  1. I just read an article about IO that said they make 100% of the AK right here in the US, so there's no restrictions on them. I went to their web site, but could not find any information about this particular build, just a bunch of import stuff.
  2. I just emailed my Rep, Jim Hackworth, expressing my support for the bill. I was encouraged last week when he personally returned my phone call from the week prior. I had called him and left a message, which he promptly returned and got my voice mail. A few days later he called back again - good follow up! Anyway, I told him I was in favor of the Senate bill passing, and he said he expected it to pass. I'm definitely holding my breath.
  3. I'd be tempted to print out the TN code and hand deliver it to him at Kroger's, carrying of course.
  4. Got mine yesterday. I figured it was because I signed up for the free 1 year NRA membership. I've started getting other things since then too, like a CenterFire catalog.
  5. 2006 Yamaha V-Star Classic Silverado:
  6. Looks like it would be fun to holster!
  7. I've got a Keltek .380 on order, but this thread got me thinking about the .32 pistol. I've seen some used .32's recently, and I've been waiting over 2 months for the .380 to come in, so I thought about changing my plan. I got to thinking about price and availability of the .32 ammo, since .380 is so expensive and really scarce right now. I called Walmart and they said they get as much .32 as they do .380 - NONE. I asked their price on .32 target rounds and it was $18 for a box of 20! Almost a buck a round I think I'll stick to my original plan.
  8. I thought I read somewhere that the Senate bill passed WITH the age restriction, but without the time curfew. Can anyone verify that?
  9. You know, I see a pattern here. Everyone makes the call and the nice lady on the phone says everything is good and it'll be 7-14 days. Do you all think that making the call actually spurs them on to print the card? Or do you think it is just their standard answer to get you off the phone so she can get back to her solitaire game? It seems to me that most of the time it speeds things up. At least I hope so, cause my wife just called about her permit, and a nice lady on the other end of the line said it would be 7-14 days
  10. My dad had problems with raccoons eating and destroying his bird feeders. He took a 1x4 about two feet long, covered half with aluminum screen and put a metal tray on the other end, making sure the pan and screen didn't touch. Then he hooked up an electric fence shocker, one lead connected to the screen, one to the pan. When birds land on the tray to eat, they are safe, but a big old raccoon has to sit on the screen to eat the feed. When he touches the pan, the circuit is completed and he gets a really big surprise. It's even more fun to watch than the bug zapper
  11. Back in the 60's, before my dad met my mom, he tried to join the ARMY. He was denied because of his vision. Fast forward a few years, he is married, and I just was born and Vietnam is in full swing. He went down to the draft board to update his status (married with child) and the lady at the desk recognizes his name. His draft notice had just gone out. Seems they didn't need him before, but any blind bat can take point. Anyway, they pulled his notice and he didn't have to go.
  12. It's funny, my wife and I had this exact conversation about two weeks ago. There are several staff members at my church that use the word "crap" all the time, but would be totally offended if I said $#!+, which is the exact same thing. Not sure why some words are OK, and others aren't.
  13. Best line of the video... I had to decide whether I wanted to be a victim of his mercy.
  14. It's a rare occasion that I can't find some range ammo at the Oak Ridge Walmart. They usually have either WWB or Blazer.
  15. If only they made a Keltek P3AT or a ruger LCP sized pistol in 9mm. I think if someone did this, they would make a bunch of $$.
  16. I get kind of tired even going over to the ammo counter, but every time I'm in Walmart, I ask if they have .380 ammo. The story is always the same, "Haven't had it since December." Well, I went in on Wednesday and the guy said he had just gotten ten boxes in that morning. Of course it was all gone. I asked if it all went with one person, and he said no, it took three guys to clean him out. So that means someone in town here has got some. Come on and 'fess up if it was you. And, would you like to hook a brother up? The good news is maybe the stuff is flowing again.
  17. I'd say, if possible, deep conceal, wear just a t-shirt so that it is obvious you are not carrying on your hip, and they won't even think about it. After a time or two, they won't even remember.
  18. To me, I think the bill with the 11:00 restriction would have a better chance of passing. I just think it sits better with the sheeple. I don't like the restriction, but it's still waaay better than what we've got now, and if no HCP holders do anything stupid, then we can ammend the law in a year or two.
  19. I had the same thing happen to me all the time. I kept setting off the alarm every time I went into Walmart and Home Depot. One day after tripping the alarm a greeter at Walmart said "you want me to fix that for you?" He got out some magnetic bar, told me to lift each foot up and he ran the bar across my soles. Never had a problem again. I guess the magnet killed the security device imbedded in the sole. You might want to see if your WM has the magnet.
  20. Are you kidding me? $70 for a box of 50! Wallyworld sells it for $30 for a box of 100 (when they have it). NO THANKS! I'll wait till it comes in locally. Till then, I'll just carry the big gun.
  21. Exactly how does the bill get ammended? and if any Joe Blow proposes an ammendment, does it have to get added? I can't imagine a majority of the Rep's voting "aye" on these rediculous changes.
  22. They are quite impressive aren't they? On mine, I just carefully pushed the two halves together. I found that one cut would form a sharp point, and I would just push the point in. I have heard that some people will put one half in the freezer to make it smaller.
  23. I never heard anything either
  24. IF there are any guns going across the border, banning the guns are not going to make a bit of difference to the gun runners. Most of them are probably full automatics, which most of us can't even own, so they are already illegal guns. A ban will not affect the trade route at all.
