Firearm Discharged @ Murfreesboro Publix
bigwakes replied to D3vo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Wonder why police refuse to answer if he got a citation? How many guns out there fire when dropped? I'm guessing someone dropped it after removing his trigger from the trigger guard and screaming "it went off all by itself." -
Down in Haiti they build cinder block walls and mound up the top of the wall with mortar and stick shards of broken bottles in the mortar. I mistakenly put my hand on a wall to lean on it. Luckily felt the glass before I got cut. Most of the fence walls are tall enough you don't even see the broken glass from the ground.

Converted generator to propane and natural gas
bigwakes replied to bigwakes's topic in Survival and Preparedness
That's why I did it. We have a travel trailer with up to 60lbs of propane plus the 20lb tanks we can throw in the back of the truck for boondocking the trailer. Propane weighs 4.22lbs per gallon so there is 4.75 gallons per tank for the grill size 20lb tanks. Not sure how long it will run, but my 5k runs 10 hours on the 9 gallon gas tank. I'm guessing 5 hours on the 20lb tank. Although propane doesn't give you quite as many horse power from what I read on the interwebs. The great thing is 20% less carbon monoxide emissions. It still runs on gasoline. You just turn off the tank and turn the gasoline back on. I will always turn off the fuel source to kill the engine to make sure there is no fuel mixing going on. The total was $193 including return shipping. Seems high, but look at the price of tri-fuel generators and it seems a little more reasonable. -
I was tossing around the idea of buying a propane generator when I found people that convert your existing gas generator to diesel. I sent my Generac GP5000 carburetor off to Central Maine Diesel to be converted. A week later I got the carb back. They basically just drill a hole in the carb and drop a pipe in that is connected to a half inch hose. That hose goes to the secondary regulator that brings the propane into the carb at a steady 1/2 psi. And it works! I had some issues initially because I did not realize the secondary regulator attached to the generator needs a low psi input. Once I put the high pressure regulator at the bottle it fired right and works like a champ.

Uselton's in Franklin had a range. They are close to I-65 and Hwy 96. There are people with mixed feelings about the store, but they have a decent range. I would say your local gun shop would rather make a deal than have you transfer the gun from another state. I know I have heard of Franklin Gun matching prices from some online deals. It can't hurt to ask and if they get offended they might be in the wrong business.

I sometimes carry my wife's Ruger LCR. If I do carry it it's in my front pants pocket. I carry my Glock 27 most of the time IWB, but occasionally pocket carry that too. I personally would rather have 10 rounds of .40 than 5 rounds of .38 SPL. You might make your way to an indoor range and rent some revolvers and semiautos to see what fits you. Focus on doing quick reloads with a revolver. You can probably put 19 rounds through the Glock in the time it takes to reload the next 5 in the SP101.

I've tried, but they don't like the taste. Any suggestions?

Had a few ideas for you till I read this. Good luck my friend.

It's certainly tragic, but if the neigbors saw them spank her they might be in some big trouble too. I know 3 hours is excessive and certainly not properly hydrating the child is abuse in this situation. I'm with Caster that they must have been doing some pretty crazy stuff to this kid either mentally or physcally to get her to run for 3 hours. I can't even get my 5 year old to take a bath.

At least none of these guys said they accidentally shot themselves.

I had an issue with an M&P15 that had a crooked gas block. Never noticed it because I ran optics with no BUIS. I put a set of backup iron sites on and noticed the issue 2 years after purchase. They sent a FedEx label to me and I called FedEx to setup a pickup. I had the gun back in about 2 weeks. It was the best customer service return experience in any industry I have had.

I have bought several guns from Tracy. Thanks for letting us know.

School police officer kills neighbor over Chihuahua
bigwakes replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Seems fishy to me. A struggle over a firearm typically ends in a single Oh S*^# shot in the movies. Doesn't seem likely a struggle over a firearm results in 6 shots including 2 to the throat. I guess we will wait to see what happens. I kind of hope the permit was revoked to keep the libs from having ammo. Doesn't seem like the permit is an issue since he was on his porch when the confrontation took place. -
I took my wife to Guns and Leather in Greenbriar to pull some triggers. Her favorite trigger was the LCR. There were some S&W revolvers she literally could not pull the trigger on. She likes the weight when she puts it in a jacket pocket, it's less obvious since the right side is not sagging so low. It's no fun at the range, but that's what the Ruger GP100 is for. She shoots the LCR fine with +P ammo though.

