Sounds like a great plan. One thing I forgot to mention about the Glock holster is that you have to cut out little tabs to fit the belt with of you choice. Take your time so you don't dig into the supports. Otherwise, I'm totally convinced they are the best deal around.

Gun Belt - Where to buy in Knoxville area?
JReedEsq replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Greene's has the 5.11 tactical belts. -
I've been through a bit of 9mm, a few boxes of .40 and a few boxes of 5.56. I've had no issues. I clean every time I shoot regardless. I don't detail clean, but since I clean often, my guns don't seem to get dirty enough to need it.

The OP will be carrying Glock 19, which is exactly why I'm recommending he try it out. Part of the reason I like it so much is that it fits the gun super tight and really covers the trigger guard well. That's important since I wear mine pointing right at my ass! Seriously, it looks so cheap that I wouldn't have tried the thing unless it was recommended to me. I don't think a leather holster can be made stiff enough to hold the gun in such a concealable "high and tight" position. While they are comfy, I don't find my leather holsters to feel as secure when reholstering. Just MHO

I have one of these too. It is well-crafted, comfy, and looks nice but doesn't conceal anywhere nearly as well as this: Glock Sport and Combat Holster Ambidextrous 17, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 Polymer Black - MidwayUSA I said it in an earlier post but the Glock brand OWB is the only cheap holster I've tried that I feel secures the weapon well and it very simply conceals better than I ever thought possbile for an OWB. it holds the gun so high that it conceals almost as well as an IWB. The Galco shown above is slightly more comfy buy I only wear it if I pretty much know I'm not going to be taking my sport coat off. The Glock OWB, on the other hand, can be worn under an untucked shirt, almost like one of my IWB setups. I have both a CrossBreed Supertuck and Galco Summer Comfort Horsehide IWB. The ST is more concealable but the Galco is slightly more comfy if I'm wearing loose pants. The fact that the ST holds the gun a little closer makes it slightly less comfy if I'm sitting at my desk or driving. Sometimes, however, I want to wear some size 30s and the IWB just doesn't work for them. For me IWB vs OWB just depends on what I'm wearing, where I'm going and how concealed I need or want to be that day. My most concealable holster is my Supertuck and if I'm going to a formal event I scale back to my G26 and it simply disappears (even bending down etc...). If I were just starting out carrying a G19, which is what I carry most BTW, I would get the Glock holster first as it is an awesome bang for the buck and is very concealable if you don't tuck your shirt in.

I've seen this too. Well not actually seen it (thankfully), but I know that it happens.

Good advice, but what about those of us who happen to deal with a lot of drug addicts in the course of how we make a living?

If you are cc'ing a Glock you owe it to yourself to try out the Glock sport/combat owb holster. They are like $15 and ugly, but they work freakin awesome. It will hold your Glock high, tight, easy to conceal, and very secure. I have several much more expensive holsters and I'm surprised how much I use the cheapest holster I own.

If Kel-tec could produce a better finished product; one that will work without a "fluff & and buff" Ruger wouldn't turn a profit by upcharging KT's
-
I must have odd hands because the finger groves on the Gen 3s fit me perfect. I just pulled my 19 out of the holster to check and my fingers fall right into the grooves.
-
The 19/23/32 is the absolute perfect size for a carry gun IMHO. I carry my 19 more than any other weapon. So comfy you forget it's there, 100 percent reliable, and holds 16 rounds of Gold Dots to give you the warm fuzzies. Really hard to beat.

list the weirder things that you have eaten

I once ate a McDonald's McRib. Seriously this thread is making me feel mighty mighty wussy. -
I've got an Advantage Arms kit for my Glock 22. I've had no issues at all as long as I use either CCI Mini-Mags or Remmington Goldens. Everyone says Remmington .22 ammo is crap but it is the only bulk pack ammo that will function in my AA kit. It may not be as accurate as the CCIs but for me the point is cheap practice. The weight of the gun isn't the same with the conversion kit and of course the recoil is way different, but when I'm shooting often I would generally stick to .22lr about half the time. Unfortunately, I've been busy with a new baby and the holidays and I've not been able to shoot at all for a while (the past month or so), but I can't wait to try out the .22 kit I picked up for my AR-15 as well.
-
I'm glad to see a few folks agree with my Glock 9mm suggestion. I'd also like to point out that you can get a .22 conversion kit for a Glock instead of buying a .22 pistol. The conversion kits can be hard to find but I enjoy mine and it allows more trigger time on your carry gun.

dGlock, Smith & Wesson M&P, Springfield XD. Any of these should work just fine. I'd suggest 9mm. Also, if you don't mind a full-size gun you might look into Police trade-ins here: Police Trade Ins for Sale at BudsGunShop They usually have lots of Glocks in 9mm or .40 caliber which would be fine. My first handgun was a Glock 19. It's the midsize 9mm. I've bought several other since then. Kept some and sold some but the Glock 19 is the one in my holster as I type this. It was recommended by an older Judge I know who owns probably several hundred of guns. He said the Glock 19 really does everything a defensive handgun needs to do and does it well.

+1. The G26 is a small gun that actually shoots like a real gun....
-
Between the .40 and the .45, I'd go .40 for the mag capacity, cost of ammo, and availibility of ammo. Personally, I like my G22 (full-size .40) just fine but I prefer the G26 (9mm) to the G27.

Have you fired an LCP? I'm reading that the TCP has a better (shorter) trigger pull than the LCP. Can you verify? I traded away my (perfectly reliable) LCP and I can't find anything I like better. Mainly I didn't like the trigger. I'm considering a TCP or an LCR...

Is your EDC also your nightstand gun?
JReedEsq replied to Sandman's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
My nightstand gun is a full-size version of my carry gun. As a few other folks have said, I like to simplify things by having a familiar manual of arms if I'm reaching around for something at 3 AM. -
Another question for the board, ammo in the magazine.
JReedEsq replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I posted a link here a while back: Camping & Hiking Ammunition | Ballistics 101 These guys advocate carrying FMJ in the backwoods if there is any chance you will use your weapon against woodland creatures. Most of the board didn't seem to agree with these guys but the thought is the same. If you have a mariginal caliber, example (.380 v/s a fat guy or a .40 against a wild animal on a hiking trail...); penetration is more important that expansion. I may be dumb, but I have alternated heavy JHP and flat nosed FMJ in my Glock 22 for hiking. It is not a normal carry gun for me but when I do carry it or when it is on "bump in the night duty", it's loaded with lighter JHP. *Edit as for Mike's comment about cycling well... I don't like to use any gun for carry that is picky about ammo. All my Glocks have fed everything I've put through them. -
That's a sweet deal. Buds usually undercuts everyone and their RTFs are on sale for $471. I have an RTF 22 that I really like.

Maybe I'm off topic, but here goes: Do most moern double action revolvers have a hammer block. safety?

You're gonna get a lot of different responses to this one. It's an entirely personal decision.

I had one. Really wanted to like it but just didn't. The front site was so flimsy and hard to see that I couldn't really get the potential out of it. I think it's a good idea but poor execution.

Need some input on an everyday carry pistol.
JReedEsq replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I used to own both an LCP and a G26. I vote Glock 26 all the way. It is just far easier me me to shoot with quickness and precision. It is also very easy to conceal with a combination of a tuckable IWB and a pocket holster. My LCP was perfectly reliable but I hardly ever carried it.
