  1. Hey all, I found what looks to be a very good pawn shop deal on a Knight inline muzzle loader rifle. After some inspection, I could not find a model number on the barrel, and could not find a match for this particular model on the Knight website. I'm hoping this rifle takes 209 shotgun primers, but is there any way to find out for sure if this is the case? If this rifle takes disc primers, I may not be as interested. Thanks for any insight you may be able to give me...
  2. My understanding after continual conversations with Nashville and Sevierville staff is that BPS is a HCP gun-friendly environment.
  3. #### 'em. Do the crime, get shot, then do the eternal time, for better or worse....
  4. I have carried my LCP in my front or rear pocket for nearly 2 1/2 years in an Uncle Mike's #2 pocket holster. I have over 1250 rounds downrange with this piece and I trust my life to its reliability. I guess I am always ready, always carrying (legally, of course!), but beyond that I don't overthink it too much, which with all the current options, is easy to do....
  5. Cruel Hand Luke, thanks for passing along this trove of useful information!
  6. Preferably Federal, can meet locally.. Thanks
  7. Okay, I was going to test my first new reloads today at Guns & Leather. After going over what I did and the data I used with Mark Crabtree, he discovered that I had made a mistake in reading the data, and I decided to get a bullet puller and start over. Mark also recommended using different powder than I was using, so I bought some Alliant Unique powder. So, I get to setting up the Lee Auto Disk and start checking charge weights on a digital scale. The Speer manual recommended a starting .40 S&W charge of 6.2 grains of Unique for the 165 grain jacketed bullet I am using. So, I looked in the Lee manual to find a disk setting that matched 6.2 grains of Unique, and the Lee Auto Disk Capacity chart on page 708 of the manual shows that for Unique, a .66 cc disc should throw 6.0 grains. The overall question is, has anyone here found the charges thrown by the Auto Disk to throw lighter than listed charges in the manual? So I change disks up to a .71 cc, then a .76cc to finally arrive at thrown charges of 5.7-6.0 grains. This is a much different weight than the Lee manual says should be thrown with that disk for Unique, so I am going to await the advice of someone here before I give that bullet puller more exercise! Also, if 6.2 grains is the starting load, is 5.7-6.0 grains close enough for practice ammo and normal cycling of the battery? The digital scale is brand new, and since each bullet weighed 165 grains on the scale, this doesn't seem to be part of the problem. I also checked the adjustment of the Powder-through Expanding die in case that could have been a factor. As always, thanks for your help, and major public kudos to Mr. Crabtree for his advice and assistance in keeping me out of my own way!!
  8. Thanks for the help-the primers all appear to be well-seated with no anomalies or bulges. It looks like tomorrow will be test day due to a long day at work...
  9. I bought a Lee Deluxe Turret Press kit recently and just now had time to press up my first 25 test loads: Magnus Jacketed Copper 165g bullets/5.0g IMR 700x/Federal No 100 small pistol primers/once fired brass I didn't see anywhere in the Lee Manual that says the factory crimp die affects chamber pressure or safety, but my first few reloads *may* have been a little much on the crimp. Releasing the bullet from the crimp die came with a small amount of resistance. The reloads spec to factory dimensions on the diameter and OAL on the caliper. Should I be concerned about this? Just as usual concerned about safety! Thanks for any advice, and I will follow up with a post G&L range report.
  10. Thanks for the advice, everyone--trying to avoid the dreaded kaboom...
  11. Mission accomplished. All fingers and eyeballs present...
  12. Killer, thanks! I think I'll use some tweezers and handle them from the sides... Wish me luck...and thanks for the quick reply!
  13. After a quick Google, I need to emphasize I am not at all interested in any potentially unsafe disposal techniques!! I just don't want to take a chance that one loose primer now may be damaged...
  14. hey, folks, I just bought and set up my Lee Deluxe Turret Press Kit, got my dies adjusted, consulted Lee's reloading manual, and thought I would press up my first ten test rounds of .40 S&W. Well, thankfully nothing dangerous happened, but something happened to my doohickey that primes the case on my Safety Prime, and the primer cup sheared off. I pulled the ram back down, and found the live primer on my case holder. I have that live primer, as well as nine remaining live primers still in my safety prime tray. So, how do I SAFELY dispose of this live, loose primer, and how do I safely return the other primers to the original packaging?? Hopefully this will be as over my head as i will get in my reloading career, but at least my OAL and crimp look good! Thanks for your help!!!