Dude you lost me! What are you talking about? I'm answering the question in the title. Trolling According to Wiki: In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2]extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4] The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted".

Ok, let's say police departments pick the cheapest handguns on the market........if you want. But why is the pro circuit covered in Glock 34s? Sponsored shooters who don't even pay for their guns or ammunition choose Glock as much or more than police departments. I guess they have to pick the cheapest gun on the market too.

They are a bit like Grimlins. I'm pretty sure ARs come from feeding Glocks after midnight.

My first Glock was a 23 since I wanted .40 firepower and something comfortable at the range. After I got a real job I sold the 23 and bought a 27 for concealment and a 35 for the range with a 9mm conversion. I do miss the 23 though and will likely add that to the collection. They are kind of like baseball cards, there is no real reason to just have one. The 22 is my home defense gun and the 19 and 34 for more fun at the range.

You could get the PX4 now and then get the Glock after you sell the PX4 or you could just get the Glock now, your call. There are two kinds of people in this world.....those who love Glocks......and those who don't love Glocks YET! The question is "Why Glock?" 65% of police departments use Glocks and I bet it's not because they think their pretty. Think about all the other options in the world. They all combined make up the other 35%. police departments don't typically pick a firearm out of a hat, they do rigorous testing in different environments and make an educated decision (most of them anyway.) Maybe it's great marketing, may e Gaston just knows a lot of people in high places or maybe it's the best option out there.

Never been toO impressed. With his reputation he should have been less arrogant and named the store somehing else. He started with ridiculous range fees and then tried to back off the $3-400 membership fees a little too late. He could have started at $15/ session and had the place packed all the time. Tough to compete with CHMR for $50/ year 15 minutes south.

The auction I went to had about 150 properties go up on tue date of the sale. Most of the best properties I scoped out were paid off prior to the date of the sale. There was a house owned by a person with a California address that sold for $27000. That house had a tax assessment of $125000. Not a bad snag if it holds up. I suggest going by every property you are looking at. There were several that looked great on paper and arial view, but were pretty trashed when you pulled up. It was my first sale and I wasn't very organized. I'm hoping to clear $10-12000 for both properties early next year when the deeds come in. There are some risks, but if the bank has a note on the property they have the same rights to the property as the owner. If the bank doesn't pay the note within a year of the sale they now have an unsecured loan with the previous owner. I spoke to a person at the assessors office that said most real estate has the taxes paid by the lean holder so their property doesn't get sold at auction. I just went to see how things work and took the cash just to see what would happen. my wife was shocked I came home with anything.

Doomsday Prepper has his guns confiscated by the state of TN...
bigwakes replied to Zulu Cowboy's topic in General Chat
I have met David and talked with some friends of his. His guns were not siezed, he was just determined to be "mentally defective" and therefore cannot own a firearm. He transferred his firearms to another individual, the state did not take them. I'm still confused how you can be forced into a mental hospital, get released without a diagnosis, and it's assumed you are mentally defective because you were evaluated. If they thought he was a danger he would have spent more than a few days for observation. If your interested in helping David you can sign a petition for Haslam to overturn the ruling. http://www.change.org/petitions/governer-expunge-the-states-declaration-that-david-sarti-is-mentally-defective#sign -
HCP holder arrested for pulling weapon?
bigwakes replied to Hitower's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Top story on google is of course..........this thread! -
I started investigating property tax auctions. And I dont mean buy some DVD on late night tv. I mean calling surrounding counties to see when and where their tax sale is. Every county has one once or twice per year. I went to the Hickman County sale with $3000 in my pocket just to see what happened. I walked away with 5 acres of raw land for $1500 and 5 acres of land in lyles with a trailer on it that someone is renting. I paid $627 for 5 acres with the trailer. I can't sell or take possession until mid December this year. The trailer property sold for $16000 back in 2006. The original owner still has the right to buy the property back, but they have to give me my expenses plus 10% if they want the property back. We'll see if I make any money or lose $2000.
