Personally, I would get their permission to bring it in loaded. I like the idea of a lock box to bring it in and store it in the house, unloaded if that is their request. Be honest and say you'd rather not leave it in the car in case someone were to break in. Tell them that then there would be an armed criminal in the neighborhood. The reason for my thoughts are, this is your wife's parents. You probably need to respect them more than anyone else. If you piss them off, Thanksgiving and Christmas will suck forever. Your own parents will forgive you, friends will either forgive you or stop being your friend, but piss off your inlaws, and they will be mad, your wife will be mad, your dog will even look at you crosseyed. Now, that said, anywhere else I probably would deep conceal and move on.

How much you want to bet that when they are found not guilty, they will be escorted to the door and offered citizenship?

How Obama Got Elected -- interviews with voters.
analog_kidd replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This is just unbelievable. My biggest pet peeve is when uninformed people go vote. They pick a candidate based on hype, water cooler talk, or who has the best hairdo. I wish there could be a simple test asked before getting a ballot. I think this is one reason the Founding Fathers never intended for the general population to elect the president, and they set up the Electoral College. Unfortunately, the EC has been bastardized into the system we currently have. -
Well, I guess I'll ask for it tomorrow when I make my National Ammo Day purchase.
-
Well, no, actually I never have asked for it. I asked once what their economical stuff was, and they said WWB. They have never offered it as an option. I scan the shelf periodically and never see it. I guess next time I will ask.

Our Walmart in Oakridge never carries Blazer. I wonder if it's a regional thing?

I ordered a box of 700 for $139 from AIMSurplus last week. They said it would take them two weeks to just fill the order. That's how far back they are in shipping. Then add another week for shipping. Ugh!

Peace loving, tolerant homo-sexuals?
analog_kidd replied to bubbiesdad's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The problem with tolerence is that what these groups really mean is "Tolerate us". They don't want true tolerence. True tolerance would tolerate other people's intolerence. For instance, if I disagree with your lifestyle, but do nothing to you than state my opinion, I'm labeled intolerant. But I say that you should accept the fact that I disagree with you, just like you want me to accept you. Why should I have to do changing? -
You might be able to find one of those prepaid Visa / Matercards that you can transfer paypal funds to, and use that to buy online.

My wife has a Bersa, and really likes it. It shoots well, and is pretty accurate. Very easy to field strip and clean. The only problem I've ever had with it is once or twice the slide closed after the last bullet was ejected. Not a huge deal when practice shooting, but you don't know when you are empty until you hear the click, then you have to fully rack the slide when you put in a new magazine. It could have been that I didn't clean the gun properly. Like I said it happened once or twice, and never again. The only other issue I have, and it's not with the gun, but ammo is a bit pricey for it. Wally World target ammo is around $30 / box of 100. My wife doesn't want to spend that kind of money on ammo, so she rarely practices with it. You will hear a lot of people here say that the .380 is not a great SD round. That may or may not be true. I've heard that you definitely don't want to use hollowpoint ammo, just stick with the FMJ for better penetration. I'll also say that the .380 in your hand is better than nothing.

Well, that is funny. I called them Monday afternoon, and for about the fourth time in a row I got the exact same answer: "No we don't have any AK's, but there is a gun show this weekend, that's where you should go". I don't know what it is with the guy who answers the phone there. It's always the same person. Either he doesn't want to sell me a gun, or he is clueless to their inventory.

If the basis of the OP question was that "McCain is a shoe-in for TN, so why should I bother", I think that there are a lot more issues than just who's going to the President. Here in Oak Ridge, there were several issues I wanted to vote on. One of them was voting for a Republican in the state house seat where there is an incumbant Democrat. How about that for a reason? We need to unseat Naifeh as speaker to get some pro gun laws enacted, such as restaurant carry.

I have been planning on buying a new AK from Aim Surplus for a while now. Did a side job last week and made enough cash to pay for one, so I called today to place the order. The guy on the phone said that he had just sold out like 20 minutes before I called. He said that they were swamped today because everyone was "panic buying AK's". What's funny is last week I called to inquire about the gun, and see if they had them in stock. They said "Oh sure, we got a lot of them". Today they said they weren't sure when they would be getting any new ones in, and any that they got would be to fill backorders. Just my luck. Anyone know where I can get an inexpensive AK near Knoxville?

I don't think you have a "Duty" to vote, but I do think that if you vote, you have a duty to make an informed decision. I can't stand it when people go to the polls and have no idea who they are voting for or what the issues are. They just go in and mark random boxes.

Do you ever check the crime logs for your area?
analog_kidd replied to dunndw's topic in General Chat
I look for the reports in the Oak Ridger newspaper every week. -
Exactly who came to my mind.

Prank 1: I bought a big roll of yellow "Crime Scene - Do Not Cross" off E-Bay (you can find anything there) and wrapped my friends house while they were on vacation. For extra effect, my wife laid down on the carport and I traced her outline with chalk. Prank 2: I do this every year on April Fools day, and now most people are onto me, but I still get some of the newbies. We all carry text pagers at my job. I send an anonymous page for the victim to reply to an urgent call from some person at some number. Here are a few of the people and numbers I give... Liz Onya - Fazolies restaurant Lon Moore - Lawn Maintenance service / Mower sales & repair Mr. Lyon or Ms. Byrd - Knoxville Zoo (they got really mad the first year I used them, and now if you call on April 1, you get a recording that you may have gotten scammed. That joke keeps on giving to me) If you don't have pagers, then some of those "While you were out messsage pads work good too.

I got this nifty shop vac for Christmas one year, adn thought it would be perfect for cleaning out fireplace ashes after the coold down a day. Well I got everything out, and started sucking up the ashes, thinking how smart I was and congratulating myself on what a great job it was doing. When I finished I stood up and turned around to find that I did not install the filter, and all the ashes had been blown out the shop vac exhaust all over the living room. Took a long time to clean up the mess.

Some people just shouldn't be allowed to vote

Plus you definitely pay taxes on 401k, and IRA's, and I'd guess pensions. -
Slightly off topic, but... My dad tells the story of being at work once and a dog walked in front of him and his co-workers. The dog sat down and started licking himself. One of the co-workers said "I wish I could do that, ha ha". So my dad being pretty quick, said "Well, if you want, I'll hold his legs for you"

Wow! What a great page. I've stripped my MkIII 22/45 once, and it was quite the ordeal. This looks like it should make it easier. Thanks!

When I was a teenager, I had no experience with guns. My friend had a .22 rifle and he was showing it to me in his room. I asked if it was loaded and he said "No" and handed it to me. I sighted it in through the window on the neighbors house, car, etc. I had enough sense to not pull the trigger while aiming across the street. I couldn't resist pulling the trigger though, so I pointed it at the floor, pulled back and BANG! Learned a huge lesson that day. Ever since, every single gun I have ever handled was, as far as I was concerned, loaded, chambered and cocked. My friend had some serious 'splainin to do when his mom came running in totally freaked out.
