  3. Ok so I jest with the title but it makes you wonder. DailyTech - U.S. Discovers $1T USD Worth of Lithium, Other Mineral Deposits in Afghanistan
  4. "How do you boil a frog? Turn up the heat one degree at a time. It'll never notice until it's too late." -Borrowed from my father-in-law's sermon yesterday.
  5. It was blue and yeah I had been putting it just on the threads and it wasn't holding but I think I'll stick to re-tightening the loose ones from now on. I seriously thought I had bricked the gun on this one. The entire spring was a solid block of loc-tite.
  6. I learned three things today: Lesson 1: Loc-tite does what it advertises. It locks things tight. Lesson 2: The first two holes drilled in the top of a Ruger Mark III Hunter don't go all the way through the barrel. The third one does. It opens just above the main-spring housing of the bolt. Lesson 3: See lesson 1 It all started with just one little screw that kept wiggling loose so I figured "Hey, I'll just squirt a little loc-tite into the hole and that'll fix it. So I proceed to squirt some loc-tite down the hole, put the screw back in, and leave it to dry overnight. It worked for the other two screws so I didn't think anything of it till I get to the range and try to chamber a round. Locked solid. Well . Long story short it took three hours, a hairdryer and a mallet to get the bolt loose, half a bottle of nail polish remover, and half of my thumbnail to scrape out the loc-tite from each and every individual spring coil. The rest of it kinda just flaked out of the chamber. Fortunately, it didn't get down into the trigger assembly or the extractor so it should be ok. I haven't been able to get back to the range yet to make sure but everything seemed to be functioning properly once i got it back together. So yeah folks, always look before you loc-tite.
  7. Don't know if this will help those who are still out past 2010 for their upgrades but a friend of mine whose contract doesn't expire till August 2011 just called AT&T and they said they will give him $200 off the $499 or $599 no contract pricing of the new Iphones if he renews for two more years. So basically he'd have to pay just $100 more to get either one early. Not too bad if you really really want one.
  8. Any Knoxville folk wanna meet early at the West Town Mall Apple store on the 15th to pre-order an Iphone with me?
  9. Is it bad that I switched my day off to coincide with the release?
  10. June 24th. Preorders start the 15th. -Edit: Sorry if you're talking about the OS update then I have no clue.
  11. As we all know, any .45 round is a one shot kill However, I hear that the Gold Dot or DPX rounds are pretty good.
  12. I wonder how many stabbings and beatings they have then since people will still find a way to hurt other people if they want.
  13. Sometimes I think I'm the last person on earth that won't join Facebook.

  15. Droid tried to demo flash running on one of their phones but it really slowed down the phone and from what I hear, it kills the battery. Html 5 is what developers are looking at now. Just getting everyone to switch is the hard part since everything is so dependent on Flash right now.
  16. Web pages are compressed when you view them on a smarphone. It's streaming video and downloads that will bite into your data allotment. For example, I usually stream about 30 minutes of TV episodes, send around 50 texts, and use news and article apps about 10 minutes total a day and have so far been seeing about 20mb downloaded and 1-2mb uploaded a day. Round that up to 25mb a day even and that's still less than 1gb a month. The only thing I'm not sure of affecting your totals are downloading apps that can run into the gb's themselves. I don't know if they count towards you total usage. But, you could always use wi-fi for the really big ones.
  17. Oh I agree with the tethering. That's what really ticks me off. At&t is basically dictating how you use your data that you've already paid for by charging you a tethering fee just to use the same pool of data. Grrrrr. I just never tether (hey that rhymed) so it's never been a problem for me. And the idea of buying a used 4g later sounds pretty good. Sell the 3gs to someone looking for a basic Ipod/phone replacement. That's what I'll be doing with my original 3g.
  18. I am a heavy data user and haven't reached 2gb with my orignal 3g Iphone. Not saying it can't be done but it seems really unlikely. I do understand what your saying about the unlimited data and getting in now though. I realize that my unlimited won't be affected since I already have it but it still ticks me off that it won't be an option for new 4g buyers. Having said all this, I will be buying a 4g due to the better battery (5.25mv) camera (5mp), screen (960x640), processor (1ghz same as Ipad), and wireless capabilities (802.11n) and would do so even if I wasn't on unlimited data. Just too many new features for a gadget guy like me to ignore.
  19. Jhat usually gets it out a few days into the month.
