It's a little better than the texture of the Gen 4s.

I have sold a few bikes for $2,000-$3,000 on Ebay. If I remember correctly I think I bought one for $1,700 or $1,800 on their probably 10 years ago. I've never had any problems. As others have said. If you deal with someone who has high seller ratings, being well-informed about what you are looking at is more of an issue than misrepresentation etc..

Kid arrested at 8th grade dance with a gun.

And I'm always surprised at people who think nothing bad happens at private schools. I've got no issue with private schools but there isn't any place you can stick your kids and stop paying attention. -
I'm sure some on this forum don't believe it but this is the attitude of the majority of cyclists. Before 5 people tell me that cyclists are all a bunch of self-obsessed, narcissistic pansies wearing silly clothing, just consider this: Even if the cyclist isn't trying to be courteous, It's really not fun to block traffic. Most cyclists will avoid it whenever possible and keep it to a minimum. Unfortunately the seasoned and smart cyclist who you zoom by because he's not blocking traffic or the one who only holds you up for a minute because he's going 35 mph on a downhill isn't the one that leaves a lasting impression. It's simply human nature that you'll remember the guy who's blocking you on your way to work because he's just bought a bike and he thinks he's making some kind of political statement about global warming. As fun as it might look to have a fat guy revving the engine of this Cutlass about a foot behind me while I'm riding it's just not that relaxing. LumberJack is right about certain drivers. A few months ago I was riding my bike to the office (a commute that is almost entirely on secondary roads and greenways btw) when I'm on a secondary road (not blocking anyone) with a flashing red light on the back of my bike for visibility in the morning fog and a lady pulls up to me and says, "If I don't hit you someone else will." Naturally, when a stranger yells something so pleasant to me I have to ask, "Is that some sort of threat?" She responds, "I could hit you if I wanted to"... Unfortunately Lumberjack is right there are people who are just intent on hurting someone they perceive as vulnerable. As for cyclists carrying, it happens. I personally know of a few people who got permits and .38 revolvers, small .22lr or .380 pistols just for this purpose. If you ask them they'll say they are for dogs. I've been bitten by a dog in the middle of nowhere before and it's not that fun. I usually just carry pepper spray if I'm riding with a large group. If I'm going to be way out in the middle of nowhere alone I might borrow my wife's Ruger LCR. A friend of mine was just telling my wife and I a few days ago the only reason he has a fanny pack so he can carry a firearm on a bike. I'm fairly certain this individual carries a small .40 and knows how to use it because he carries a bigger .40 for his job. I spent way too much time on this thread previously so I'm limiting my comments this time....

You get posers/dorky looking people in any sport. I have drawers full of that type of clothing, but any logo on mine is because that company actually sponsored a club I've raced with.

LAPD Settles w/ Women shot during Dornan manhunt

A judgment against a person as an individual is useless 99% of the time. The victims would be left without compensation. -

I have a Pathfinder (V6, 4x4) which is very similar mechanically and otherwise. It had around 15k on it when I purchased it, now has 71k. The radio of all things broke which you just don't expect on any newer vehicle. My wife likes the fact that we upgraded to a unit with a plug in for an I-Pod anyway. Otherwise, it has been completely trouble free. I prefer to pay cash for cars and keep them a while. I am definitely happy enough with the Pathfinder that I plan on putting lots of miles on it. With a 2-year-old, a 4-year-old, and a hyperactive 70 lb dog, a more expensive vehicle would only make me more likely to get irritated with every small scratch etc...

I'm not generally a fan either; but I think this color is so understated that it looks really good IMHO. Leaving the sights and trigger black does add a nice contrast. Might look even better with a black mag release and slide release, but I think it looks great as is.

Right now I believe availability is a factor. A lot of people are asking stupid prices for their used guns right now. If I want to buy a different handgun, I may not be certain how easy it is to locate and if the seller is expecting to sell it at a "panic" price. For instance I have a 4th Gen Glock 27 and although I like Glocks and I like .40; I think I like 9mm a little better in the subcompacts. I'm reluctant to sell my 27 since I've not seen many 4th Gen 26 models available lately and I don't dislike my 27. This is a trend I've seen on the various forums lately: Very specific trade requests. For example: Bubba has a 1911 and after shooting Johnny's Sig P226, he decides he's not that comfortable with "cocked and locked" for carry. Due to the political climate he can't find a Sig P226 in stores and the only ones online are priced very high due to coming with standard capacity magazines (the ones the guns are designed for, not low capacity 10 round magazines). Since Bubba doesn't really know what he might have to pay for a Sig right now, he posts an ad for trade only.

