9-year-old girl accidentally kills instructor with Uzi
shortround replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Age may not be an issue, but size, strength, maturity level and yes, experience are all issues. Coincidentally, these are all things that many 9 year old's do not possess. -
Good choice! I have one & love it. I use mine harder than any other knife I own.

I hope to have one some day. I've been waiting on a barrel for my PSL kit for 11 months. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

In the original context of that quote, Rick Warren was calling out Christians, basically saying they should learn to love and have compassion for those they disagree with. He was talking about Muslims, btw.
-
I think Rick Warren said that.

I haven't read all the comments, so maybe this has already been mentioned, but Phil has already said that he isn't going to be on the show much anymore. He is tired of it. If you watched last season, in most of the episodes he had a very limited role, often only being there for the closing 'supper table' scene. A&E, of course, is well aware of his lack of interest in doing the show. So 'suspending' him doesn't really change anything in practice. Especially considering that next season is already complete.

I have a feeling this might actually end up paying pretty well. -
TN family and one hell of an escalation of a traffic stop

Plenty of stupid to go around, it seems. -
This won't change anything. She was dumb enough to support Obama in the first place, chances are she will be dumb enough to support Hillary when she promises to 'fix' it.

TN man caught with loaded rifles at JFK
shortround replied to DaveS's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It was perfectly clear to me what you meant. -
Just for the record, Sowell writes columns that are picked up by many different outlets. So no, he doesn't write for WND. Also, I believe the original name of the column was "Race-Hustling Results: Part III" - clearly WND spiced it up to get more reaction.

"Those people" are really starting to pizz me the hell off
shortround replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Agreed. The only thing that might change is the Dems take over the house. I see no signs that the typical U.S. voter is becoming more intelligent. -
Senate rejects tougher background checks

They are keeping their fingers crossed for another Sandy Hook in the very near future. -
Well now, that's not really true, is it? 2A stands for more than just guns. I'm glad they chose to uphold their oaths in the 90's, I expect them to do the same now and in the future. I'm sorry, his response sounds to me like he is saying "Hey, remember that one time 20 years ago we didn't advocate for trampling your rights? That should give us a lifetime pass on fulfilling our obligations."

Very disappointing to see the sheriffs come out against this. They pretend that they are champions of liberty. Their Facebook page has a nice sounding blurb about how they support the 2nd amendment, but they are happy to trample on it in this instance. This is just more of the same 'restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens and pretend that it will reduce crime.' Virtually every home in the U.S. has a knife well over 4", you have to be a complete idiot to believe that a criminal intent on doing harm is going to be hindered in any way by this law.

Thanks for your great work in getting these silly laws repealed nationwide.

WTF moment: Kid disarms a gunman and gets suspended!
shortround replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Hmmmm... there must be more to it. According to the story on the abc-7.com website, it sounds like the kid who was arrested still had the gun in his possession when he was arrested - "According to the report, investigators found a loaded .22 caliber RG 14 revolver in Davis' dresser drawer." Did they wrestle it away and then give it back? -
Firearms Freedom Bills and the Constitution
shortround replied to enfield's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Almost all of our 'elected representatives', even at the local level, are fully invested in the system as it operates now. They see the power at the top and dream of having a bigger share of that power. None of them want to shake things up. Whether this is due to them actually believing that the status quo is good and proper (after all, that's what they've been taught since kindergarten) or it is just because they are power-lusting SOB's, I don't know. Regardless, it is never going to change until we, the people, demand it. -
Rape Victim Testifies For Concealed Carry On Campus

This blogger tracked down the source of the State Senator Hudak's ridiculous statistics. They have absolutely nothing to do with the likelihood of successfully defending yourself from an attacker. This woman is dumber than a coal bucket. http://seamus-muldoon.blogspot.com/2013/03/colorado-legislator-wants-victims-to.html
