There is a large sand pit range off 100 near Lyles but it's actually part of a private lease that I am on but locals tend to use it also.

So wouldn't it technically be more of a "hoarding" that is going on than a "shortage" if 4.2 Billions rounds are being produced annually? i wonder what annual production numbers were previous years.

Thinking about another Glock also. Currently have a 17, 22 and 26. Want to stay in the same ammo range of 9mm and 40. Seems like either a G23 or G27 would make the most sense. Probably more the G27. I would then have the subcompact and full size frame of both the 9mm and 40. Thought about the G36 but that's the last thing that I want to do is start on a new caliber.

Welcome to TGO!

I blame the weather. I did see my fair share of deer in Tennessee this year (not until end of season) but didn't take shots at any of them. I am on a QDMA hunting lease and none of the deer were large/old enough to shoot. On the flip side I do certainly agree with the statement about "White Tail populations in MD, Northern Virginia and parts of West Virginia today have exploded". I hunt in West Virginia every year on a family farm and hunted two days during the week of Thanksgiving. Day 1 I saw 8 deer and day two I saw 9 deer. Since I had my pick on what I wanted I held out until I saw the right one and took the biggest due I've ever seen. Farms does are huge compared to others. She must have been at least 150lbs and after processing my freezer is beyond full so I wasn't too upset about not shooting anything back in Tennessee this season so I'm sure I helped contribute to the lack of harvest in the state this year.

Been once before to the Murfreesboro RK show and going again tomorrow. It sure beats a Bill Goodman show.

Got my bucket. There were two left and a buddy and I split them. They did have limits of 2 per person but as mentioned 230 buckets went within an hour or so.

Congrats! :woohoo:

I believe the Cheatham County WMA is still buck only for deer hunting.

Merry Christmas TGO and Happy New Year to everyone!

My son turns 2 in January and it's already on the radar to obtain in 2014.

Thanks for passing it along. Going to give it a try! Sounds like a good one.

Congrats! Great looking buck. What time of day and what round was used? Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk -
Black Pepper Jerky is my favorite. I have one that I use with venison a lot. Anyone have experience grinding up their jerky and using a jerky gun? Thinking about buying one this year. Have heard good things.

I hunted three times this week. They were by far the most active in the afternoon/evening. Never saw much of anything in the mornings. The day that I shot a doe this week was at 4:45PM. That day I actually did decide to sleep in and started hunting around 10:45AM. Worked out well.

Yeah, the real work starts after the shot is fired. I processed mine the last few years but took this year off and took it all to the processor. I pick it up tomorrow and will find out if I go back to processing it myself again or not. Do you ever grind up your venison and use a jerky gun? Apparently it makes it more tender if done this way and the ability to mix in other meats and stretch out the venison. I've done the jerky strips many times and haven't been really satisfied with how it turns out. Do you have any suggestions on making the jerky lasting longer short of eating it same day? Seems like if I don't eat it within a couple days it goes bad. I'm thinking maybe I just don't make as much each time I do it.

For sure. Three does entered the field and hung out for a while and two split off back into the woods but for some reason this one kept coming my direction alone and then bang. Worked out well since the other two were not as big and I would have passed on them. There were two other does I had already let walk about thirty minutes prior. I only had one doe tag and was holding out for the right one. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk -

I'll have to admit it was not a difficult shot. I was hiding inbetween some hay bails and watched her come in from 400-500 yards out and I finally took the shot around 75 yards. It was windy and snowing so I was glad it ended up being a fairly close range shot. Biggest doe I've ever shot. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk -

Thank you! I don't know if the temperature broke freezing that day but the deer were moving and all over the place come dusk. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk -

Deer down on 11/27 around 4:45PM EST. Snow hunting 2013 - Hunting on the family farm in West Virginia. Saw 9 does that day and no horns. Went ahead and took the biggest doe I had seen all day. She was a big one! Shot with a Remington 700 .308 WIN and Leupold VX2 scope. Not sure what happened on this first picture. My cousin couldn't quite figure out how to take pictures with my Android: She had to be at least a 150lb doe. Two of us struggled just to get her on the back of the 4 wheeler (after being field dressed). Should be good eats! -
Like others - trail mix, beef or venison jerky, candy, water and that's usually about it. If it's post rut I'll come off the stand during lunch time and fire up the portable grill at the camp site. Nothing going on in the woods from 10AM to 4PM except sleeping deer.

I pay a little over $2 an acre on a lease in Hickman County. 1300 acres and about 13 or 14 of us on it if that gives you any idea. I would load up on scent-killer Gold, scout the property, hang some stands and put out some trail cameras ASAP.

Process my own deer as well so it's never been a concern or issue. Worse can be found from the grocery store as mentioned above.

Glock 19 Gen 3. Sold on TGO. Turned around and bought a G22 and G17 on TGO. The G19 was great but no love lost. The first few rifles that I bought will be kept as long as possible.

Saw tons of .38 special at the RK show in Murfreesboro recently but that was about it.
