I've got to second the suggested brands above. I really like the Kelty products I've used. Also Columbia products tend to be a good middle ground. Definitely higher quality that Coleman etc... but usually less expensive than North Face & Mountain Hardwear etc... My Columbia tent, for example is great for car camping, it's huge and probably just as durable as my Kelty tent. It is heavier and lacks a few features, but definitely solid.

I've seen tons of crazy things in my work that never make it into the news and tons of things that are on the news that I think, "I've seen that happen 100 times." I'm not going to doubt the validity of something I hear just because it isn't on the news. Then again, I'm probably not going to be surprised if someone is mistaken or exaggerating either. When I say "someone", that includes the media. Don't get me wrong here, I not saying: "don't believe anyone, it's all lies.":tinfoil: What I'm really saying is "don't believe everything you hear in the media, they often make mistakes and get details wrong."

That scares me to death.

I've just been shooting for a few years and I've done a few classes but no competitions at all. IDPA looks super fun to me but it's always a question of whether I can squeeze in one more thing into my schedule. Does anyone know anything about the Volunteer Pistol and Rifle Club? If you go here: VRPC Event Calendar and click on fall pistol events, it looks like they have a zombie themed pistol shoot on Oct 30th. Since it only says you need 100 rounds and extra mags, I assume you don't have to be a member to participate. I wonder if it would be a beginner friendly event?

I had a similiar conversation with my dentist recently. The whole conversation started when I was running late because I had been at a divorce mediation. He laughed and said he felt sorry for me to have to fight all day and then asked, do they have metal detectors at those things? I said I wouldn't make it in if they did. He said that sounds pretty reasonable in my line of work. Then I listened to him tell me how old metal guns are superior to new plastic ones while he looked at my teeth. It was a nice conversation, but I'm not selling my plastic guns.

Personally I like revolvers but I can't shoot one nearly as well as a Glock and the ones that are fun to shoot (the big and heavy ones) aren't the ones most people carry. I wouldn't mind owning a revolver or two but I'd have a hard time parting with a Glock for one unless I had multiple other Glocks. I've recently thought about trading for or getting a 4" .357 revolver for a hiking pistol and as a possible learning tool for the wife (with .38 special, of course). I haven't for two reasons. First, even though .357 is a more potent load than the .40 G22 I currently hike with, I practice fairly often with my G19/G17 Glocks so I'm probaby better protected with my 16 rounds of .40 in my G22 (a familiar package) than I would be with a 6 rounds of .357 in a platform I'm less experienced with. Second, I don't really want to part with one of my Glocks.

I like magic as well. I bought a gun from him awhile back. But I also am friends with the owners of this place: www.nationalautowarehouse.com I bought a car from them a few years ago and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. Their business model a little different in that they sell mainly online and on ebay. They don't spend a lot of money for street frontage at a major intersection since they sell all over. They price the cars competively and don't waste time with any high pressure sales tactics. I'd say check with Magic, check with them and then see who's got what you're looking for... Happy shopping.

I was astonished he didn't get penalized for that. He's got less class than Lane Muffin.

Truly the Japanese Buick!

I've shot a fair amount with no issues. I will say however, that I actually noticed an unusual amount of muzzle flash from the 9mm I shot yestersday.

I generally don't OC except when I'm hiking. I've walked right by rangers at Frozen Head State Park and in the GSMNP. My experience is that they all know the law and I haven't had any negative experiences in the parks.

Way better ballistics potentially.

This is where I'm at. I'd really like to try one but I also like having readily available calibers. The ammo issue combined with the fact that I can't think of a practical "need" for one, means I've talked myself out of it for now.

My roommate and his friend got robbed and shot at tonight
JReedEsq replied to a topic in General Chat
Absolutely. $120 is just not worth it. Now if the money doesn't satisfy them or if try to force you into a vehicle/building then all bets are off. -
I don't know about that. I'm a "Glock guy" I guess since I have four and I can resist. Between and XD and M&P, I'd definitely pick M&P. I like the M&Ps a lot. Not enough to sell a Glock, but a lot...

Unique might work too. Either way, they will look way better attached to a weapon.

Now this is the guy you need to listen too. Clearly understands marketing. Seriously, all products look better when associated with other high end products. I'd say take a picture with the most expensive weapon you can find.

For me it isn't a question of what's fair, it's more a question of encouraging someone to drive or to sleep it off in their vehicle. A little forethought would prevent someone from finding themselves in that situation to begin with. I'm not saying there shouldn't be consequences to poor planning, I just think it should treated as a lesser offense than actually risking the lives of others by driving impaired.

That's an Illionis case. In Tennessee we are under a different statute. The key isn't his intent but control over the vehicle. Twice in the last three years I've had clients charged with DUI who were trying to sleep it off in their vehicle. In both cases I avoided convictions for my clients, but by other means. The control issue is a very difficult one to challenge under the Tennessee statute. There is actually a case where someone was found to be "in control" of his vehicle because he was merely walking toward it in a parking lot. The problem with the statute, as written, is that it doesn't allow someone to do the safe thing and sleep it off in their vehicle. Instead, it incentives someone trying to drive home and get off the road.

As I posted before, mine is a very early Gen 4 that I had a shop order as soon as they could get it. I called and got the newer spring assembly no problem. They always offered the fix and I'm not sure how they could have handled it any better.

I got rid of my LCP because it wasn't fun to shoot. I said I didn't want to hassle with trying to find .380 ammo and my Glock 26 is small enough. Just like you, I then decided there are occasions when the size/weight of the Keltec/LCP/TCP is just too easy. For me it's either running/bike riding or the occasional hot weather social event where I'm concerned about printing. Anyway, I started looking for a LCP or a TCP when I found a deal on a P3AT which was parkerized. The parked finish sold me since it's my exercise gun. I haven't had any issues whatsoever and while it's not fun to shoot, for some reason I'm a little more accurate that I was with my LCP. I think it must be that the rougher grip is easier to hold on to. While it's not pretty, I can't find any reason to say that it's not as good as my LCP. It is my impression however, that any of the small .380 pocket guns are probably more suspect to be picky about hollow points and less likely to tolerate being dirty than your typical XD, M&P, Sig, Glock etc... My P3AT runs fine on fiocchi, WWB, Remmington, and Hornady Critical Defense which it's currently loaded with.

Anyone with one of these terrible Gen 4s just send me a PM and I'll take that junk off your hands. I hear these rumors of problems with the Gen 4s but I can't seem to find anyone willing to sell me one cheap and then let me deal with getting an updated spring for it. *BTW; My legal assistant has become interested in handguns and possibly getting an HCP. He picked my 17 out my small collection since I said it shoots softer than my other pistols. His previous experience was one trip where he shot a few .38s through a large frame .357 and put a few rounds down a 5" steel frame 1911. He put 100 flawless rounds down my Gen 4 17 at Coal Creek last week. I don't count rounds and but that's definitely over 1000 now. The only complaint is that he was surprised that a 9mm would have so much recoil (his words). Obviously, it's probably half the weight of the 1911 he tried out. Anyway, there you have it; a new shooter; not accustomed to recoil; shooting weak wal-mart ammo, no malfunctions whatsoever. Mine must be a fluke.
