alcohol...carry, but not on person
bigwakes replied to 93civEJ1's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm certain you know the law better than me, but doesn't it say you can't drink while carrying? So you cannot go into a restaurant with a weapon and have even one beer right? -
I took my class in 2000 at Range USA in Memphis. There was an 85 year old woman that could not hold the .38 revolver on target. One of the instructors held out his hand for her to rest the pistol on for every volley of shots. It was comical. I went with a guy from work. I had a Ruger P95 and he had a Ruger P87. I had one hole in the paper out to about 10 yards and he was all over the place. He looked at me and said his sights must be off. We traded and he was still all over the place.

Maybe Al Gore is on to something. I'm sure he is hurriedly scheduling a Global Climat Change Summit to fly his private jet to as we speak.

I helped my brother "take care" of a few feral cats around his farm. They don't do well with chickens. We just set out some live traps and made sure they would not be coming back.

Just loosen the belt a notch and your good.

If I plan to drink even one drink I leave the weapon at home. It will be up to the LEO to make the call and I don't want to leave my fate in his hands. If there is no weapon in the car, there is no chance for misinterpretation by anybody. I do keep the ASP in the vehicle since That's not addressed in any alcohol legislation yet. -
I love the Supertuck. I use it for my Glock 27 and will be ordering one soon for my Ruger LCR.

So how was day 2? Keep us posted.

It will suffice if you have a certificate on you. The class I went to gave a wallet size card to carry. There is no expiration and no need to get recertified as long as it was the TN class.

I'll be leading a team to Haiti in either January or February. I'll keep you posted if you want to join us.

They should make a law that murder is illegal. The only way to stop crazy people from killing is to have everyone in solitary confinement for the rest of their lives. Would we be having this discussion if Laughner stole a dump truck and ran it into Giffords and the crowd? The article makes a good point about enforcing the laws already on the books. That would have stopped Laughner too if you see all the police reports about this kid. He should have had a record that would have prevented a sale. But he would have just stolen a gun from his dad or uncle and would have prompted a different kind of legislation.

It's the AR you put in the bottom of the safe.

The District of Columbia Would Like To Sell You A Gun

Because lowly comen folk ain't smart enough to defend themselves. -
I have a Puxing 888 and a Yaesu FT-60. The Yaesu was about $240 and the Puxing was $80 shipped straight from China. They seem to work about the same. The Puxing has a larger screen with more lines of info, but the menu is easier to remember on the Yaesu. Congrats!

This is why I carry..especailly at night

My wife has had her permit for years, but mostly in case I leave the gun in her car by accident, less explaining if she has a permit. A few months ago she was at Kroger in the middle of the day. She was in produce when some scruffy looking dude was looking at her. She got her produce and moved to another isle, the BG followed. He approached and asked if she had a smoke, which she politely responded no. He started cussing her right in the isle. I told her she should have left the basket and asked a manager to walk her to her car. She went to the parking lot by herself looking around for the guy, but he never showed up. The next day we went to G&L and picked out a Ruger LCR. She carries kind of regular now. -
I was there in 2009 building an orphanage house at Rancho Ebenezer 2 hours outside of Tagusa Galpa. We went into the city one day to put a concrete floor in a house with just dirt. It was in partnership with a medical team. I learned magic and juggling years ago for mission trip. The kids love any attention you will give them. This will draw a crowd and give an excellent opportunity to deliver the Gospel. The people are as friendly as any place I have been. The people just want to be around Americans and have a ready ear to hear what you have to say. Not sure if this is your first trip, but be ready for an inward change as much as anything. I have changed the focus of my trips to Haiti in recent years, but hope to get back to Honduras one day.

I didn't think about the interstate commerce part of the transaction. My guess is if DC starts transferring guns there will never be an approved FFL in DC. the government needs to keep out of it. Anyone want to open a gun shop with me and move to DC? -

I have often thought I would pull out my wallet and "accidentally" drop it and hope the guy bends over to get it giving me a chance to draw the pistol. I carry at 5 O'clock, so maybe I would just pull the pistol first. -

You have to be smart and look for an opportunity. If no opportunity presents itself and the BG does not appear he is going to shoot anyone than comply. The law says you can't shoot him in the back on his way out the door. -
I'll time myself on the upcoming build.

I guess DC does not understand what the SUPREME COURT said. They cannot prevent firearm ownership. They have no right to regulate who brings guns in. -
Some times I foam at the mouth for a gun that I want, maybe I look rabid.

Check with The Academy of Self Protection in Joelton. It's a gun shop that offers classes too. I took my class there and was very satisfied with the instructors and content. When I called for a class they did not have one on the schedule. They scheduled it within a week.

Obama just did away with NASA because it is one more thing that makes this nation superior to every other country on earth and he can't stand that. Even a four year old can see that the big O is destroying this country from the inside out. All part of the plan?!?!?

Looks like functionality it would be great.
