  1. What have you guys been using with your cans? I'm thinking a factory threaded gun would be cheaper than buying a gun and threading the barrel. I'm also a little concerned about cutting out the front sight post on a gun that was not intended to be threaded. Looks like that's my only option with my 10/22 and want to avoid this with a bolt action. I have heard good things about the CZ452, but not sure if I have other options.
  2. I have a YHM Mite SS and YHM Phantom .308 QD SS pending and need to get a couple firearms threaded. Anybody reccomend a shop locally? I'm in middle TN. I'm looking to thread a Remington 700 .308, 10/22, and find a solution for a GSG5 that has a fake can to add the real can.
  3. You can adopt me and leave me all the good stuff. I went with a trust because I'm not sure who would be privy to the information that I have this weapon or that suppressor. I feel better knowing that just me, uncle sam and all the fine folks at TGO know what's in my safe.
  4. I don't see him living much long if he keeps that up. I want to see what happened the 30 secOnds after the video stopped.
  5. Camping with the family. Just awesome! Starting our dinner fire now.
  6. I understand the more specific background check, but my understanding is that a trust requires no background check. It doesn't make sense if they have the same wait time with nothing to do but stamp a piece of paper, review a trust document, and put it in the mail. I have a friend that sells class 3. One customer had 8 items pending at the same time. When the first one was approved he asked if they could approve the other 7 since they already did the background check on that customer and the answer was he will have to wait like everybody else. Seems like an easy way to clear someones work load if that's what they were trying to do. I had checks cashed on April 24th and 26th both went pending on May 29th and the ATF said look for them at the end of November or early December. For those who don't see the checks cashed in a timely manner mine hit my account as a debit transaction. I kept looking for checks to clear, but it was processed electronically and hit my account as a debit. By the time I realised it I was already pending. Thought they lost my paperwork and check.
  7. Chip Cain did mine as well. Great experience. I was considering the DIY route too, but in the long run it saved me a little heart burn knowing it was done right. And after seeing the 19 page document and legal mumbo jumbo I'm glad I didn't have to sort it out on my own. The price was worth the peace of mind.
  8. I agree it's a little tasteless, but a little humorous too.
  9. Another recommendation for Chip Cain. I called him on a Monday to setup the trust and by that Wednesday I was in his office signing the paperwork. Cost was $400 total and that was the cheapest I could find in the state. It helped his office is 2 miles from my house too.
  10. I stopped reading Union Creek when I realized the author says the exact same thing in every paragraph of each journal entry. He repeats himself over and over about mundane topics that don't have anything to do with the story. He never gives details and stops way short of completing side stories. Got frustrated and gave up.
  11. The regulator I have installed does not flow when the engine is turned off.
  12. I'm considering a .300 Blackout SBR. After seeing the prices of the complete SBRs out there I'm considering getting a pistol and then SBRing on a form 1 to let me shoot the thing as a pistol until the paperwork is approved at which time I would add the stock. Any flaws with this plan and anybody know of a manufacturer selling a 10-12.5" .300BLK pistol? I already have the trust in place for a .308 can that will hopefully be here in another 6 months.
  13. Sweet. Now I'm scouring the forums to figure out if I should build my own .300BLK Sbr or find a manufacturer that has one. I like the Phantom QD because it's designed to be compatible with my 5.56 with an AR QD flash hider. I shot the Titanium model from my dealer and it sounds great. A little worried about the weight, but in the end it came down to what he had in stock. The Titanium was not even gonna ship until October and then the wait started from there.
  14. Dropping mine in the mail today for a YHM Phantom .308 Stainless can.
  15. Yep. Got my receipt that said you can carry if you have that paper and a valid photo ID.
  16. Ft Lenardwood, MO 1996. Wouldn't do it again, but certainly certainly shaped my life.
  17. I saw a guy open carrying walking down Cool Springs Blvd in Cool Springs last week. Caught me off guard a bit.
  18. I might try to put my daughter on a random persons car hood or trunk and take the potential consequences of a pissed off owner. Doesn't sound like that was an option in the time you had. I used to work in homes and yards every day and I came in contact with plenty of dogs. I always had a 3 step approach. Step one was try to be friendly, let them smell the hand and all that jazz. Step two was give loud commands of stop and get back with a stomp on the ground which worked 95% of the time. I typically had a tool belt and step 3 was grab the largest item on the tool belt to put between me and the dog. I could strike with it if I needed, but only ever had to hit one dog. And the only dog that ever bit me, of course, never bit anyone before me. Luckily it was the heel of my boot and left some pretty nice teeth marks in the rubber of the heel and not my calf.
  19. Is this open for discussion? Just kidding. Glad he helped you out. He's helped me out a time or two as well.
  20. Keep your head in the sand brother, it won't be long now. Every socialist on the planet starts with disarming their populace! If Obama gets a second term he will have an Executive order restricting firearms in the first month. By his sixth month we will be lining up to turn them in. Just remember this prediction. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/12/28/president-obamas-anti-gun-agenda-shows-no-sign-stopping/
  21. I have never gotten a ticket while carrying. I hand my HCP even if not carrying just so they don't wonder why I didn't when the DL info comes up. The only time I didn't notify was an accident where a lady in a minivan smacked my mirror and she pulled over in a Publix parking lot scared she since she was alone. We exchanged info and the cop let me go and gave her a ticket. I didnt want to scare the other driver any more than she already was.
  22. I converted a Saiga 12 and used the YouTube videos and parts from Carolinashooters.com. Great guys to deal with and very competitive pricing. Looks good if I do say so myself!
  23. This Nashville group meets at the cannery several times a year. http://www.meetup.com/PROVIDENTLIVING/
  24. Got a book titled Wild Edible Plants by John Kallas for the Kindle for $.99. And an app for my iPhone that seems decent and gets updates called Wild Edibles.
  25. I say let the free market do it's thing. If I was selling trinkets and the demand went higher than I could keep up with I would think my prices are too low. If the next week I couldn't sell any I would drop my price. I agree the show is cheesy at best, but I think they are promoting firearm ownership and showing scary black rifles aren't that scary to the masses. I wouldn't mind owning a RJ Saiga 12, but I bought one for half price and learned a ton doing my own conversion.
