I just got a new tumbler, my first one, and ran a batch of brass through it. I thought that it would be a good idea to deprime the brass first, so that it would get a thorough cleaning. However, I just spent an hour and a half last night removing media from the primer hole of about 200 cases. Every single piece of brass had media jammed in there. Had to use a small finish nail to poke it out of each case.

Can I bring an ex-felon to the gun range?
analog_kidd replied to analog_kidd's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I knew the "EX-Felon" thing would draw some comments as soon as I hit the post button. I know a felon is always a felon, it just makes me feel better about my friend. Anyway, I think I'll get more details from them. I'm almost certain they have told me they voted before, so that means they probably have a misdemeanor. They did do a stint in jail, but that doesn't automatically mean felony. Thanks for all the comments. If it turns out they are a felon, I'll graciously back out of my offer. -
Had a friend who knew I was into guns ask me about them a few weeks ago. They are concerned about crime in their neighborhood. They said they had never fired a gun before, and I offered to take them to the range. Then the topic changed to getting an HCP and I explained all the details. I kiddingly said you can't have had any felonies, and they told me they did, which surprised me. Did not ask what the felony was for, I don't think it matters. I will ask next time I see them, just to make sure it really is a felony and not a misdemeanor. So, my question is, are they legally allowed to even fire a gun at the range? All the guns and ammo would be mine, they would just be using them under my supervision.

What show would you like to see brought back to TV?

The biggest issue you face is behavior modification. Don't take that the wrong way, I went through it too. A long time ago I took out a loan on my 401k to pay off credit cards. As soon the CC company got the check, we ran up the cards again. Then we had two debts. You got to stop charging stuff right now. Vow to never use the card again. The Dave Ramsey stuff rocks. It's easy to do if you stick with it. Find someone who's been thru it to show you how to make a real budget. Save cash and use it to pay for everything. Get envelopes and put a set amount in them for certian things and only spend from those envelopes. If you say I need $100 a month to eat out, put $100 in an envelope every month. When you go to eat out, grab the envelope, if its empty, stay home. Never borrow from the grocery envelope to eat out. Pre-define what your monthly needs are adn stick to it. We've been doing this for years now. It was hard to make the change (paying cash for gas sucks big time), but you get used to it after a while. We got really focused at the begining and paid off all the credit cards and my truck. Took a little over a year, but we are debt free, and it feels great. I would not take out a consolodation loan. I would transfer the balances around every now and then to low rate cards. Or even call up your card company and just ask for a lower rate. You'd be surprised if you tell them you are moving the balance, a lot of times they will work with you. Don't transfer too often as that may damage your credit rating. Good luck

Yeah, you know, I actually saw something like that a while back, which is what made me think about building something myself. The more I think about it, it was a stupid idea for camping. Nothing but a recipie for a bad outcome. I like the buzzer thing better too.

After about an hour on the site tonight, it feels natural and normal. Looks really good. I did notice that if I click "New Posts" at the top of the page, it shows me new posts, but it always says "Page 1 of 5" when I really have way more than 5 unread pages of posts. Also, I am colorblind, and the colors of the icons that represent a forum that has unread posts or no unread posts, looks very similar to me. I can see a difference, but I have to look hard and concentrate. No biggie, just thought I'd mention it. Could just be my monitor too. Excellent job, though!

I've been thinking about devising some kind of thing that holds a shotgun shell (with the shot removed) has a firing pin and a trip wire placed across the trail, just to warn about yahoos like this. I back country camp a lot, and am a pretty sound sleeper. I'm not worried about critters messing with me, but I do about crazies. I'm just not sure about the legalities of a blank shot shell going off in a place like a National Forest.

I keep saying it, Church and Guns are protected by the First and Second Ammendments of our Constitution. Give up one freedom, and next you'll be giving up the other. If you love the right to go to Church, then you better love the right to carry a gun there too. I carry every weekend to church, and the pastors know I do too. We have uniformed officers that patrol and assist with traffic (big church) and they have seen me carrying. They just wink and smile.

