OK, so in response to my email informing them they sent me the wrong holster, they forwarded the confirmation email to me just a minute ago. No written correspondence whatsoever, just an email. I know what I ordered, the problem is that's not what was in the package. I'm just glad this order was something cheap and I have several other holsters I can use.
-
I checked my bank account. I was only billed for the holster, not the backordered mag extension. They obviously got my multiple emails and voicemails asking them to cancel the backordered item. It seems they could have taken two seconds to send an email acknowledging the cancellation. I just hope they don't expect me to pay postage to send the holster back to them since it was incorrect. Hopefully they'll send the correct holster with a return envelope in the package.

I've dealt with domestic violence cases for years in the legal system. There is no doubt in my mind that they have to be one of the most dangerous and unpredictable situations for Law Enforcement. My prayers go out to the Officer.

Ok, so I ordered from Botach having heard previous complaints of spotty customer service. My order was a Glock sport/combat holster to replace one that I permanantly fixed to an undisclosed location and a pearce grip extension for a G26 mag. Both showed "in stock" on the website. I got an email last week saying the mag ext was backordered. I've called three times and emailed to cancel the extenion as I'd rather pay a buck more at a local shop than wait. The only reason I made the order in the first place is b/c I really like the Glock Sport/Combat holster (best bang for the buck and most concealable OWB I've tried) and I couldn't find on at a local shop. So I open the package today and the back of it says "L", sure enough they sent me the one that is for the .45/10mm and not the 9mm/.40./.357 size. I rechecked my email order confirmation and sure enough it says 9mm/.40/.357. I called today and of course was on hold and then got a voice mail. I re-post if they ever send me the correct holster and refund me for the pearce grip extension.

I posted earlier without first reading the article. You are correct. However, I don't think bond is even a possibility. I really hate that the families will have to go through another trial.

They won't be released unless an appeal is sucessful.

My kit works fine for me, but I do clean it after every use and I usually shoot it about 100 rounds at a time. It runs 100% with Mini-mags, about 98% with Remington Golden Bullets in the 550 round Walmart value packs, and it is so poor with Federal that I won't buy anymore and what I do have I'll use in my AR with the Ceiner kit. My AA kit is reliable enough for me and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one. This reminds me, I need to buy some a few more magazines for mine. I seem to rember reading somewhere that AA is working on 15 round, flush fitting magazines so I waited to order some more but I don't see them on their site. I'd rather not buy the 25 round extended mags...

This is where the larger, but still flat, Gen 4 mag release really shines.

My 4th Generation 17 has been great. I haven't been shooting much lately so I made a quick lunchtime stop into Coal Creek Armory. Another 80 or so rounds through it with no problems.

You probably can't go wrong with a Glock or a Sig. You just have to decide if you want a consistant trigger pull or if you prefer the additional "safety" of having a really heavy initial pull that transitions to a really sweet single action pull. If you go with a DA/SA you you might look into the Sig Sauer SP2022 which is a polymer frame, but with an action similar to the 229 or 226. The 2022 model is pricecd very competitively and I've not seen any bad reviews on it. Also, if you decide you like a consistant pull you might consider the Smith & Wesson M&P line which the most proven Glock copy.

Off-duty or retired LEO needs no permit???
JReedEsq replied to -Bristol-'s topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
There were at least three LEOs in my HCP class the reasons stated by Fallguy. It wasn't a large class but I planned to go with a couple of law school friends so it seemed like everyone in the class was either a cop, a lawyer, or a woman over 40. -
This is exactly how I feel. There are so many cool things to do in the world that I can respect other peoples hobbies etc... even if I don't take part. When I have mountain biking friends who complain about horse poop or a trail closure for a hunt day, or when I used to get yelled at by hippie hikers in Oregon for mountain biking etc, or when I've read about people complaining about "damage" to rock formations caused by climbers ... I always find it ironic that people enjoy a certain activity but they don't want to tolerate even the slightest inconvience for something they don't do. Personally, I see so many fun things to do that the only thing I don't understand is people who sit at home in front of the tv or live in a shopping mall...

Maybe the title of the thread should have been "slacking LEO creates traffic jam".

+1000 Some people just like to complain. Personally, I can respect about any outdoor activity that someone wants to participate in. Closing my favorite mountain bike trails for a trail running race for a few hours on a Saturday morning? Ok by me. Close the park for an entire weekend for a deer hunting? Thanks hunters, I'm tired of bambi being in my way...

Absolutely; with a kydex holster, it is square enough to like like a wallet or an IPhone in an otterbox. People might might wonder about a lump under your shirt at 3:30 but not think twice about you having something in your pocket.

I'm not a revolver shooter but I am interested in the responses. I've read/heard a lot of conflicting information about whether heavy for caliber or light for caliber recoils more.

Get a Gen 4 if you need the backstrap sizing option. Otherwise just get whichever find a deal on and you'll be fine. Remember that Gen 4s usually come with 3 magazines instead of two so this offsets some of the price difference.
-
Word on the street is that the Gen 4s are heavier. My early Gen 4 17 did feel heavier at first but nothing that 1,000 rounds and a bit of dryfiring didn't cure. I like to leave my guns stock so that's what it took for me to get my 17's trigger to break like my 19. I'll agree that the Glock doesn't have a very satisfying sound upon dry firing. It's the short, tactile reset that makes me stick with them. I don't think anything else compares if you limit the discussion to stock setups.

I didn't think it was notworthy enough for a threat but I recently decided to give my Crossbreed a little trim when I realized that I couldn't draw from it as well as I can with my Galco summer comfort IWB. My CB is now midway between a normal and a "combat cut" from CB. I did the cut with some sharp kitchen shears and, for me, it took nothing away from the comfort of the holster.

. I love it. It won't work in every pair of pants, but my experience is that people don't pay much attention to a bulge in your pocket. With the right holster, it is square enough to look like a wallet or a phone. Edit: This is one application where I'd definitely recommend Kydex over leather. I have one of these: www.lefthandholster.com in OD to match my OD green 26.

University of Denver offers both a 3 year and a 4 year program. I though I'd like to live in CO but University of Colorado, Oregon and UT all had better rankings academically. I came back home for law school at UT, met my wife and now I'm probably stuck in Knoxville forever. I'd definitely recommend an accredited school. The job market for young lawyers is hard enough already. If you want to be a litigator you'd better have thick skin and expect that nearly everyone you talk to all day will be upset about something.

The 20 round Thermolds can be had for dirt cheap and mine work just fine for the range. I'd grab 30 round PMags in an actual emergency situation, but for the range, I can't find fault with the Thermolds. If I remember correctly there were some older Thermolds that have bad reviews, but I couldn't find any negative reviews on the newer ones that are made in North Carolina.
