Palmetto makes good stuff. Can't go wrong with Spikes Tactical either. A lot of the scopes that offer red and green come from NCStar that makes knock off and replica stuff. I'm sure this could be something else, but the slant of the front on the scope looks like some NCStar that I have seen.

Road Rage involving Oak Ridge officers in Knoxville
bigwakes replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm certain it was an assumption made after he found out he was dealing with cops. It's not too far of a leap to see a man holding a Glock, find out he is a cop and then assume it to be the caliber most other officers carry. I have had Glocks for the last ten years and have 4 at the moment in .40 and 9mm and have to read the caliber on the side before inserting a mag into the weapon. I have figured out on a few occasions that a .40 will fire the first 9mm out of a mag, but the case expands to the size of a .40 chamber, won't eject, and nearly sounds like a squib. (don't ask me how I know that) now all my 9mm Glock mags have blue base plates to prevent the error again. -
My email for Paypal and TGO are not the same. Pretty sure you just need to put your username in the instructions box.

If you go with the Glock you might start thinking of your sell price for the XD. You know my stance on the issue already. Plus I'm a certified armored and can help with anything you want to do to it. I have a 19 that has yet to make it to the range. Let me know when your headed down and I'll throw it in.

My dad always had a .22 or .25 auto around the house, but growing up in L.A. we didn't shoot very often. My love for guns came one night during the L.A. riots when a group of people behind our house set a dumpster and a couch on fire. Not even sure where the couch came from, but I think they hauled it back there to burn it. My dad had a single shot bolt action .22 and a couple other guys in the building had .22s as well. They went out back as I listened by my open bedroom window. The guys from the building didn't say anything. All I heard was "don't shoot, don't shoot, we'll put it out" I knew from that day forward I would always have a means to protect myself and family.

I do respect your interpretation of the law in many instances, but on this we have to disagree. Being punched in the nose or pushed to the ground does not constitute bodily injury. The other issue is how do you "prove beyond a reasonable doubt" to a jurry that the guy you shot was a bad guy and said anything unless he has a weapon or a means to carry out a threat of that magnitude. My understanding is if a perp makes a threat or even advances towards you and it's just you and him then you are gonna be in a fight, not a shooting. -

Maybe in your book, but I'm pretty sure in the book the District Attorney will reference it might say "Sticks and stones may break my bones." A verbal threat does not constitute fear for GREAT BODILY HARM! -
Glad to see another Franklinite. Welcome

It also doesn't say they Flew to the moon, so we can assume they did not. If they reported it they would have mentioned it. There was a witness that also called 911 and the story did not say she had a conflicting story. Looks like the cops "acted stupidly" to quote "The Great One." I also don't see Estes suing the PD if he was in the wrong. I hope he gets a bunch of money and some irresponsible cops find another job. There are very few reasons to pull a weapon on an unarmed man and I'm not sure that you could ever claim fear for great bodily harm in doing so. -
.380 vs .38+p........... ? which is more lethal ?
bigwakes replied to SonnyCrockett's topic in Handguns
Are we talking face nuts or throat? I usually tell people to carry 9mm or larger, but I understand some of the discussion here. All my defensive weapons are .40 and my range/ competition guns are 9mm. My carry weapon is a Glock 27 .40, but sometimes I just want light and simple so I put the wife's Ruger LCR .38 in a jacket or pants front pocket. -
Great story. I have been absent from TGO for about a week and a half. Every waking moment has been reading the diaries. Now I'm caught up and not sure how to spend my days.
-
I'm gonna try it, piss and defocate on myself all week and I'll let you know how it goes. It has been said that when one dies they release bodily functions. I have seen a few people die and never witnessed that. Of course they were all I'll and in the hospital likely not eating much at the end.

My iPhone has a decent light, but I have a surfire G2 and a 3D Maglite in the truck. The surefire to see what I'm hitting with the maglite.

Yep, Santa was making me nervous so I ordered the SAIGA 12 myself. Didn't want Obama shutting down Christmas because Santa was making kids happy with ugly black boom sticks.
-
I ordered my SAIGA 12 from Classic Arms. They said it would ship last week, but they got held up in customs. They said likely won't ship till after Christmas.

Nice looking build.

Yep. If it's a shooter don't pay the extra money. The only way it could be worth more to you is if you or a loved one was in the THP and that meant something to you.

If it's during business hours you can call the Nashville Metro PD and give them the serial number. They can do an instant check in their system to see if it's in the database as stolen or used in a crime. That's not a national search, but local and the main thing is tell the guy your buying from that you want to do that. If he knows it's stolen that will be a deal breaker for him. I have bought and sold over a dozen firearms over the years without one question or concern about the seller or gun. It's not like the movies with a guy in an alley with an open trunk. You might also want to be cautious when you inspect the firearm that you do so discreetly and if you don't have a HCP make sure you don't have any ammo on you or near the firearm when you store it to take it home.
-
At least 80% like the "buy a guns for Christmas presents" option even though the article made it clear that was illegal. I think the other 20% fail to realize peace is only achieved with a larger caliber than the other guy.

Looks like stitches on the left side of his head. I wonder if he "accidentally" shot himself in the foot before or after his face went into the garbage disposal?

They should have to turn in their guns to get welfare and food stamps.

I am using exclusively Spikes for my AR lowers. The finish is perfect, price is right, and I see no reason to have a lower without a really cool spider logo. My next one will likely be the skull and cross bones lower from Spikes.

Check out Beprepared.com. My wife does coupons and even with coupons we couldn't get beans cheaper than they send it to your door. They charge no more than $12 per order for shipping.

Do the authorities take yours?
bigwakes replied to Steelharp's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I was reading in the NRA magazine that an elderly woman used a .22 magnum revolver to kill an intruder and the officer on the scene reloaded the two empty cases for her. I bet it depends on the jurisdiction, circumstances, or even the officer on the scene.
