Can anyone point me in the direction of a rear sight that would line up with an xs big dot front? I sold my Glock 27 and picked up a Glock 26 with xs big dot sights. I've only put about 75 rounds through it so far (so I reserve the right to change my mind) but so far I'm not that impressed with them. I've used Glock factory night sights and Meprolight and I think my eyes are just looking for something to reference on the sides. I know a lot of people swear by these, but they don't seem faster to me since my eyes feel trained to some sort of pereipherial horezontial reference point. my thought is that if I can find a wide rear sight, it might give me a more conventional sight picture that isn't so different than my other pistols. If it wasn't plastic, I'd consider putting the Glock factory rear on. I'm sure I already have some laying around but I don't want to have it installed just to find it isn't wide enough.

I've watched a lot of Macaskill's videos and I'm amazed every time. The guy is like magic.

There is now a Sig Sp2022 in the TGO classifieds. That's my vote.
-
+1. Just because something might be legal doesn't make it a good idea.

Glad you guys are OK.

Sig Sauer SP2022. It's polymer but heavy and da/sa. I would probably own one if I wanted that type of action.

Maybe, but everytime I see a J-frame in 9mm, I'm amazed at how high the asking price is and it's sold the next day. I think the niche is someone like me who owns and shoots primarily semis but just likes to have a revolver around. I have lots of 9mm +P in my safe and cheap 9mm practice ammo is much more plentiful than cheap .38 special. I'm with Eric on this one. I'd probably have bought this if it had been available when I bought the .38. I think it's a great idea, but I probably wouldn't buy now, since I (we) have the .38 special. The LCR is primarily my Wife's pistol, and she doesn't buy ammo, so we probably won't get her something different just so she can shoot my 9mm ammo.

Since 9mm is my favorite caliber and my wife has a .38 LCR that I really like, I will definitely have to give this a look. Interesting that it weighs more than the .38 but I guess it probably should if it will handle +p.

Why open carry when you can cc? I've got nothing against open carry and have done it occasionally hiking in backwoods areas etc...or at my office. But generally cc is more convenient.

I have an early production Gen 4 17. I got a new recoil spring from Glock but I'm sure my ejector isn't the most current one. Since my gun runs great should I even bother with the ejector? I'm not afraid to take my gun apart so if it isn't expensive I may prefer to order one from Midway or Brownell's instead of going through the hassle of taking it to a smith. Anyone know the part # for the new ejector? BTW, one of these days I will make it to a training Randy. As an aside my Gen 4 27 had erratic ejection for maybe the first 50 rounds but now shoots just fine... Harsher than the Gen 3 26 I should have kept... but I can't complain about the function.

double post sorry

It can be done depending on your clothing choice. I carry this way often. It does print, but it is a very square shape which would appear to be a wallet or phone. For me it only works with a quality kydex holster. Leather is nice, but too thick for this carry method. I agree it is "clunky", but I have an LCP for those times when I am doing something really active. A G26 or G27 is so much easier to shoot though. LCP is more comfortable, baby Glock is more comforting.

Got room for one more? Didn't think I'd be able to make it because I just moved last week which has been insanity. Turns out once we get to the decorating phase, I'm not that important! -
"What are you so afraid of that you have to carry a gun?"
JReedEsq replied to daddyo's topic in General Chat
No one ever asks me this. They know people hate lawyers. Especially their husband or wife's divorce attorney. It's just to bad I've been doing this just long enough that I've forgotten how to do any honest work.... -
My wife recently took the HCP class with the LCR that I bought for her about 18 months ago. The Smiths look nice, and the LCR is the only revolver I've ever owned so my opinion may not count for much but: The LCR has a smoother trigger, better stock grip, and the availability of a much better front sight. To me, it's LCR hands down from a practical perspective.

Aren't you a 1911 guy? I think the Sig P938 would be the logical choice.

I read Blind Courage many years ago. Great book. His life was an inspiration.

