  1. I usually transport my guns in their factory case. Never had a problem as long as it's padlocked. Southwest is usually pretty buttoned up about firearm procedures.
  2. Nice. I'll have to try it out this fall.
  3. Depends on how they are killed. If you get the drop on em and they never know you are there, the pork tastes pretty durn good. If they've been running and their adrenaline is up they aren't much use for anything but sausage. As a rule, sows and younger animals have better meat for chops and hams.
  4. Karamojo Bell hunted elephants with a .275 Rigby... if your shot placement is good enough you can use pretty much anything you want. Personally, I'm not that good and will stick with my big bullets. Respect to anybody willing to go toe to hoof w/ a hog with nothing but a 9mm... that takes some stones.
  5. They are tough critters and you want to throw a big heavy rock. My .375 H&H Magnum does a pretty good job as well.
  6. I'm a big fan of the .45-70 for porkers. It stops the argument very quickly.
  7. Heh. True, true.
  8. That's awesome!
  9. Haslam, it turns out, is a dhimmi. I've got no problem with anyone worshiping whatever they want, but when you start trying to bring religious law into the courtroom... well that's a step too far.
  10. Hard to beat the good old EBR. Stock up on ammo and keep a good quality machete close at hand.

    AR-P220

    Very nice.
  12. I just ordered one. Thanks for the heads up.

    Ticks

Permetherin for clothes, DEET for the skin. If Deet doesn't work for you then check out Avon's skin so soft product line. It's got something in it that works pretty well. My wife swears by it.
  14. "Such a CME could result in a severe geomagnetic storm, causing aurora at low latitudes, with possible disruption to high frequency radio communication, global positioning systems (GPS), and power grids."
  15. Go with the shotgun. I have a mossberg 500 that I love, it's very tough...never used it for clays, but it's a beast of a self defense gun.
  16. It's pretty amazing how much damage the little devils can do. They've dropped a half dozen trees already and are working on several more. I've got some traps ordered and I guess I'll start hanging around down by the creek w/ a .22. Thanks for the advice.
  17. I've got a bunch of beaver moving in on my land. They are destroying the timber around my creek and it's high time I thinned their numbers a bit. Any suggestions on the best way to go about this?
  18. I'd stick with 45-70. I've squared off with a few 500 lb + hogs and was glad to have the extra stopping power.
  19. I've never had a problem with my Kimbers. Perfect out of the box. I will say that I only run quality ammo through them... I understand they don't react well to low end rounds.

    Hog hunts?

I've been to Loshbough Hunting lodge several times... great place and great hunts. Hogs are all born and raised wild on the property. I've had some great hunts there. Full disclosure - I've done work for them in the past.
  21. Someone here introduced me to Angels Envy... damn fine bourbon. Other than that, Woodford all the way.
  22. Check out Dark Fortress... it provided a lot of the inspiration for Star Wars.
  23. Merkel Double rifle in .375 H&H. Meat in the pot... that's all I'm saying.
  24. Thanks for the hard work David. Looks good!
  25. The 9mm is pretty snappy as well. The PPS is a nice compromise between a full sized 9mm and a pocket 9. It fills the hand and puts rounds accurately on target at self defense ranges. I carried one for a while but ultimately abandoned it because of the mag release. It's built into the trigger guard and I absolutely hated it. However, I seem to be the only one that's bugged by this. It conceals extremely well. Overall a really nice gun, just not my cup of tea.
