hand might be a good idea as well.
  16. i've had my 40c for about 6 months or so now, and i love it. i would recommend putting in the APEX sear, though. the trigger was "ok" until i did that, and now it's awesome. i've heard putting in the other APEX upgrades turns the entire trigger pull into magic, but i haven't tried one with them, yet.
  17. here's my goofy boy at the beach...
  18. glad to hear you're not going to have to find a new job, drewsett. i recommended a couple of pro-gun friends go to Stoney and ask for you.
  19. Thanks Fallguy. I was at Sunset Grill in Nashville two weekends ago and saw their sign prohibiting guns, so i didn't carry. Best I can remember it's not a legal posting, though.
  20. Hopefully not a thread hijack, but does anyone know of a summary of the new state law in regards to posting requirements? I saw the specific language of the law above, but I'm not sure how I'd determine if a sign had all of those elements and thus was legal. My understanding at the moment is it has to have the old, very specific verbage or the gun busters sign. Can anyone clarify that for me?
  21. +1. There are many families with kids that can't afford a computer. Throw Ubuntu on it and donate it.
  22. my second pistol was a p229 in .40 and .357 SIG, and it's a cadillac for sure. the trigger sets a standard for what all DA/SA triggers should feel like. my 229 caused me to buy a P225 and I'm planning on getting a P226 sometime in the future. i love 'em!
  23. got engaged up there back in 03. nice place to relax, though there's not much to do. they have an auto museum and a bunch of hiking trails. if you go down into the canyon with the waterfall there are some native american paintings in a huge rock overhang. normal rustic touristy stuff with souvenirs shops and whatever.
  24. when i saw your title, i thought you were talking about all the lsu fans with hangovers stumbling around atlanta today. geaux tigers!
