  1. Wow that's a lot of ammo. Hope you reload. Where do you shoot?

  3. It's very stable. One thing I noticed is if I'm shooting with the bipod extended I can move a little left and right. I'm guessing that's by design to aquire a new target without lifting the rifle. The LEO version does not have medal inserts and the military version does. This is the metal insert one and does add some weight. I think anything you can put on the rail that serves more than one purpose is the way to go. It's heavy, but probably lighter than a bipod and seperate grip.
  4. Hoping to make some noise this weekend.
  5. I heard on the news just this week that the government is doing an investigation to see if some of the stuff on Ebay is from the Katrina relief. They say much of the cheapest MREs on Ebay is shipping from the gulf states. I'll have to check on the shelf life of MREs. I'll try to find another source on that one. Thanks for your input.
  6. I did use the utility knife trick and didn't lose any springs. I did have my wife look up while installing the front take down pin, just to make it easier to find if it went flying through the air. I was happy with how it came out. I traded for the upper on ARFCOM a couple of weeks ago and couldn't let it sit in the safe without a lower.
  7. This is the grip the class was teaching. This is my grip.
  8. Puting together the lower tonight and wondering about tips or somehing I should know so I don't screw it up. It's my first build and I promise to post pics. I have a punch kit and plan to use electrical tape to help prevent scratches. Any other wisdom?
  9. Looks good. Let us know how it shoots. How was the lower parts kit to install? I have that task scheduled for tonight on a build.
  10. I found a Spikes Tactical lower on Brownell's that I wanted for $89. Called around locally and found it about 45min away for $139. When I checked out at Brownell's the total was $107 by the time they add shipping and a few dollars for an FFL item fee. Picked it up yesterday from an FFL 15 minutes away and they added $30 even making it $137 (including transfer and background). I could have spent an extra hour driving and payed $13.36 for tax and bought local. If I had done the third grade math I would have gotten it locally.
  11. All good info. The Water Bob is a good idea. With the recent flood scare in Franklin the first thing we did was fill two bathtubs with water. I like the steri Pen, just curious on it's effectiveness. I know it will kill any living bacteria, but can't filter out possible chemicals in the water. I'll take a look at the others tonight. We would be looking at the pond behind our house as a possible emergency water supply if that helps with reccomendations. We also have two small kids, so leaving would be a last resort.
  12. We should start a support group. Never had interest in an AR till I got my first Glock. Now they both seem like Grimlins. I'm trying to tell my wife it's not my fault. Anyway, yes planning to go. I'm open on the time if someone wants to meet up.
  13. That is similar to the hold Denny was teaching except the thumbs were much higher. If I think about it I'll post some pics tonight of his way and my way.
  14. I'm building an EBR too. Should have the Daniel Defense parts kit in today and got the Spike's lower in Yesterday. If you plan to shoot skeet bring a box or two of clay pigeons. I got a couple boxes at Walmart, but Dick's Sporting good store and academy should have them too.
  15. In the class, Denny had our strong hand thumb underneath the weak hand thumb. Felt awkward to me like crossing my thumbs or something. I went back to what I have always done which is similar to Mike, but my weak hand thumb is not as far forward. It does have my strong hand thumb not coming into contact at all with the frame, but resting on my left thumb.
  16. Mine would have to be a Browning .50 cal. Second would be an M60.
  17. Might just become a success one day.
  18. I think we can use a few bags of chips if your up for it.
  19. I just found a youtube video that showed that. Pretty cool.
  20. I like Phill Valentine's take on the subject. If gay marriage is O.K. Where does it end....cousins....multiple wives....pets? It's leaves all of morality open to any liberal judge that happens to be sitting behind the bench at the time.
  21. Not to beat a dead horse or hijack a post, but this topic was discussed further by one of the owners of an XD who was there that day. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tactics-training/47171-series-1-tactical-handgun-course-oct-9th-dickson.html
  22. I needed a good laugh today.
  23. I thought that was legal in Kentucky.
