just took a doe this weekend. one of the fattest I've ever taken.

Every Ruger rifle I've ever bought has a very very stiff bolt out of the box. I find that working the bolt a couple hundred times smooths it right out.

+1 on breaking in the bolt. Good little utility rifle. I really like it in the deer stand. 

Ok, maybe it's just me, but Glocks are ugly and meant to be ugly. That's the firearms equivalent of putting pearls on a pig.

Good bit of movement tonight. Saw a couple of 1 1/2 year old bucks and a few does with fawns. No shooters, but they are definitely up and moving.

Ruger Gunsite in .308. Topped off with a  Swarovski z6i 1-6x magnification. Suppressed so I don't have to wear ear pro and throwing a Remington core-lokt in 180gr. Should be a good setup for stand or stalking.

Lots of does and lots of fawns out at the farm. Only saw one decent buck but he was several hundred yards out. I did put one doe in the freezer... took forever to find one alone... I swear I've never seen more fawns out and about. Good opening weekend.

I use this ammo as practice rounds in my Safari guns... it shoots dirty (takes forever to clean the barrel afterwards) but the price is right and they always go bang and fly true. Good stuff. I've used it the soft points on whitetail as well and they did the job just fine.

Most modern lenses are made of poly carbonate... the same stuff your safety glasses are made from. Ask the guys who sell your glasses just to be sure, but I just wear my regular sunglasses to the range and they work just fine.

Never pay attention to what actors say. They are like dancing dogs... the act is amusing but the sounds the performer makes are entirely irrelevant.

We took one of those big metal tonka trucks and filled the cab with gasoline... light it up and rolled it down the hill. Waited for the flames to die down and did it again. Three times down the hill before the tires melted. Looking back I'm horrified, but at the time it was truly awesome.

For pocket carry it's hard to beat the LCP. 

Simunitions... all I have to say about that is... ouch.  Huge fun, great training tool, I'll be there for certain... but still... that's gonna hurt like a mother.
