All the audio was on the left channel for me.

Agreed. Heck, how many cops routinely break the speed limit, but have no issue with writing tickets to people who do the same exact thing? History shows us that it is very easy to put your morals to the side and tell yourself "I'm just doing my job."

I thought it was really good. Notwithstanding the reaction from the left-libs, who are obviously going to categorize any proposal that doesn't involve a gun ban as 'crazy', it is very hard to argue against a police officer in every school. Plus, this should get the support of cops. While police chiefs and other brass typically support gun control, they are going to have a hard time not supporting federal funding for more officers. Really smart move by the NRA, I think, and definitely better than I expected from them. I think a lot of people are going to realize that the left-libs are more anti-NRA than they are anti-violence. Their reaction to the NRA proposal has made that obvious.

A Last Minute Appeal To Libertarians And Non-Voters
shortround replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Lot's of people making the case that Obama is horrible and Romney isn't so bad, so everyone should vote for Romney. I'm just curious - and really, I don't want to start a fight here - but at what point do you say "No, they are both too bad to vote for. I'm going to 'waste' my vote on a 3rd party, or not vote at all." I realize this is hypothetical, but I think it is a valid question. I mean, some people have already reached that limit, what is the limit for the rest of you? I assume that limit exists for everyone - surely nobody on this forum is going to assert that if it was Hitler vs. Stalin they would still be touting this "Don't waste your vote" line. Where is the limit for you? As long as there is somebody slightly better than Hitler/Stalin? As long as there is somebody better than Obama? Again, just curious. -
A Last Minute Appeal To Libertarians And Non-Voters
shortround replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, I voted this morning, and I still believe in the process. God willing, when we wake up in the morning, we will see REAL CHANGE and HOPE for the future. We will FINALLY be able to have liquor stores in Mt. Juliet. -
Thanks, gc. Maybe I need to get to know a 1911 collector or two.

Thanks for the info! I should probably add that cost isn't really an issue for him... He doesn't want to pay a ridiculous amount, but he can pay whatever is required to get what he wants.

My uncle has tasked me with finding a 1911. He wants a GI-type from WWII or Korea era. I don't know a lot about the history of the 1911 so I'm not sure exactly what to look for. The best I can say is that he wants a genuine example of what would have been issued in that era. He doesn't have a specific manufacturer preference. His biggest concern is getting an authentic piece. Can some of you 1911 experts give me some advice on what to look for? In keeping with the rules of this forum, I will not consider any items offered in response to this thread that are not posted in the official forum classifieds.

Rogers wins 45 District Race

I'm so happy with this. A friend of mine spoke to her on my behalf regarding a totally unrelated matter and my impression was that she thought of herself as an imperial overlord. Zero respect for her. -
Udall, Webb Amendment Fails to Pass Senate
shortround replied to daddyo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The problem is that the vast majority of people are still under the illusion that the federal govt. has our best interests at heart and would never abuse its powers. They read that this is only going to be used against Al Qaeda and think they are safe. It doesn't occur to them that Al Qaeda is just being used to get the foot in the door. They don't envision the slope we are going down, where the first people apprehended really will be hardcore Al Qaeda types, then people with tenuous links to that group, then domestic 'terrorists', and finally anyone who dares to speak against the govt. I absolutely guarantee you there are members of this forum reading this post and the others in this thread and rolling their eyes, thinking 'tinfoil hats'. They think the U.S. govt is the first benevolent govt. in the history of the universe and could never do anything like what I describe. -

'...while hunting big game...'. The article says that it isn't clear what they were hunting. One of them was apparently carrying a .22 and the other a .243. -
Wal-Mart in Mt. Juliet is selling the Plano 36" Gun Guard All-Weather case for $40. Sells for $100 or more elsewhere. I got one for my AR. They only had 2 left tonight. Not a bad case for $40. Link to same thing on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Plano-108360-Guard-Tactical-Case/dp/B0029KKWT8

Republican candidate proposes $1 trillion in spending cuts.

He is no more republican than the rest of the candidates. They, of course, are generally socialist. -
