Teen faces felony after sex doll prank goes awry
bigwakes replied to MikePapa1's topic in General Chat
Since when does the perception of a crime lead to criminal charges. "The janitor saw a kid wearing a hoodie".....not illegal. "kid wearing hoodie carried a package"......not illegal. "kid wearing hoodie leaves package"........not illegal. "Janitor calls bomb squad".....kid faces charges. Looks like the janitor should be the one facing 8 years in prison. It's not like the kid put a fake bomb or called in a bomb threat. That would be like me locking my keys in my car, which I have been known to do. And someone call the cops because I had a coat hanger in the door. Would the cop arrest me because someone thought I was stealing a car? -
I don't know about anybody else, but I was in cold sweats when TGO was down over the weekend. I almost called the doc to get some Zoloft.... and then it was back and everything in the world was right again. Thanks David!

Can I preorder 2 of each? I guess the Glock revolver is the full auto version since it has a selector switch.

I need holster recommendations, Please....
bigwakes replied to SALK's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
And punctuation!I have a dozen or so holsters for my Glock. The Crossbread is by far the most comfortable of the IWBs I have tried. -
I like the idea of the drop menu idea. I would look at all of them anyway and it's easier to click on one link. I know on another forum they have you put city and state in the title if you are not willing to ship.

Is there a penalty for not notifying? I have shipped two guns to manufacturers for service and was never asked by the UPS guy who it was going to. I did mention they were firearms and the guy had a look on his face like "why are you telling me?"

Maybe my post gave to much credit to Uncle Sam. I am down right skeptical of any changes the Fed does that doesn't directly give me more rights. I could see the potential for misdeeds for sure.

It's not a Glock, but impressive non the less.

It looks like the national guard commander would be in charge. I think it makes sense to a degree. Could you imagine if our national guard went to Iraq and had autonomy from the active forces. It would be chaos and get people killed. Makes sense to have one commander over relief efforts too. I do see what you mean though.

You must get certified to carry an ASP. I got certified and carry one daily in my vehicle since my company chooses to violate my second amendment rights and not allow a firearm in the parking lot. The ASP is considered an impact weapon and the laws are the same as carrying a baseball bat or tire iron. There is no law against ownership, just against carrying in your vehicle or on your person. The class was $65 or so and is the same class a security guard must go through to carry one on the job. 4 hours if memory serves me correctly.

Glock 27 in a newly acquired Crossbread Supertuck (so comfortable.)

Your in Williamson county, so the first place to go is WCARES.ORG they have a tremendous amount of information and are always happy to help newcomers. I took a class through those guys and they sponsored the test that I took too.

I would get a Yeasu hand held radio. They are 5 Watts and dual band. The Williamson County repeated system is pretty amazing. Most of the ham towers in the county are on the same towers as police and fire radios with the same backup generator running the system. That tells me they would be up even if all hell broke loose. If you can talk to one tower in the county you can talk to all of them because it is a linked repeated system. The HT (handy talkie) is the best option for a first radio.

As far as I am aware the process is the police call the manufacturer with a suspect serial number. The manufacturer has a record of the distributor the gun was sold to and the distributor has the store information. Once they get it nailed down to the store the store finds the physical paper you signed to verify who the gun was sold to. Assuming the gun was not sold to a third party then they have the info for the owner. I would not call that a database. A database would allow the state to declare marshal law and then search a list of gun owners in the state or parts of the state to confinscate firearms. The current rules make it near impossible to get a list of gun owners for a given area.
-
Why do you need that information? The store would not hold to a warranty on the firearm. If you know what part of town I was in and the year you bought it some guys on here might be able to narrow it down. The manufacturer would be a better resource to tell you the store it was shipped to, but they might require legal paperwork to release that information. The TBI does not keep that paperwork. They are only called to verify your background check. They are not allowed to keep paperwork of who bought which gun from where because that would make a database of gun owners, which at the moment is not legal for the state to keep.

That is the one good thing Obama has done for America. More people than ever before have an interest in their second amendment rights. I guess it's a good thing unless you are waiting for a lane.

Man shoots self in head while showing how the safety works.
bigwakes replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
The good news is his friends have learned to never point a weapon at their head for any reason. I'm sure there will be a lawsuit that proves walmart was at fault for selling .22 shells and the manufacturer is at fault for not having a safety automatically engage when the gun is pointed at your own head. -
Self Defense via Vehicle Break In?
bigwakes replied to cyh1830's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You are authorized to use force to protect your property.....just not deadly force. I don't think I could see Joe meth head breaking into my car and just call the police. -
Great book! Take at look at "Survivors" by James Wesley Rawles. It's along the same lines.

I have a Vltor MUR upper without forward assist. The only time I ever needed it was at a rifle match in Dickson. I did a reload on the clock and the round did not seat fully into the chamber. It was close enough that I just pushed the bolt forward with my finger. My next AR will have a forward assist. In hindsite I should have just racked the charging handle to load another round.

Got a free Cobra Derringer - Firing pins seem to be hitting the rim.
bigwakes replied to TnShooter83's topic in Handguns
OS always has the best advice. Never dry fire a rim fire gun. My dad gave me a .22LR revolver because of a similar issue. Looks like it was dry fired plenty on all chambers. I have not tried to shoot it yet. -
I had the same problem recently with the gas block on an M&P15 optics ready model. They were true professionals about the whole thing and it was a great experience.
