They are still $149 at academy. I was looking at them yesterday. The bus on top looks pretty useless though, non adjustable and WAY up there.

What's a Glock 19? The first rule of Glock 19 club is.....

Krochus on The High Road had a thread going about accuracy testing the 7.62x39 round. I believe he was getting about 1moa out of a bolt gun. The gun was for sale last week.

PT111 - Just make sure to feed it decent ammo. They don't like Wolf...

We didn't make the class, my buddy and the women (repetitive, I know ) didn't want to brave the ice. My little boy's birthday is next weekend, and the wife has to work the weekend after, so I'm looking at another month wait before we can reschedule. Just so we're clear, I'm not doing the Walmart Walk (again, ). They don't ever have ammo for me, and, I like Target better.

What melted on the UTG? The rail covers? Surely you don't mean the aluminum handguard.

Aimsurplus for mags and ammo. Carolina shooter supply is good for accessories. Ken Arnold in hendersonville tn is good for accessories too, and he is always at the gun shows here, I don't know about there. You can usually find decent stuff in the classifieds at the S12 forums and the AK Files forum. I got a UTG quadrail handguard for the front of a Saiga. You could mount a grip and a red dot with it. It cost about $85. I second paulie on the manufacturers. Commie mags and ammo is all a AK really "needs".

WMA's are really starting to piss me off.

Are you kidding me? Blizzard of '10 on my class day. I'm beginning to think someone doesn't like me much. If I can get the babysitter to come and G&L is open, I'm going....

GoldenLoki.com The gun wont look any different, it just breaks it in faster.

I picked one up a few weekends ago and haven't been able to make it to the range. It'll get shot this weekend at my HCP class. I'm really interested in how well it does, because the size is perfect for me.

Looks kinda neat. The red dots mean your lock is lined up for fire. I took the bait, didn't I?

I just went to the MCTS site and poked around. The new shooter handbook was very helpful. I'll definitely be at one soon. -
IDPA or Other in Nashville - Real Experiences

I just learned about the IDPA last night. I'm safe, and not a bad range shot, but speed reloads and shooting while moving are foreign. This looks fun. I take my HCP next weekend, after that I'm going to find a match that I can fit in my schedule. Thanks for all the great info! -
I appreciate it. :hat:

I finally broke down. I signed up for a HCP class. Of coarse, going solo is no fun, so I signed up everybody that even acted interested. My wife, my buddy and his wife, and my dad are all onboard for next weekend.

Chunkee, get the cheapest AK you can. It might not be pretty or super accurate, but most of them run with no problems. If you like the AK platform you can always swap up for better performance. The simple design of the AK makes it pretty hard to find one that won't perform. Edit - I'll third the 5.45 - It costs about half as much per round as 7.62x39 right now.

I picked up 5 boxes of the mythical 9mm JHP at reasonable prices. I'm happy. It was your standard Mid Tenn show with all the usual suspects there. Specialty Arms really showed up. I picked up a Mossberg 500 for a decent price.

Oops. I'm slow posting I guess.

Forgot to add, best prices I've seen are at classic arms. I haven't bought from them but they have a great rep for customer service.

Currently I have a Sar-1, a SGL-21 and a Saiga. The only difference between them is the "finish". All of them are minute of man accurate, and fun as hell. . Start with a Wasr - but make sure to get a 10/63 vs a 10. The 10's were designed as low cap single stack and century arms opened up the magwells for a traditional AK mag, hence the quality issue with mag wobble. My sar-1 was the century arms import before the wasrs, and it handles just fine.

Just goes to show how many of us are asleep at the wheel. Good for them, it looks like a great product.
