  1. I bought a 5.11 belt at Greenes in Knoxville. They have a fairly good selection and reasonable prices.
  2. I've been unofficially told that the "policy" is to treat this as a civil offense unless there are other infractions involved. I agree that I would not want to see it tested by anyone who values their HCP. However, I do believe that if someone has a valid HCP they are in far better shape if caught carrying in a Knoxville park than another posted park. The reason for my earlier post was to point out this distinction. You guys always seem to be looking for black and white answers when the reality of the law may be a little grey. Finally, this forum should be used for education and entertainment, but not for legal advice.
  3. That makes sense, but the 19 was my first handgun and it would be the last one I'd get rid of since it is easy to carry and still has great capacity. If two is good, three would better, right? Back to the point of the thread, congrats on the G34.
  4. Does the longer sight radius really make it better than a 17? I'm just asking because I have a 19 and 26 and I've thought about getting a 17 for a range/HD/maybe occasional backwoods carry gun. Since it wouldn't really be for carry, would you recommend a 34 instead?
  5. This is generally right but I have to point out that parks in Knoxville are under a previous statute. In Knoxville, it is only a civil offense. You can be fined, but you are less likely to face criminal charges than in other posted parks. Other municipalities may differ as well.
  6. If you work in an urban area, you might be able to park down the street without anyone noticing.

    Glock 27

I've not carried my 26 that much since I've just had it for a month or so... I have an Aholster pocket holster and I can also put it in the Crossbreed Supertuck that I have for my 19. Once the weather warms, it may become my primary carry. One thing I've noticed is that even when I'm pocket carrying a sturdy belt really makes a difference.
  8. Sweet looking pair o' guns. The Supertuck for my Glock 19 also works for my 26 so you might want to see if you can share holsters. I only have Glocks but the XDs also look delicous.
  9. As Fallguy said, there is a difference between "low ready" and taking aim. This is a huge difference. "Low ready", means you're prepared to defend yourself if necessary. Aiming at someone can actually be an assault if you don't have justification. In this case, you had no way of knowing if you were about to be attacked or if someone had just fallen asleep at the wheel.
  10. +1, First and foremost I'd be getting the GF to the front door of the house or toward cover, if possible. My second thought would be hand on the weapon and just making sure there is no clothing or other material impeding your draw. Since none of us were in your situation, we can really just guess what we would do. The important thing is to remain calm and not overstep "reasonable" self-defense. I think you did just fine, since you didn't actually point the weapon.
  11. +1000. You should write this up and send it to Ron Ramsey, Bill Haslam, and Zach Wamp.

    My First Handgun

    That is a handsome gun!

  14. Remington Golden Saber Bullets 9mm (355 Diameter) 124 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point - MidwayUSA Surely I'm reading this wrong but it looks like a box of 100 124grn 9mm Golden Sabers is only $16. Ok, this is just the bullet to use for reloading... Right?

    Glock 19

I agree with the earlier posting that it depends on whether the 3rd Gen fits your hand. I'm still pretty new to this and I've bought both a 19 and the 26 in the last 6 months so I've already become a Glock fan. I'm verry interested in the 4th Generation but I've decided that all the 3rd Generation guns fit me well but only in 9mm. If I eventually get a G17 it will probably be 4th Gen just because I don't think the 3rd Gens will be marked down in price substantially enough and that will likely be what's available when I get around to buying one. Personally, I think the real benefit to 4th Generation will be when they release a 21 and a 30. The current models of those guns are just too big for me.

    Pocket Pistol

OK, why don't one of you guys buy one and test it out for us?
  17. +1 G19 for me.
  18. If you've not tried it with a good holster, you've not really tried IWB. I'm 5'11 and 155 lbs and a Glock 19 is pretty comfy for me in a Crossbreed Supertuck. My Glock 26 is even more comfy because it's lighter. If you don't have to tuck your shirt in, there is no reason you shouldn't carry iwb in the summer. Since you don't want a 9mm, I'd suggest the G33 which is the same size but in a .357 Sig.
  19. Yes, Bill Haslam, Yes. He disappointed a few gun rights advocates by (reluctantly) endorsing Knoxville City Parks gun ban.
  20. That is quite possibly the most tacticool shotgun I've ever seen.
  21. I gotta know... Which one is your EDC?
  22. It's great to have someone around to keep everyone in place. If we all just respect our elders our threads can be civil discussions instead of useless caliber wars or endless debates with no answer. Seriously, I'm glad someone can "nip it in the bud" when necessary... I don't really like to read the endless rants and inevitable personal attacks that result from the AK v/s AR, Open Carry v/s CC, Shotgun v/s Carbine for Home Defense, or 9mm v/s .45 debates. Especially when they have nothing to do with the original question as posted.
  23. This makes sense to me. I really like the consistant trigger feel and easy take down of the G19 and G26 that I bought to carry. I also like that they will eat any ammo without fail. Somewhere on my list is a full-size .45, but the grip on the 21 is just way too big. I guess if a 4th Gen 21 doesn't solve that problem I'll go with an XD as a HD and occasional backwoods carry pistol.
  24. Thanks for having the patience to answer another newbie question. I was curious about the round but I probably would have stayed away anyway. I decided to get into this hobby at the height of the ammo scare so I'm inclined to stick with the most common calibers. I may buy one more 9mm and then I will venture to either .45ACP, .40S&W or a .357/.38 revolver.
  25. Verne, I sent you a PM about my PetSafe wireless model. Last night I confirmed that it is still in my garage in great shape. Interested in trades?
