Senators Quietly Seeking New Path on Gun Control
bigwakes replied to Beretta Bob's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
"discussing ways they might support the bill, which would criminalize the shipping or transfer of guns to someone who is barred from possessing a firearm." Now there is a great idea. Make giving guns to criminals illegal. They should also add an amendment to the bill making murder illegal. -
I think it was very wise for the manager to not get into a shootout in the store with customers around. i once heard a DA say he would never charge someone who used a firearm to prevent or stop a crime. I'm not sure this would qualify, but I am very glad we still have some common sense DA's around.

My class in 2000 there was a lady that had to borrow a gun for the test. It was a 4" .38 and she was about 75 years old. She could barely hold the pistol up long enough to squeeze the trigger. One of the instructors held out his hand so she could rest the pistol as she shot. She passed. That convinced me they would not let anybody fail.

I understand all of these arguments, but is it appropriate for CNN to tell people were to go to find this information? Seems like they are helping potential terrorists. I think it makes us less safe. Not to mention basically giving out a link to an AL Qaeda propaganda web site.

They give the website and show pages of where to go to make bombs per Al Qaeda. http://amanpour.blogs.cnn.com/2013/04/23/did-al-qaeda-magazine-inspire-tsarnaev-brothers/ I understand that it's freedom of speech, but I'm wonder what their motivation is for showing their viewers including potential Muslim extremists exactly where to go for bomb making advice.

Buying only what you "need" is relative. This week I only need 100 rounds for the range, but if I can't find it for another 5 weeks I "need" 500 rounds. OP congrats on the score.

Some of the cold packs have a different compound that won't go boom. Just make sure it says "contains ammonium nitrate."

Yep. I shot 2 pounds and decided bigger is better. 12 pounds of Tannerite left me speechless.

Nikon has a great system for this. With any of their BDC scopes you go to their website and enter the caliber, weight of the bullet and the speed of the bullet. It will tell you what each dot represents for distance. It's down to the yard, like dot 3 hits center at 217 yards dot 4 286 yards, etc. http://spoton.nikonsportoptics.com/spoton/

Unimpressed with police work in Boston
bigwakes replied to jgradyc's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree with the OP. I don't see how they have a car chase, 200 rounds fired, one bad guy down, and one bad guy gets away in the car that was being chased. That sounds like the Dukes of Hazzard to me. Why did they wait nearly a full day to release photos of the bad guys. They say we have the suspects photos at a press conference, but we are only releasing them to law enforcement. That makes no sense now and made no sense when I heard it the first time. I think they could have saved a cops life by releasing the photos to the public. The bad guys were found within 12 hours of the release. I don't pretend to think I could do better, but we have the best and brightest federal and local agents on the scene and they decide to not let millions of people id the BG's as soon as possible. -
Went to see Magic Mike in the theater.....alone.....twice..

Found some .38 and .44 mag at my local Walmart a few days ago. I couldn't believe how excited I was to find caliber a I rarely shoot. I think this is gonna be the new norm for many months if not years.

Just signed up. Thanks for posting. This is one time procrastinating paid off.

I paid $500 for a new Ishmaz not too long ago.

I just found this Power Pot http://www.tntacticalsupply.com/powerpot-p-33828.html that charges USB devices over a fire. It uses Thermal Electricity to provide 5 watts of power to USb devices. It's so efficient that it will charge your cell phone in the same amount of time as plugging it into the wall.

N. Korea's Kim aims rockets at DC, LA, Hawaii and Austin
bigwakes replied to Good_Steward's topic in General Chat
Personally I think it was pretty stupid to provoke NK by running our B2s there in the first place. Why start some crap in the region. I don't think NK had any doubt what we are capable of. Why poke the hornets nest? Now we might have to kill a bunch of people so we can say nana nana boo boo we got cool planes? -
I got mine in Joelton at The Academy of Self Protection. Seems like the class was $50 or so. They teach you the non lethal/ lethal strikes and how to avoid an acidental lethal strike. For instance, always strike in a downward motion if trying for a thigh or knee strike. If you strike in an upward motion you may unintentionally stike the head, resulting in a lethal blow. They also briefly cover what the law considers justified lethal stikes. Similar to a hand gun carry class.

I got certified to carry an expandable baton. It's a 4 hour class and they give you a certificate card to keep in your wallet. Never seen a "no club zone" sticker, so I carry it where my second amendment rights are infringed. Prior to the recent legislation regarding parking lots it was my only weapon on the ride home too.

One of the best add ons to a bic lighter is a small piece of rubber from a bicycle intertube. If you get the right size it's a tight fit. When your ready for your fire cut a small piece of rubber off the tube and light it. It burns for a long time and saves your fuel. I cut a small piece of the rubber and wedge it in the end of a stick so I have a mini torch that can be placed under my pile of wood for starting. Plus it gives me a small satisfaction that I'm adding to the hole in the ozone. I just became a dealer for a company called Utility Flame https://www.utilityflame.com/pcms/?f=home. It's a gel that burns at 1375 degrees for several minutes. It's only byproduct is water vapor and sand, so completely safe to burn indoors.

I was in LA during the riots and the government was not ready for any part of that civil unrest. More recently Katrina was a mad house with no government intervention against criminals, just the law abiding citizens protecting their homes. I don't see that the government has been ready for civil unrest in the past. Maybe they are changing their strategy.....

I was there and did not see any facial recognitions scanners, but the last thing I remember between 2 and 3 pm was a guy dressed in black asking me to look at his pen. Show was good with a big crowd and lots of camping/ survival gear. Tons of manufacturers of very innovative tactical and survival stuff. Campfire pots that charge cell phones, solar generators, etc.

I understand there are new agencies and some people might even find a good reason for new agencies. My questions is do we have previous years where the government ( and all agencies that make up the government) have ordered ammo at these rates. Maybe they ordered more, maybe less. Just wondering if the information is available to compare to today.
-
I would like to know at what rate these agencies purchased ammo in 2000 to the present. Has there been a serious uptick in the government hoarding ammo or is this the norm and we are just hyper sensitive given the current administration. And don't forget "just because your paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you."
