  1. nice hooks. well done.
  2. Awesome event. The Saturday night shoot is a shooters wet dream.
  3. Can't go wrong w/ the Mossy 500
  4. Nice Hog! I bet he made for some good Easter eating.
  5. Tough hunt but I managed to bag a jake for easter dinner.
  6. Factory. Used the Hornady rounds. I was quite pleased with the results.
  7. Welcome! Stay safe over there and keep thinking about that first cold beer when you get back.
  8. Dang, opening day of turkey season is the 3rd. My shotgun has a previously scheduled engagement.
  9. +1 Pat Rogers. His biggest emphasis in his carbine course was to keep the bolt carrier lubed. If the bolt wasn't visibly wet, you'd get an ear full. Over the course of a week, I fired thousands of rounds (totally lost count) and didn't have a single malfunction.
  10. I love shooting my Mauser K98. I'm really tempted to mount a bayonet and go hog hunting with it.

    Cheatham WMA?

There are worse options. Just keep an eye out for the idiots that regularly show up out there.
  12. Cause this is what the Federal Government needs to be focused on. Not the economy, not the war, not on cleaning up the cess pool that is D.C. but useless regulations on small business.
  13. I am absolutely in love with that rifle and that cartridge is a freaking hammer! Thanks!
  14. Nice!
  15. The site has been so busy, I haven't been able to access it. I'd say there are a bunch of angry voters out there.
  16. Nice work
  17. Scouting trip was a huge success. Watched a gobbler fly down from his roost and was able to track him and his girls throughout the morning. He was extremely vocal and let me know right where they were so I didn't have to risk getting too close and bumping them. I can't get to his roost (don't have permission), but I'm pretty sure I know about where he'll be about an hour later... even got confirmation from a local farmer. Lord willing, we'll be eating wild turkey for Easter.
  18. I'm in if you need an extra hand. Just let me know when and where... I'll even buy the libations after the hunt.
  19. Scouting my opening day spot this weekend. Can't wait for the 3rd!
  20. Nice. Just spent a half hour watching hens feed. Can't wait til the season opens!
  21. The hunt was awesome. Caryonah lodge was great. Excellent hospitality, good food and my guide taught me a lot about hog hunting in a single day. I'll be much more confident going after porkers in the wild now.. glad I did a lodge hunt for the first one though. It was the first beautiful day of spring and the hogs were running like crazy. They refused to bay up and just kept running. After about two or three hours of watching the dogs chase a herd around the hollows, they finally charged right past where I was hiding. I took the lead boar at a full run from about 15 yards out. It wasn't a hunt in the classic sense, but it was a lot of fun. The boar was about 275 lbs and has been providing me w/ some excellent barbecue and pork chops. Oh an thanks to everyone who pointed me to the 45/70... that is an awesome big game cartridge... I made a nice double lung shot and I swear the 45/70 picked him up and threw him down the hill... it was like something out of a movie. He got back up and only made it a few steps before he gave it up. I used the Ruger #1 that I bought off this forum... great gun with a great big game cartridge... definitely enough gun for the job. Thanks for all of the help everyone! I have a freezer full of meat and am going after more hogs in Florida in a few weeks... this time with a bow.... bring it on!
  22. Walther PPS. Available in 9mm or .40... GREAT carry gun.
  23. It's Belle Meade, they've got money to burn. Rich Nashville libs with nothing better to do.
  24. Design by John Browning... need I say more?
  25. I'm heading down to Florida in a few weeks to try and bag an Osceola Turkey. Practicing my calls like mad. Never tried hunting down there so we'll see how it goes. Might try to let the air out of a hog or two while I'm at it.