We were inside, but she did use regular plugs and my electronic muffs too. The LCR isn't the easiest gun to shoot, but I find it far easier for me, than an LCP or an airweight Smith. Why? The combination of a better trigger, better front sight, and far better grip. *Edit: I hope I'm allowed a little room for thread drift since I started the thread.

I finally got my wife to shoot the Ruger LCR today with 130 grain green box UMC. We have two small kids and a busy schedule so it's really hard for me to get her to the range. I picked up the LCR with her in mind since she's intimidated by semi-autos and has a hard time racking the slide etc.. Over the last week I've worked with her a little on grip, trigger press, and sight alignment with the revolver after our kids were in bed. I wanted to get her something she'd be comfortable with and something she might be able/willing to carry should she get a permit. I've been a little concerned that the LCR might have too much recoil. I'm happy to say she did well with it and she doesn't think it has any more recoil than my Glock 17 (????). I think this is really a testament to the soft Hogue grip and the increased comfort level she has since she is comfortable loading and unloading herself.

I would encourage him to consider 9mm if it is his first handgun. Mainly because target ammo is cheaper so he'll probably practice with it more. I've owned Glocks in .40 and 9mm and if I could only have one, it would be 9mm.

Did LAPD Kill Dorner for $1.1 Million ???
JReedEsq replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Some people don't miss any opportunity to break out their tinfoil. I get tired of it too. It is absolutely just as bad as folks on the other end of the political spectrum who never let a tragedy be a tragedy. It's always an opportunity for them to push their political agenda. -
This sounds like a non-story to me....

You should cough and tell people you have the flu. If it helps you can throw in the avian flu, swine flu or whatever the flavor of the month is. My work takes me to lots of interesting places that may not be that clean. Courthouses, jails, and occasionally meeting people in homes with lots of interesting smells etc... The last thing I ever want to do is bring home germs to my kids... I'm not shy at all about pulling out a note pad and using the notepad and/or my briefcase to make some space between me and whoever I'm talking to.

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
JReedEsq replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I actually working a case on a criminal docket in an East Tennessee Court (not Knox County, but close) a few years ago when a guy was being charged with an illegal knife charge for having it in his vehicle. He seemed like a really nice guy and his explanation to the judge was that he always worked outdoors and had carried rather large folding knives his entire life and had no idea it was illegal. As I was waiting for my client's case to be heard I had an opportunity to ask that guy's lawyer why he was being charged and made the comment that I'd be surprised by a charge like that in Knox County absent someone mouthing off to the LEO or guilty of some other crime. His lawyer informed me that it was a checkpoint issue with a young cop officer eager to issue lots of citations. I remember thinking that my morning would have been easier if they person I was representing was as sympathetic as the good old country boy with a knife. I think it had a favorable outcome for the guy but it's a great example of why you shouldn't ever be led to believe that because something is a "common practice" that you won't find yourself charged with a crime. -
Have you actually fired a shotgun with a pistol grip? Contrary to what you see on TV and movies, I think they are really hard to hit anything with. I'm by no means an expert, and I'm sure some people can do well with a pistol grip. I wouldn't have on a shot gun that is anything but a novelty myself. After having fired a 12 gauge with a pistol grip, a "tactical" recoil absorbing stock, and a traditional stock, I prefer the traditional stock by a significant margin over a "tactical" pistol grip stock and by a HUGE margin over only a pistol grip. For me, a pistol grip only stock would be pretty useless.

When I met your Wife, she said she just got into shooting so she'd get to hang out with you. either way, it's a win for you.

I'm of the opinion that you probably don't have to choose.... What do I mean by that? My doors and windows are all alarmed and our boxer roams the first floor of our house at night. He's a big baby, but he is loud and displays typical protective mannerisms for my wife and kids. I'm a light sleeper... I open and close the "quick access" pistol safe so often that it is automatic to my fingers....
-
I have a 2-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son. Unless I have one in a holster on my person, all my guns stay locked up. Most of the time they are all locked up in a big safe with at least one pistol in a small "quick access" safe. My 4 year old son is smart and curious. I don't trust any tall shelf etc... to keep dangerous things away from him. I also don't hide the existence of my guns from him. He knows what they are, that they are dangerous, not to touch them and that if he sees one somewhere else he's always supposed to tell an adult immediately.

You'll have a blast. I've been down in a kayak and in a raft. Super duper fun either way.

Because the 3rd gen subcompact (26/27/33) models have a dual-spring recoil assembly, the choice is purely personal preference. I like the gen 4 but the changes are definitely evolutionary. Just pick what feels best to you.
