  1. I wonder what kind of gun he used? It would have been all over the reported articles already if it had been an "assault" rifle.
  2. Plus here on TGO some of us will let ya try em out if you bring the ammo!
  3. You are correct. G36 is 6+1 and XDS is 5+1. Im debating on getting the 7+1 mag but that might negate the size benefits.
  4. Yeah that was a model I actually debated on getting. However, since I already have an XDm 9mm I figured I'd just go ahead and go with the system I'm most familiar with. The G36 isn't really that much bigger but man this XDS is slim!
  5. Finally got a chance to take my new xds out to the range.I put my first 50 rounds through it with no problems what so ever. I know that it's only 50 rounds but that's all the time I had. Plus I'm still forced to be a lefty due to my surgery so will post some actual target pics once I get a chance to shoot it more. Even shooting with my off hand I expereienced no problems with out of battery or FTE's and I'd put the recoil at snappy but totally manageable. Even my wife didn't seem to mind it. However, she did keep going back to my SR1911 so I had to keep her distracted. Grrrrr. Just thought I'd throw this out though to those who might be considering one. I can't wait to put some more rounds through it! - Anyone know why I can't add pics in this topic category?
  6. Ah man my bad my work internet wouldn't let me view the video so I didn't realize.
  7. http://www.guns.com/...-ops-11039.html This is why I like dogs better than most people. -Edit Sorry my work wouldn't let me view the video so I couldn't tell it was a joke. However, i still like dogs more than most people.
  8. Well if he thought it was zeroed he won't be hittin anything any time soon. Arrows were all over the target.
  9. He always has been friendly with them Euro-peeins
  10. I'm sure there's a good explanation for this but I just saw a guy, in walmart, carrying one of those big foam block archery targets over to customer service complete with three arrows still in it. I'm gonna have to go over and ask the clerk when he's done the reason for his return but I figured we could have some fun with filling in the blanks ourselves. -I'm gonna go with, "This target's defective! I couldn't ever hit the bullseye!"
  11. I'm more worried about the whole discharging a firearm within city limits that I'd probably get hit with.
  12. Sorry meant to extend that to the OP.
  13. Sometimes ya fell like a nut. Sometimes ya don't.
  14. One thing I will say about Frontier Firearms range is that they won't let you shoot anything that has any lead exposed on the builet. Copper jacketed only. Which, granted is most of the ammo you buy off the shelf, but I had some semi jacketed .357 ammo and it was a no go.
  15. Really sorry you had that experience. I've had totally the opposite so I guess every situation is different. Everyone I've met and talked to has been super friendly and willing to show me the ropes over the years I've been a member. The main reason I joined the place was the fact that you can go and shoot on your own time and not have to worry about a ton of people. However, you are correct about the high power range not being available all the time but I can understand their reasoning. Couple years back we had a porta potty get destroyed by someone who was just out takin pot shots at stuff with no supervision so they've had to tighten things up since then. But I find that I spend most of my time between the plinking range and the 200 yard bench range anyway so I've gotten way more than my money's worth as it is. They will tell you at orientation that no one will just walk up to you and say "Hey come on over and shoot some skeet with us!" or stuff like that because that's part of the attraction of the place. You don't have to worry about being bothered if you don't want to be. But they will be more than happy to show you the ropes if you take the time to introduce yourself and show interest. Just don't do anything stupid like shoot clay targets from the plinking range parking lot and you won't get any flack from the other members. And if you're in town I know a bunch of guys who'd love to take you on a tour of the facilities, myself included.
  16. My wife now has an LCP and carries it in the flashbang holster. She says it's really comfortable but takes practice to draw from due to it's location. I can't tell when she has it on even with her baby belly. I will say the LCP is not a range toy due to its snappieness but that's not what it's intended for anyway.
  17. Yep. I called once asking if I could even use a slingshot on some skunks and they said nope! Not domestic so it's out of their jurisdiction. We don't have any outside animals but I'm always out in the middle of the night letting ours out to pee so I'm always watchful. I can tell you now that I'll play really dumb and surpirsed if the cops ever show up asking how a yote ended up dead with a slug in him on my lawn.
  18. Yes the fee at ORSA is $120 but the only reason you'd need to be a member of the NRA is if you can't get a sponsorship from a current member. Even then , after your first year of membership, they like for you to have a sponsor. But I know a ton of members that would gladly sponor you as long as you're not a total goober.
  19. My inlaws live in Kingston so we're out that way a lot. Gotta try Red Bones for dinner if you get a chance. Good food for a good price. Service is good depending on who you get. If you're interested in an outdoor range with good facilities check out ORSA in Oak Ridge.
  20. Oh no offense taken. I'll be the first to admit I'm overweight. Marriage will do that to ya! However I will say that in college I was not and still had many of the same problems. (Snoring, lethargy, sleepy all the time etc...) I just never had a wife to force me to choose between sleeping in the living room or seeing the doctor! But I would imagine that the symptoms wouldn't be as dramatic if I were to lose 50lbs or so.
  21. Long long story with as many different tellings as you have time to hear. Not gonna get into it but this whole thing wasn't handled as it should have been.
  22. Good deal! Trust me you'll feel like a new person. The hardest part is finding a mask that you feel comfortable with. I got lucky and found that I could stand the nasal pillows, which are the least obstructive in my opinion. I don't have to have to have the whole face mask.
  23. This. Cause I just laughed when I read that Knoxville made it into the 4 safest cities for driving in the country. Don't know what they were smokin when they reviewed us but Knoxville is not what I would consider safe. And I learned how to drive in Memphis so there's my frame of reference for ya.
  24. That's what she said. Anyway nice lookin piece! I've always liked the shiny stuff.
  25. Well if we call something a "him" we get looked at sideways if ya know what I mean.
