Doctor say's Go elsewhere for healthcare
analog_kidd replied to Hgunner's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Funny you should mention Dave Ramsey, he doesn't like the Health care reform either, as well as TARP, Cash for Clunkers, and automobile manufacturer bailouts. In fact he thinks that government should butt out and let people live their own lives, to success or failure. Here's a link to his thoughts on FOX news: Dave Ramsey on Health Reform -
Doctor say's Go elsewhere for healthcare
analog_kidd replied to Hgunner's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Wow, not even one? Not even the guy this whole thread is about? Seriously? I watch Fox news all the time too, and I see doctors on there that think this is a bad idea. Hannity has interviewed some that are considering leaving their practice because it will no longer be profitable. And yes I said profitable. Everyone, including doctors and me, are in it for profit. It's not a bad word. There have also been college students interviewed who claim to be changing their major from physician to something else because it's not worth putting yourself in debt for $100+K for a job that will never be able to pay that off. Maybe you should watch the news with your Socialist filter off once in a while. It might be eye opening. -
Doctor say's Go elsewhere for healthcare

I was thinking it would be interesting to see every doctor in America band together and go on a one day strike against Obamacare. I would think a lot of the Obama-lovers may have a change of heart if they realize that their doctor may not want to help them get well. Really, what good is free healthcare for all if nobody is there to give it? -
There is a very funny movie called Ghost Town that inspired me with regards to filling out forms. There is a scene where the main character is going in for a procedure at a hospital and the nurse is asking him questions for a form. They were things like are you married, do you drink, etc. He refuses to answer any of the questions saying they are "not pertinent to the procedure". And it was true, nothing she was asking made any difference at all for the reason he was going in. I feel the same way about the census. The only reason for the census is to determine the number of people living in an area so as to be able to calculate the number of members your state gets to the House of Representatives. Whether or not I own my house or what race I am is "not pertinent" and they plain just don't need to know. BTW, I only filled in the box that asked for number of people living in the house and mailed it on. If they come to my house, I'll have my copy of the constitution ready and ask them to show me why they need anything else.

At work, we all carry text pagers. I send out pages to coworkers like this.. Joe, please call Mr. Lyons @ 123-4567. Where the number is the zoo. in fact if you call the zoo on the first, they'll have a recording now saying if you're looking for Mr. Lyons, or Ms Byrd, you've been goofed with. Others I'm famous for.. Liz Onya - Number of Italian restaurant Lon Moore - Tractor Supply

Obamacare and the Death of Detroit
analog_kidd replied to Hgunner's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree. If you force insurance companies to accept pre-existing conditions, you have converted them from healthcare insurers to healthcare financers. The way insurance works is, you buy in while healthy, and the collective pay for those who get sick. Forcing them to accept pre-existing conditions will also force them to change their business model, which means premiums go way up for everyone. -
I use the F-bomb sometimes too, but I have enough self control to not use it in inappropriate situations. I don't use it when talking to MY boss, I don't use it at meetings, I would not use it if a mic was right next to me, and I would never use it in any sentance spoken to the (any) President. I just expect the people at the top to be a little more above the bar than that. I need to lower my expectations.

Did anyone notice that the first question (how many people) was in a shaded box, different than the rest of the form? That really is the only question they legally have authority to ask. I filled in that one box and mailed it off. If they want to know if they want to know if I kive in a house or trailer, or what color my skin is, they can see for them selves when they come to my house. Anything else they can figure out from my 1040. I'm not answering anything else.

If you don't mind the going back to the MOuntainHouse idea, my Walmart sells these backpacking stoves that screw on top of the little gas canisters. The whole thing fits easily into the palm of your hand and weighs less than a pound, even with the fuel. I think they are around $24 plus $5 for the fuel. Can boil a couple of cups of water in a few minutes. When your done, you can throw it in your bug out bag.

I always wondered why no matter what planet they went to, the aliens always spoke pefect English.

If you haven't done it yet, the Honey Creek Trail is the best hike in the BSF. It's got ladders bolted to the face of a cliff, caves that used to be indian dwellings, rock houses, a micro canyon, hiking up the creek bed, boulder scrambling. Unbelievable!

Hey, is that an NRA cap in the background? Sorry, I'm not allowed to look at the girl.