Ditto and ditto to the guys who said, "never again". My wife wanted a VW for years. She always like the look of them and I was always hesitant based on the experience of a few friends to had repeated issues with brand new cars. As usual, if she wants something long enough she gets it. We bought her a Passat last May. Found a very clean, fully-optioned, low mileage previous body style model. Had to go with the previous body style because she wanted a wagon and the latest one is sedan only. (Besides, we pay for cars in cash so I like to buy low-mileage used). I was told by a few VW people that having been made in Germany, it should be better quality than the new Chattanooga Passats. She loved it for about the first 2 weeks. I've got to admit it did have a nice interior, decent handling and a very smooth ride. It was in the shop probably 10 times. New key x2 ($200 but I convinced the dealer to cover it); new key docking station x1; new electronic steering lock (related to the key and security system) replaced under recall, exhaust problems twice (and any exhaust problems prevent the pressure necessary to engage the turbo which means the engine makes no power and the transmission shift points are wrong so someone calls from the side of the road because she's terrified to drive). 2 oil re-circulation pumps. This was all in about 3 months. It got so bad that she drove my car and I drove a different VW loaner every week because she didn't trust VW at all. Since neither of us has time for that garbage, I found a like new 30,000 mile Honda Accord Crosstour. She was so disgusted with the VW that she drove the Honda for about 5 minutes before telling me to go negotiate a deal and write the check. Done. NEVER AGAIN! I'm glad to see Tennessee jobs but if I want a Tennessee car I'll buy a Nissan.

It is the prettiest campus I've ever visited.

I've always thought it's kind of silly. I'm pretty far from a farmer, but I've always thought it stinks not to be able to do anything outside after the work day (without lights) during the winter. It's also a little bit of a downer for it to be dark when I'm driving home from work...

Congratulations on the cute puppy. We absolutely love our boxer. He is phenomenal with our 3 and 5 year-olds.

I tend agree with you guys. She may just be the sort of person who wants to have one pistol she feels comfortable with and has no desire for more than one. Just wanted more opinions. I've got no problem at all with her LCR. I picked it out after she had such disdain for loading and unloading a semi-auto. I have a hard time accepting that she can't rack the slide of a semi-auto, upon some reflection, I can accept that she doesn't want to.
-
I've suggested that to my wife too, but I wouldn't dare sign her up without her pre-approval. She actually said if that class is really basic can't she just practice these things with me? Of course I don't mind to go with her but I'm no expert and I think most people listen to a real instructor better than their spouse. She just mentioned taking the HCP class with a friend of hers who's husband is Federal LEO and has suggested this to his wife for years. I hope that having a friend to do it with will get her motivated to schedule the class.

I think I started her out with "cowboy" loads from Georgia Arms. Lately she shoots whatever factory ammo I can find on a shelf with no complaints. I appreciate the responses so far. I think you guys are right saying I shouldn't pressure her. I'm glad that she's showing an interest in getting her HCP. I'm not sure how much she'll actually carry, but better to have the permit than not. A few years ago she didn't ever even want to shoot. As far as forcing her to the range, Over the last year she has gone about once a month. She can go more if she likes but I'm not pushing it.

My wife didn't grow up with guns and initially had no interest in shooting when I bought my first pistol and got an HCP about 4-5 years ago. Initially, she said she didn't have any interest in having her own pistol she just wanted to understand how to use and safely my pistols since we do have guns in the house. I started her out about a year ago with a .22lr conversion slide on one of my Glocks 22. She did fine with that and can shoot my Glock 17 (full-size 9mm) OK, although she doesn't care for the grip and feel of Glocks. She shot my 27 (subcompact .40) exactly one time before declaring it a "cannon" and said she thought it was going to jump out of her hand. She is a very small person and even though I've tried to teach her proper technique on how to rack the slide of a semi-auto, she still says she can't and seems just a little intimidated by loading magazines and semi-autos in general. A little more than a year ago I bought a Ruger LCR with a big dot sight on it and installed the big cushy Houge Tamer grip for it. I like the pistol but when I shoot it I think it definitely has more recoil than either of my full-size Glocks and probably even a little more than my 27. My wife on the other hand doesn't find it harsh at all. She has recently expressed an interest in getting a permit and when I took her to the range the other day I had her try out my LCP and mentioned having her try out some other small semi-autos. She put one magazine through the LCP before declaring that it has more recoil than the LCR and the sight picture is terrible, she doesn't want to shoot it again and isn't that interested in trying out a shield or any other pistols. Before you guys chime in to tell me I'm just to lazy to look for another caliber at Wal-Mart and Academy, my thoughts on the LCP are that I already own it (rarely carry it) and that it might be something she might actually carry on her body if she gets a permit. She says she'd just like to get the permit and isn't that concerned about how to carry. I also wanted her to try a few other semi-autos before declaring that she doesn't like any of them. Specifically, I believe that small semi-autos recoil less than small revolvers. That said, I do feel like the grip, trigger and sights of the LCR are far better than a J-frame or the Ruger LCP. After our last range trip though, she's really starting to shoot her LCR more accurately and I'm wondering if I should just back off and let her stick that pistol and revolvers in general.
