  1. I sent mine off yesterday. Hope it's under a month.
  2. I carry a G27 and carried a G26 before that. I just can't get away from reliability. It all depends on what feels right for you. I would go to a local range and shoot some demos to figure out which one feels better. I was carrying a G23 and only purchased the 26 after test firing and realizing I didn't give up much on accuracy if any over the G23.
  3. I'm in! I was commo in the military and have a ham license. I'm in Franklin.
  4. Found an interesting site for finding like minded people in your area. Prepper Groups
  5. I just took my Ham exam for this very reason. I know all to well how easy it is to lose landlines and cell towers. Think about the recent flood. Bellevue was without cell towers for a couple days and landlines were down for a week. The only backup plan I could think of was Ham radio. In regards to notifying loved ones, I think I would contact my brother in another state in advance to give him the details on who to notify via email. Make one phone call and then get about the business of surviving whatever situation is at hand.
  6. I'm finding it hard to really find any local groups. There are a few national groups with local chapters like www.zombiehunters.org. They get mixed reviews from most of the TGO community, but if you look past the crazies you can find some good people with good info. Chapter 24 is the local Nashville chapter, but you can find local members of the national organization in your area. Maybe TGO should start some local groups for this sort of thing. There is also the TN Zombie Response that I think have a lot of TGO members in that group. The whole idea of zombie anything is that if you are ready for a zombie appocalypse you should be ready for an earthquake, tornado, flood or anything else that might happen.
  7. I think I would just buy a junk car and put it on blocks in the front yard. That should give you a safe way to store 15-20 gallons. When you fill that up buy another car and some more blocks. I'm pretty sure I have some family members using this plan.
  8. He was charged with trespassing as if he was just in the yard goofing off. He broke into a home. That is at least breaking and entering if not home invasion. How ridiculous is that?
  9. Past my technician test. There is a test for the General exam in Columbia on March 26th. I think I'll study on my own for that one. The ARRL iPhone app really helped with studying.
  10. My basic plan is an AR and two Glocks. A full size .40 and subcompact .40 the full size has a 9mm conversion barrels so I have option in the event of ammo shortages. I have the Otis Molle tool kit on my BOB. It's light and seems to be an all around great cleaning kit.
  11. I had a guy tell me to have a kit in each bathroom that consists of painter's plastic, a zip tie, and a small hose. When a disaster happens you can put the plastic in your bathtub, fill with water and zip tie the plastic to keep water from evaporating or slowly going down the drain if there is a small leak. The hose is to push through the zip tie when you need water to syphon it out. Makes sense and it's something I have added to my water plan. The first thing I did with the recent floods was fill my tubs with water in case the water was shut off at some point.
  12. Well, I waited to send the rifle off until last week. I was mostly nervous about shipping a gun through UPS. I sent it and glad I did. They replaced the barrel and about 8 or 9 other internal parts. I don't know if they always change so much or the parts were defective. I was thoroughly impressed with their turn around time. Maybe I do need that GSG-5 pistol after all.
  13. Well I got my mags today. I had a good experience, but will not roll the dice again. Some things just are not worth the savings. Thanks for all the input guys.
  14. Got my tracking in under 10 hours. So far so good.

    Congrats!
  16. Just heard that from a buddy. I ordered 10 windowed Pmags. Not in a hurry, we will see how long it takes.
  17. Botachtactical.com has 25% off all Magpul if you use Magpul as the coupon code. Two days only. Brings windowed Pmags to under 13 bucks plus shipping.
  18. 61% I like it.
  19. I have heard good things about most Russian guns. I have had a moded S12 on my list for some time, but I can't bring myself to drop $900 on a shotgun. Maybe a sporter model is not too bad. Let us know how it runs with different loads. Congrats on the new piece.
  20. I was thinking the "flaming" in the title had to do with some gay. I was right. All the critics say if you like the Twilight Trilogy you will love a movie called Broke Back Mountain. Maybe check it out.
  21. Yes. The sights will line up in the lower 1/3 of the Eotech. I had a S&W M&P15 and like the standard Eotech mount. There is a quick detach screw that works well. It should come in the box. I would run it standard before dropping some cash on a riser.
  22. What about changing the design of the 5.56. The 5.45x39 Russian AK74 round is hollowed out in the tip, so the center of gravity is in the rear. When the round strikes a soft target it begins to tumble instantly. It's a 56 grain bullet moving at 2900fps and tumbles on impact every time. The round is a FMJ and is therefore Geneva Convention legal. I'm not saying use the 5.45, but use different metals to weight the round so it becomes unstable on impact. I would prefer they go to a 6.5 Grendel if they are looking for a 2000ft accurate rifle. 5.45x39
  23. I think the debate ends when you compare Kenesaw Georgia to D.C., New York, Chicago, or any other second amendment violating community. There is no doubt mor guns makes a community more safe and less guns makes a community less safe.
  24. Yep! I may be slightly more inclined to eat crappy food if I can pack some heat.
  25. I still think Obama is to blame.