The one's that really irk me are the people who step out into the main drag in front of stores. They don't look, and then they take their time. Most times they mosey diagonally across the road so as to take even longer. As my mother taught me, I always look both ways before stepping out from a store. In my ever courteous, always thinking of others mentality, when a driver gives me the motion to go ahead, I usually double-time it straight across. My way of saying thanks for slowing down, I'll not delay you any further. Another sign of the decay of our society.

I keep thinking it would be easier and more cost effective to just deal with any effects of <makes quote marks with fingers> climate change, than to try and "fix" it.

With out a doubt, my favorite hike so far is the Honey Creek trail in the Big South Fork. I know you said GSM, but BSF is about the same distance, and you wont see as many people. This trail is awesome. Starts off with a 75' ladder bolted to a cliff, then goes up thru a canyon carved by the crreek. Bunch of huge rock houses, an old indian cave, several waterfalls, huge boulders stacked on top of each other that you crawl under. You keep wondering what is around the next corner. If you go, start off at the parking lot at the end of the road, climb down the ladder and go left (counter clockwise) around the loop trail. Oh, it's considered difficult, but I didn't think it was too hard. Also, you may get wet feet, so come prepared for that.

This has been around for quite a while now, but I love it. Added it to me speed dial I use it so much. For another Google service that will blow your mind, look into Google Voice. They give you a phone number for free. You create an account, and enter all the phones you are ever at (home, work, cell, mom's house, etc.) then when the Google numer is dialed, all the phones ring at the same time. Whichever phone gets answered first is the one that the call gets routed to. You can also use it to place long distance calls for free. Just call your Google number (a local call) from any of the phones on your list, then follow the menu for Google to place a LD call for you. You only get charged for the local call.

First set of reloads won't keep slide open
analog_kidd replied to analog_kidd's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Everyone, Thanks for the tips. I think I'll go ahead and load some up to the next setting and give them a try. I think a good scale will definitely be on my short list of things to buy. The one that came with the kit does not seem to be very good. I have difficulty even zeroing the thing out. -
First set of reloads won't keep slide open
analog_kidd replied to analog_kidd's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I am using Alliant Unique powder. The bullets are 115 grain 9mm hollowpoints that are supposed to be similar in weight and shape to Speer Gold Dot. I think the magazine is fine, it works perfectly for storebought ammo. I wish I had thought to keep a few of the spent cases to look for the signs you mentioned. Unfortunately, I just tossed them into my brass bag with all the others. DUH! -
Hey all, I just pressed my first set of bullets. I took them to the range today and they shot quite well. The only thing is that when I shot the last bullet, my slide does not stay open. I suspect that there may not be enough powder, as I loaded the minimum. Does that sound right? I have a Lee Turret Press, and the automatic powder measure device I'm using is set to the .61 mark, which comes out to about 5.6 grains. The next setting on the powder measure is .66, which comes out to 6.0 grains, which is approaching the max capacity of 6.2 grains. First off, do you think it is safe to move up to the next measure? Second, if I wanted to charge somewhere in the middle, can I do it with this Automatic Measure? I can see that reloading could possibly be a new addiction. I just want to get it right. Thanks for your help.

I had a '72 Ford Pinto, complete with the infamous exploding gas tank that would go boom if hit from the rear. Never had that problem with mine, thank goodness. My dad bought it for me for $400, and he thought it would keep me out of trouble by keeping me in the garage. Funny thing is that car ran great. Had an oil leak somewhere, but I always had a couple of quarts of oil in the trunk, and I'd just top it off when I filled up for gas and kept on driving. One funny thing about the car, it had and AM/FM radio and an 8-track tape player, but they were'nt on the same system. It had seperate speakers for the radio and the tape. Don't know why the previous owner did that, but I changed it not long after I got it. Had a lot of great times in that car. Probably did a lot of things I shouldn't have in it.

I didn't realize this was such a problem that it had to be legislated. Bill would allow fish tanks in TN barber shops Knoxville News Sentinel

I haven't bought Levi's in a long time. I always thought they were overpriced. I can get Lee or Wrangler for under $20, Levi's are usually double that. Now I've got another reason to dislike them.

Need loading data for Rainier Hollowpoints

Perfect! That's just what I needed. Thanks. Thanks, that pretty much confirms Glockster157's link.
