Shooter convicted of 2nd degree murder...
lock n' load replied to lock n' load's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I should have made my title something different instead of "HCP holder sentenced" I don't know if he was an Alabama HCP holder so my bad for the misleading title... -

Just another reason for the anti-gunners to paint us as "loose cannons" or "vigilantes". smh... -

I agree. Having a HCP or not does not make one judge, jury and executioner or a LEO for that matter. Another example is the pharmacist in OK that was sentenced for shooting an assailant a few years ago. We as HCP holders must always remember that we do not have license to kill but to protect ourselves and loved ones. I have the feeling that he was looking for a reason to use deadly force when it wasn't warranted and then claimed self defense. He had made statements prior to the encounter that he would shoot if he saw the suspect. He got lucky to get second degree murder. It's like he planned out on "providing justice" if he encountered the suspect. That s premeditation to me. -
Opinions needed on red dot around $200
lock n' load replied to Erik88's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I too have astigmatism issues with red dots. I ended up going with a Vortex Spitfire 1x optic. The optic is a prism scope. It has a DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle that is etched into the glass. Because of this, one can use the optic even when the batteries die. It has 5 green and 5 red lighting intensities. I looked at several red dots but due the "starburst" patterns they displayed, I needed to go another route. They have 1x and 3x models available. I got mine through Amazon. -
My safe finally arrived...

I can change the interior lighting to multiple colors: blue, red, orange, yellow, green, etc. The only thing I kinda dislike is that the lights won't shut off unless I use the remote to turn them off. The guy at Old Glory Safes said they are looking at adding a sensor to turn it off. But all in all, it's not a big deal. I don't plan on accessing it unless I go to the range so it's not a deal breaker... -

Thanks. For the money, I think it was a good investment. I only got the 24 gun safe because I can't afford an arsenal (unless I win the lottery..lol). I have a few more guns I want to get but this should do nicely. -

Thanks Ronald_55. I got my account set up. I tried copying the link to the "Insert image from URL" but it wouldn't submit. Is there something else I need to do? Thanks. -

I bought the BR "Battle Ready" series safe but because of the promotion they were running, I got the SD "Super Duty" version of the safe instead. It was a pleasant surprise because I thought they had sent the wrong safe but I was informed that was intentional. I also want to thank Liz at Old Glory for setting up the shipping which was kinda complicated because I live on a dead end street and an 18-wheeler wouldn't be able to get down it. She arranged for another carrier with a box truck to deliver the safe and it arrived blemish and damage free. -
My safe finally arrived today. It is an Old Glory gun safe. I am really impressed with it. It is well built and pretty heavy (750 lbs). I like the interior LED lighting as I can change it to multiple colors. I also want to give a big shout out to Aaron Parker and his son with Parker Safes. Although I bought the safe direct from Old Glory, they did a top notch job on moving the safe carefully and took care not to damage the floors or the safe as they had to navigate up 6 steps and down a narrow hallway. He also explained how to open and operate my safe. I highly recommend them for any of your safe needs. Thanks Aaron. Will post pics as soon as I can shrink them down. Any good software downloads that will shrink .jpeg files down enough to post the pics?

I bought a gun safe made by Old Glory. The safe seems like it would be a good one. They were running a winter price break on them and I was able to finance the safe. Does anyone on here own one? If so, would it be comparable to a Superior safe? I wanted to get a Superior safe but couldn't find any options to finance one. Here's a link to the safe... https://www.oldglorygunsafes.com/large-24-gun-safe.html

I've been kinda curious about the PSA KS47 rifle. It's a possible alternative to the CMMG Mutant. Anyone ever shot one of these? Are they reliable and accurate?
-
I'm looking to upgrade my mil-spec trigger in my WW 7.62x39 rifle. Been looking at the PSA trigger that is $30 but don't think the trigger and hammer springs may be enough to set off the steel cased ammo I use. Anyone have any recommendations on springs that would work for the 7.62 round that would work with the PSA trigger?
-
I have a Windham Weaponry AR in 7.62x39. It's an "optics ready" gun with no fixed front sight so you can put whatever optic on it you want to. It's been a good gun. With almost 1,000 rounds through it, I haven't had any problems with mine. I bought mine just before the election for around close to $900 after taxes. It may be cheaper now that the gun scare is over with for the time being. WW was founded by the original owner of Bushmaster after he sold the business. I wanted to post a pic but I can't get the photo file size down enough to upload it.

Will definitely check this show out. Even though the war was over a few years before I was born, I have had the privilege to talk to some veterans and hear some of their stories. It seemed to be an unconventional war where one didn't always know who the enemy was. Those who disrespected our troops returning from that hell hole had no idea what they went through. I also want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of the Vietnam veterans who served their country with honor and gallantry. May their sacrifices never be forgotten.

I have an Alien Gear holster for my PT-111 and love it. Very comfortable and concealable. It has a neoprene backing that keeps from irritating the skin. The only downside is that the aggressive grip on the pistol can irritate your skin some. http://aliengearholsters.com/alien-gear-cloak-tuck-3-0-iwb-holster-inside-the-waistband.html

I like the Ruger AR556. It's a well made rifle that won't break the bank. Mine has been reliable and very accurate.

Well I bit the bullet and got the Geisselle SSA trigger from PSA. They were running a special on them for $189. I can't wait to install it on my rifle. Thanks to everyone for their help. Happy 4th everybody

Okay, I am looking to upgrade my standard trigger on my AR and was strongly leaning towards a Geissele. I am stuck between the SSA and the SSA-E triggers. Anyone on here who uses those? I have read that our Special Forces units use those triggers in their rifles and if they are good enough for them, then they are good enough for me. The other problem is that there are so many other choices...(Timney, CMC, POF, Wilson Combat, etc). Their website has them marked down from their original price of $240 to $192. I am really eager to wanting to purchase one but wanted some input before "pulling the trigger".