Democrat Congressman assualts student.
analog_kidd replied to K191145's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The congressman kept saying he had a "Right" to know who the students were. Not sure where that particular right comes from, but I'm not aware of it. However, who these two young men obviously were, was American citizens, for who this congressman swore to represent, and defend the Constitution for. In my mind he broke that oath and should step down. -
A guy at work just came back from the FL panhandle area and said there was no oil anywhere. Also said that the place was like a ghost town, because everyone was assuming there was oil. My advice is to call around down there and verify. You may find you get a nicer, quieter vacation. You also may be able to negotiate prices a little better, as they are all desperate. Plus you may just help them out.

I have the Ruger Mark III, and it is a beast to disassemble. There are a few very helpful websites that will walk you through every step. If you can follow the directions, you'll have no problems. I'd recommend getting the .22 first, and before your class if possible. The State does not care which gun or what caliber you qualify with on the test. Having a .22 to take the test over your .38 is going to be a slam dunk. You'll easily score close to if not exactly 100%. My Ruger is very accurate. One of my favorite thigs to do at the range is chase a golf ball with it. I can easily hit it out to 30 yards with this pistol.

I have the Aegis Tanto, and I love it. It felt a bit too big at first, but I have gotten used to it. It clips well in my pocket, but is easy to remove. I kept losing my old knife because the clip kept getting caught on stuff and pulling it out of my pocket. I also have the Seal Pup, but I have never used it. It sits in my BOB in my truck. It sure is pretty though.

Next time you take your rent down, have a printed letter saying the dishwasher is broken, and the landlord acknowledges that you have informed him by signing the letter. This should keep you out of trouble at the end of your lease if they say you broke it. It also puts the LL on notice that you have something in writing in case it comes to a legal resolution.

My belief is that all church-going people should embrase carrying. In our constitution, the only thing more important than being able to own and carry a firearm, was the right to free speech and free religion. If you allow the second ammendment to be eroded, what's to stop the first ammendment from going away too?

Think about these Hollywodd stars: They earn their money my making us believe things that are not true. Basicly, they are professional liars. And they get us to pay them to do it!

Tennessee Senate Overrides Restaurant Carry Veto
analog_kidd replied to FlyboyLDB's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, that's even more reason the tactic will be ineffective. The lawyer has his own agenda. Getting lots of people to call / harass him is not going to change his mind. So, he got a few people together, probably paid them or gave them some kind of perk, and they agreed to put their name on some piece of paper. They either truely believe this anti crap, or they prostituted their beliefs for a bag of silver. Either way, they don't represent the rest of the hardworking folks across this state. You offer up something shiney, you can find someone to take it. Again, I say we need to bring the fight to these people, not the folks who had nothing to do with it, and have zero power to change it. -

The lawyer works for his PAYING client. Other than getting even more pissed off and doubling his efforts, he won't give a flip if 10,000 servers call his office to complain, they aren't paying him. In my mind, stiffing the server just added one more person to the anti column. If you want to do something constructive, you have to fight fire with fire. Get involved, raise money, hire your own lawyer, pay for an ad campaign. This is the lengths the enemy has done. We got to meet them on their turf. Make an ally of your server. Tip them good, and attach a pamphlet to it. They work for the person who ows the place. Word will get back to the boss, and we may have another ally. Not tipping is the lazy way out. By doing that we really haven't DONE anything. -
Just had to renew my drivers license for the first time in I don't know how long. The bill said $37, and I thought OK, not so bad. I went online to pay it and they itemized the bill: $2 (processing fee) $17.50 (drivers license) and another $17.50 for my motorcycle endorsement. Just exactly why do I have to pay double for the privilege of driving a motorcycle? They should be giving me a discount on the fact that a motorcycle is very fuel efficient and is "green". I can see adding a few dollars to cover the cost of extra processing, or the one-time ever test you have to take, but double? It's like I had to get two seperate licenses. I keep full coverage on the bike and against other drivers if I have an accident. I also have excellent healthcare insurance. So, it's not like the state is going to get stuck with any bill I may owe. It's not about the money. Like I said, I thought $37 was OK, untill I found out what every one else pays. OK, I feel better now.
