I have a cousin in PA with one of those cameras. He's always sending cool pics of wildlife. A couple of times he has snapped pics of bears. Pretty cool until you remember the camera is in his back yard.

I have been carrying my XD-9 without one in the chamber, but that is because I just got my HCP a few weeks ago and I wanted to get comfortable with carrying, holstering, handling, etc. I think I have built up enough muscle memory, and built some good habits that I am ready to go hot.

Interestingly, citizens do not have the right to vote for President and Vice President. Article 2, Section 1 says that the states will appoint Electors, the same number as the total of the state's Senators and Representatives. Then Ammendment 12 says those Electors choose the President and VP. It's really left up to each indivual state to decide how they select Electors. It just so happens that all of the states use popular votes of the Citizens. If a state wanted to, it could appoint Electors any way they choose, such as allowing the Governor to appoint them, or holding a vote by people who's first name is Joe, or whatever hair-brained idea they could come up with. Of course, the Citizens do elect other officials. If a state came up with a crazy method of selecting Electors, whoever came up with and approved the ide would be elected out. However, the 17th Ammendment specifially says the People will elect Senators. Now, think about this.. If I'm a lazy bum and would rather sit at home collecting welfare than go to work each day, who am I going to vote for? Obviously the person that will protect my government paycheck. I have not paid any taxes that fund welfare, every other hard working citizen has. Why should I get to have a vote in picking out the person who decides how that money is spent?

Proposed Gun Laws Now Being Considered in TN
analog_kidd replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So, the Gov't allows you to have this right, but then denies you that right on their property. I was hoping that this law would benefit those of us that work in Oak Ridge. -
Our local WM went up too. I paid $18.50 for a 100 box of 9mm, and <choke> $30 for a 100 box 0f .380 for my wife's gun. Instead of reloading, I'm just going to get my wife a 9mm. That'll cut my ammo costs in half. On that note, can somebody please tell me why .380 is so darn expensive? It's got less powder and lead than my 9mm's, but costs waaay more. I know they aren't as common and that makes the cost go up some. But nearly double? I've also been wondering is there anything cheaper than 9mm, but got more kick than a .22?

Gee, you can't think of one single good reason to carry a gun in the park?

I know what you mean. I don't understand the whole "Tolerence" thing. True tolerance would tolerate someone else's intolerance. Yet, what most of these types mean by tolerance is that we must tolerate their way of thinking. We are obviously wrong, and too ignorant to know it. Then, not only must we accept their thinking, we must embrace it and make it out own.

Paid for cars jsut drive better. Congrats! Oh, and wait a month or two for the Government cheese to roll in. Hey, they want you to spend it, so it's kind of like a rule. You may as well buy some toys.

I'm usually pretty cutting edge when it comes to getting onboard with new MS products, but I just can't like Vista. I decided if I had to learn a new O/S it would be Linux. My wife's laptop has Vista on it and I refuse to use it. BTW, has anyone seen that MS is offering free do-overs on all of their MCSE tests till summertime? Now is a good time to take on some of those certs.

I don't have the facts, but I remember a radio show one time saying more children are killed by drowing in 5-gallon buckets than with firearms every year. Where is the public outrage over evil 5-gallon buckets?

I just can't for the life of me figure out why Congress has to get involved with the Baseball steroid issue. If steroid abuse is against the law of the land, then the offenders should be prosecuted as drug abusers. If it's just against Baseball rules, then they should make their rules and enforce them. Why does Congress feel like they have to get in the middle of it all? Don't they have other, more important things to worry about? Why don't he players just tell the Congressmen to jump in a lake? I for one am tired of them thinking they are the judicial branch. Seems like they are always forming some sort of investigative committee, putting someone or some group on trial and handing out a punishment. I thought they were just supposed to make laws. Arrgh!

I agree, I think it will be McCain. I still think the Dem nomination is up for grabs, and I don't know which is the lesser of the two evils. Like him or not, Rush Limbaugh has an interesting theory. He says given the choice between the practically Liberal McCain and either of the two Dems, let the Dems win. This way they get the black eye for the next four years. Why should conservatives get a bad rap for a guy who is nearly a Dem anyway. Not sure I completely agree with that. A lot of damage can be done in the next four years. However, I am tired of getting "beat up" all the time by people who think Bush is the Devil.

What's the deal? Did they take over Charlies business when he closed. I knew they were getting a FFL, but I was not aware they had inventory.

Me too!

I like Frontier Firearms near Oak Ridge. They really pack a lot of stuff into a tiny store. The folks there are really knowledgable, and very helpful. They've taught me more about handgun ownership just in casual conversation than anyone else.

I also voted in the primaries. I try to vote any time the polls are open. What was the deal with voting for all the delagates this time? I can't remember ever having to do that before. Not sure how it is in your county, but here in Anderson County we had to select our presidential hopeful, and then 12 delegates to represent them. I had never heard of any of these people before. I also had not seen printed anywhere that this is how we were voting. I like to think that I am a pretty well informed voter, I always research any issues and try to make an intellegent choice, but I got to say this blind-sided me. Some candidates didn't even have 12 delegates to pick from, so you had to pick extras that claimed to support a different candidate.

I never thought my HCP would get here, but it finally came in yesterday. Took exactly 2 months. I think it got slowed down due to the Christmas time holidays. I'm just glad the waiting is over.

There is a ring tone that you may be able to put on your phone that can't be heard by adults. I thought it was crazy too, until my son demonstrated it and I saw that it really works. Apparently kids use it so that teachers don't hear their cell phones when they ring during class. I'm sure you could find more info on Google. My thought was set that up as her ring-tone, and you'll never hear the phone ring. As an extra bonus, if you have kids, the constant ringing may drive them nuts.

Dang! I've been waiting 60 days as of yesterday, and still nothing. You must be living right!

Excuse Me can I borrow..?? Panhandlers!!

I'm just about to start carrying (HCP due any day), and I've been wondering if putting your hand on your pistol and giving them a peek at it without actually drawing, is acceptable and legal. I'd assume it's legal, because it's still holstered and at this point it is no different than open carrying. I guess it could be considered brandishing, but not sure. Is there any tactical reason not to do this? Like, now they absolutely know you are carrying and could try to get the jump on you? My mindset is, pull it out only if you really intend to use it. -
I got my wife the Bersa .380. It's a nice gun, very concealable, and I think it shoots well. However, my wife can't shoot it very accurately. She does OK with my XD-9, but thought it had too much kick. I don't see much difference in the recoil myself. Also, teh mag only hold 7, so she is always reloading. For the price of the gun, you can't go wrong, especially for a backup or a glove-box gun. But the ammo price kills me. I get a box of 100 9mm for about $15, 100 .380's runs me $23.

1. This will hurt me more than it will hurt you! 2. Trust me!

Finally got my Carry Permit... woohoo!
analog_kidd replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Nope mine didn't come in today. I did my paperwork and printing on Dec 6. FailureDrill did his paperwork that day too, but waited a week for the printing. Not sure why his came first. I called on Monday to get an update, and the woman on the phone said that it had just been approved and was being sent for printing that day. She said to expect it in a week or two. I have a theory that the applications all come in and get stacked up on someone's desk somewhere. When they get around to processing some, they pull from the top opf the stack, which are the most recent ones. Oh well, it will be here soon. Then I too can make the initiation journey to Wally's place with the faint bulge on my hip. -
OK, that's the funniest thing I've seen all week. BTW, I'm a Network / Server Administrator
