During my morning run I spotted a dead doe in a ditch near the intersection of Emory Church Rd and Westland Drive in West Knox County. This is Just East of the Westland drive exit from Pellisippi Parkway. Maybe this is a pointless post, but I figure someone may be able to process it if it was an overnight road kill and the temperature is/has been cold enough.

I vote you get a 23. I tried a 27 before I bought my 26 and I definitely preferred the 26. Not that a 27 was that bad, just an issue of a recoil impulse that is slower to recover from. Incedentally, I have a 22 and find .40 to be a pleasure to shoot in a full-size gun. I also have a 19(the 23's 9mm twin) that is gets carried the most, so although I haven't tried a 23, I suspect you can't go wrong with one.

Nice guys, fair prices. I've spent some coin in there too!

Only an idiot would want one: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/want-buy/52111-wtb-glock-23-knoxville.html

I love it when Chris Matthews says that guns are not an issue in the cities or suburbs but are an issue for people in rural areas. What area did the Supreme Court most recently analyze? Was it that rural area called Chicago????

Makes perfect sense to me....

Yup.

I still consider myself a newb, but I don't see why they would consider anything other than the Glock or M&P lines. Either would offer greater capacity and be more cost effective.

All depends on the dog... Gatorade in the eyes works on a lot of them, but I've been told of dogs that weren't phased at all by pepper spray and I've been bitten by a dog that continued to chase and snap at me after having a full water bottle been chucked at his head... Trust me, if I ever point a .380 at a dog it will be because I've already tried to 1) ride fast enough to get away, 2) kick him with cleated shoes, 3) spray fluid at him 4) throw something at him, 5) Get off the bike and put the bike between him and me and I'm way in the middle with nobody around offering help. The last time I was bitten, I was 35 miles away from home and alone. I had to ride all the way back to Knoxville with a bloody leg before driving to the Anderson County Sheriff's Department to get someone to go out and verify the dog's shot's were up to date. I absolutely love dogs... Have two at home... but I really hope to never again need medical attention again as a result of a dog bites There isn't much that infuriates me more than people who sit by and watch while their dog chases cars/runners/cyclists....

I understand that an AR with the right load may penetrate less than buckshot but what about the fact that you'll likely burst an eardrum if you have to use it inside with no hearing protection? Am I the only one with that concern? To address the question posted, I usually have either my Glock 17 or my Glock 22 with a spare mag and a bright flashlight out and everything else is locked up. This is for convienence so that I can stick it in a quick acess pistol safe before we get the my toddler out of his room in the morning. For a handgun load, I believe the 135 grain Federals in my Glock 22 offer more expansion and less penetration than the 165 grain Golden Sabers that I would use on the rare occasion I carry .40 instead of a 9mm outside the house. If I really suspected someone was coming to the house and I had time, I'd get out my 870 with #4 buck. If I suspected it was more than one person, I'd have to get out the RRA. They stay locked up all the time, but I'd wager I can get to them faster than it would take for LEO to respond to a 911 call.

That my friend is impressive. It makes me wish my father-in-law would have given me the heads up before he traded away his diesel Excursion. I don't plan to buy anything anytime soon, but I'm definitely considering a diesel for my next vehicle. That said, I still vote for the OP to keep what he has.

I agree with all the guys voting to keep your current truck. I hate car payments period. Right now we have two cars (Caddilac CTS and Nissan Pathfinder) with less than 40K each on them and no payments. Hope to never have a payment again. Cars depreciate and putting more money into something that is dropping in value never makes financial sense and you don't drive enough to justify it otherwise. Just my opinion.... I do agree that, in your situation, fuel economy really shouldn't be a factor.

Of course I know the thread is about watches, but I was trying to speak in terms folks can relate too. Next time I'll make sure not to mention guns on TGO. Personally, I don't even own a Rolex (Although I must admit I own an automatic mechanical swiss watch), but I'm not going to pass judgment on someone just because they like something different than me. That's the great thing about America we all have the opportunity to work toward what having what we like and we don't have to like the same stuff. I've got no plans to buy a 1911, but I'm not going say someone is an idiot because the like a really heavy gun with less capacity than a .45 Glock or M&P. They happen to like something different than me, big deal. I can respect the craftsmanship even if it's not my style. If you think the 1911 analogy is wrong just click here and check out the pic on the left: Ed Brown Products, 1911, parts Edit: Lest you guys think I'm some watch snob, I actually like the G-Shocks too. It just so happens that I work in a field that requires me to wear suits and wearing a digital watch with a suit would be like using an Uncle Mike's with a $2,300 custom 1911.

I couldn't resist ordering some mags earlier today from CDNN. I thought you guys might want to know the shipping was $5.99 flat rate and the checkout car said it was today only.

CDNN sports has a lot of mags on sale right now.

Maybe I got lucky but I went through 550 rounds with only a few stovepipes. I used them mostly with my Advantage Glock conversion kit and some with a .22 bolt on a RRA AR. For me, they have worked better than any other bulk pack.

If you search the threads, I think "Lowbud" had one that he sent back to the factory at least twice. You may PM him if you don't find it. I was tempted to try one but spotty reliability scared me off. I've also heard that a poor grip can cause the magazine to fall out when firing.
-
People don't "need" high end 1911s either, a High Point will do same job. Some people appreciate a hand-crafted item they can pass on to their children.

+1; But there are probably more Glock KBs than XD KBs.... Why???... But because their are more Glocks being used and abused. Why??? Because Glocks are generally more worthy of use and abuse... With all that use and abuse comes improper care and some people who insist on using the wrong ammo.... Hence more KBs.... -
+1; With that stupid name I thought this thread might be a joke at first. It's like they picked the name that would most point out that it's a rip-off. An innovative product would be a polymer-framed 9mm/.380 revolver. Charter supposedly has a design for one that will work without moon clips. I'd love to see S&W or Ruger license their design, since they can't seem to get it to market.

I know this is an old thread but my wife had one of these so I've tried it by sticking a desantis nemises pocket holster into the H20 holder with gatorade or an ID carrier on the other side to balance out the weight. Classic Belts It bounces a lot less than anything else I've tried. I'll continue to use a cycling jersey pocket when riding, I've done 3 or 4 seven mile runs with this no problem.
-
While I also agree with the above statement, I've underlined the part a lot of folks calling themselves "militias" tend to have a problem with. Why not just start a "gun club" and incorporate other wilderness activities?
-
I've run a few through my RRA and I haven't had any problems whatsoever.

A lot of people believe the 1911 is the perfect gun. They should be better than perfect since Browning himself believed the hipower was an improvement to the 1911.
