  1. If you have a range nearby, you could try calling them and see if they would take it from you. At my local range, any misfired rounds you have, are to be thrown into the range with the rest of the brass.
  2. I would think the TSA would freak if they found this in your pocket at the metal detector line. Seems they may think you are attempting to smuggle a gun onboard with the assistance of others, one piece per person. Would you inform the TSA inspector that you were taking a part out of the gun?
  3. Brian, Thanks for posting the info and the email addresses, makes for easy copying and pasting. I just sent off an email to each of the Representatives.
  4. IF I had thought of this question I would have posted it in my "Makes me wonder why" thread.
  5. You could wear your badge with one of these...
  6. I know during a traffic stop in TN, an officer can request to temporarily disarm you they know you are carrying, but what about a cop who see's your gun printing, or peeking out whaile you are in a public place like a store. Can they legally make a big deal out of it and disarm you while they check you out? If they ask for your gun, do you have to surrender it? I know that he will eventually get to the bottom of the truth, but the hassel would be huge.

    Bersa

My wife has the Bersa Thunder .380, and I like it a lot. Very concealable, fits well in my hand for a small gun, very accurate. Not crazy about it only holding 7 rounds, but that is just the design of the gun. 7 rounds is way better than 5 knuckles. The only problem I ever had with it, sometimes the action returns to the ready to fire position after the last round is shot. Normally it stays in the locked back position like it should, but every once in a while it slides back. Not a big deal, but the gun goes "click" instead of "bang" and then you have to check it. Probably happend twice in 400 rounds.
  8. I live here in Oak Ridge. In the past few years our local city government has been grasping at straws to come up with ways to make some revenue. In the process, they accept just about any hairbrained idea, even if there is a slight chance it will succeed, and don't really put any thought into planning or future reprocussions. Anyway, some of the things they wanted to pass didn't really sit very well with the majority of the citizens. A grassroots group got together, passed around a petition to put the issue to a vote by the citizens. Our city charter provides for this checks and balances method of overturning bad legislation. It worked, they forced the issue to a vote in the general election and it was overturned. Now, my question is, is there any such thing in the TN state government? Can we get a petition circulated that would force either a vote among the general public, or even better force the issue to go to the floor of the House and get out of committee?
  9. Yep, I recently got mine. Didn't really need it, but you never know . Took about 4 or 5 weeks for mine to come through.
  10. If you have a Gander Mountain store nearby, they sell pink Taurus' in several different calibers. My wife was eyeing the 9mm. They look pretty nice. Gander Mountain is the only authorized dealer for them, so you have to go there. BTW, be forewarned if you do a search of "pink guns" on Google, you may find something that you weren't expecting.
  11. I always wondered about that too. I just can't get that satifying click-click sound from my XD when I aim at something. I thought i was doing something wrong.
  12. I was wondering why a rooster crows, but a crow doesn't rooster.
  13. Sooo, their going to use violence to protest their hatred of violence. Of course, it's all very clear to me now.
  14. I'm curious about the law restricting off-duty LEO's from carrying in a alchohol-serving restaurant. If they are eating lunch in a restaurant of this type, are they required to disarm before coming in? I wasn't sure if cops are "on duty" all day long or if they take a lunch hour like the rest of us. If they are breaking the law, would it be better or worse for our side to make an issue of it?
  15. I've never been, but my son has been several times. He said expect to park a few miles away form the track. Get there several hours early and walk around and see the sights. definitely bring some kind of ear protection, the silly putty style is good. Expect to be in traffic a looong time after the race. The short trip back to the Interstate will take a couple hours. Have fun!
  16. Did you look at the http://www.vitalchek.com/ website? My wife ordered one from there and it came back in less than a week. I went through the state (FL) to get mine and it took about three weeks. I think the vitalcheck option cost about $15-20, and you can even have it expedited for a few $$ more.
  17. I thought I'd start a thread for people to post questions that don't really require an answer, more of just observations about life. I got started thinking about this topic tonight while going to the gym. So here goes... Makes me wonder why people will drive around the Gym parking lot several times trying to get a close spot, instead of parking in the first one you find and actually WALK a little bit. It's the gym people!
  18. If you call or email them, and you don't live in their district, do they just blow you off, or do they actually listen?
  19. I tend to agree with Rabbi here. I think different things happen at different ages. I have a 19 year old that I wouldn't feel comfortable with carrying a handgun. Not that he isn't safe or doesn't know the rules of gun safety, we go shooting all the time together. But he is impulsive and would have the possibility of pulling his gun in the heat of an argument, or something along those lines. He lives on his own so that he can live by his rules. Fair enough, he's 19 and supports himself and pretty responsible overall. However, he drinks, and sometimes to excess. I guess he comes by that naturally, I did at his age (when it was legal at 18 by the way). I think a few more years may help with the maturity level and help avoid this behavior, and possibly some problems. Not to say that 21 year olds won't drink to excess, many do, but maybe the extra age helps with some young people. But starting when you're 18 and imature and impulsive and thinking that you'll live forever, will just start a bad pattern, early. Now, he is a smart kid, has lots of social and political beliefs that he has actually put a lot of thought into. I believe that he can truely make an educated decision on who he will vote for, and not just follow the "Rock the Vote" crowd. I believe most 18 year old kids are capable of this too. So, just going by my highly unscientific, one person study, I think that its not unreasonable to have different ages for different activities. If the one age for everything is a valid point, why don't we say if you can drive a car at 16, you should be able to have a beer? Or you shouldn't be able to dive a car till you're 21? That sounds kind of silly really.
  20. Is it just my perspective, or did it look like he fired awfully close to the mom and her little girl? Scary situation!
  21. Hey, maybe he's a "trained professional" and is qualified to handle a gun in this manner. Or maybe he just wants to show how safe a gun really is. You know, guns don't kill people....
  22. OK that's funniest thing I've heard all week! Can I have your permission to use it?
  23. I looked at the picture again and thought that the safety lever was on the wrong side. So I went to the SA webs site to look at it. Appears it's an ambidextrous safety, or a lever on both sides, just like the mag release. Very nice for left handers. I'm personally not a big fan of the safety on this gun, but it may give some people an extra level of comfort. As long as it's an option, I say they've done a good job in the design, based on the picture.
  24. Personally, I disarm before going into church. The main reason for me doing so is that I don't want to have someone catch a peek at my gun or holster, ot the outline of it under my shirt. Then it takes their focus off of what they came for and onto my gun. Now that said, I'm not opposed to carrying in church, and one day when I find the perfect hoster that doesn't profile, I probably will.
