I don't think having the gun IN the car while parked at a public park is illegal, you just can't carry it in the park. Isn't there some provision that you can go to and from a park with a firearm, as if picking someone up?

I had this exact problem on my dishwasher. Kept thinking it was the seal that went around the edge of the door. There was a clear plastic strip about 1.5" wide and as long as the door is wide, and about 1/32" thick that had fallen out. I thought I had it figured out where it went, but it kept falling out of place. I went and ordered a new one and had the same problem. Finally, I dook the door apart from the inside of the washer. There were several large headed screws to unscrew. I did it easily by myself, but an extra hand would have been nice. Once the inside panel was off, It was very clear where the strip went, and I was definitely doing it wrong initially. Put the strip in properly, screwed everything back together and it works perfectly. Not sure what your model is, but mine is a Fridgedaire Ultraquiet II.

Sad part is that the person they spoke to for support, probably lives in India.

Obama campained saying he knew what our problems were, and he was the man to fix them. If he just goes on blaming Bush, then he is saying either he was ignorant of what the issues really were and we shouldn't have voted him in, or he is not up for the job today, and should just step aside.

Yes, my example requires adding extra to this account, otherwise it would take around 35 years (in a really good market) for $500 to become $10k. I just gave the example of the cruise to make a point. Since I'm just full of free financial advice today, and db99w brought up the topic of adding to the IRA, I'll throw this out there. You should be taking advantage of your employers 401k match to the fullest extent possible, but stop there. The rest that you want to invest goes into the IRA. Your company is offering you free money, take every last cent of it. But in reality, what you put in to meet their match is not enough. You should be adding a lot more. Everything above the match goes to the IRA for the same reasons I stated above for transfering into the IRA. Take the company match because they are giving it away, but above that you want to be in control of the money, not have it locked up in your company 401k. If you can swing the match, plus max out the IRA ( I think $3500 a year / person) then go back to the 401k and put whatever you can into it.

There is some paperwork that needs to be done, but essentially, yes you would be taxed. You can pretty much figure paying 20% -25% of it in tax. Your broker can help with that too. You can either pay for it out of pocket (recommended) or take it out of the $700, and then investing the $550 or so. One cool thing about a ROTH, if you have one when you retire, a lot of people want to take a retirement trip, cruise, whatever. If you have a ROTH, you can dip into that to fund it. Let's say a cruise costs $10,000 for you and your wife. If you had only a 401k you'd take $10,000 out, plus whatever you need to live on for the year. You effectively increased your taxable earnings by the $10k, just to go on the cruise. With the ROTH, there is no extra tax burden. And there is some stupid rule that a ROTH has to be in place for a number of years (like 5-ish) before you can touch it. So start one now, let it grow and you'll be in good shape. The younger you are, the more you should be considering a ROTH. It is an awsome investment vehicle. BTW, I'm not a broker myself or some financial big shot. But I did take and teach the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace course at my church for several years. It's good, sound, simple advise that anyone can / SHOULD know. Also, just for clarity, you would not be taxed for opening and transfering into a standard IRA, just a ROTH IRA. Hope that helped.

Did'nt read the part about bein less than $700. With that in mind, I'd consider opening a ROTH IRA. You have to convert it from tax-diverted by actually paying tax on the amount right now, but when you retire and start drawing from it, it is totally tax free, including whatever intrest you gained. The deal with converting it is this: you funded this 401k by pulling money out of your paycheck before they calculated your tax. So basically, you've never paid tax on this money. In a ROTH, you fund it with money that has already been taxed, but as it grows, you never have to pay any more tax -ever. So, the Gov't wants their tax money, which is why you have to convert it.

DO NOT ROLL IT INTO YOUR CURRENT 401k!!! Go find an investment broker like Edward Jones and open up an IRA. If you roll it into your 401k you are locked into whatever options your company selects for you. For most employees this is 10-20 different options. On the open market in an IRA there are litterally 10's of thousands of choices. Also, when you roll it into your 401k that money is stuck there till you leave the company. If you are unhappy with the 401k performance, too bad. If you are unhappy with your IRA, move it to a different fund, or fire your broker and move it to another one. There are fees involved with the IRA, but they are minimal, and you have fees inside the 401k too, they are just hidden better. Plus a broker will handle all of the transaction for you. Basically you bring them an old statement and provide a signature on a form adn they handle the rest. It will be very easy. The hardest thing you'll hav eto do is pick out a broker from the phone book.

You can also send a text similar to this: W 37830 and it will send you the weather report for the zipcode (37830). Or send M 37830 to get a list of movie times As for getting business info, texting Firehouse Subs Oak Ridge TN or Subway 37830 should work just fine. Text the word Help and you'll get back lots of tips Another fun fact, when using Goog411, as they are getting ready to place the call for you, say "SMS" and you'll also get a text with the business info.

I want to buy a new camera and need some help.
analog_kidd replied to Jasongar8's topic in General Chat
Personally, I'd narrow it down to Canon or Nikon. I like Canon myself, always owned something from them since I was a teenager. Either brand is great tho. The good thing is there are tons of lenses available for them, and you can buy them used. Like BK said, the lens is really what makes the camera. You might even consider a used camera. You might be able to step up to a better camera and still meet your budget. I've got an 8MP Canon DSLR that takes great pics. I rarely print any out, and they look fine on my monitor. I do want to upgrade to the latest Rebel they just released, the T2i. Has gotten rave reviews, and is making me lustful. It may be just over your budget at $900, but look for rebates to bring it down a bit. Also, it's predecessor the T1i was released only about a year ago, and really the main difference was an increase from 15 to 18MP. I think you might find some outstanding deals on that camera since it's no longer the newest. Both come with an 18-55mm Image Stabilized lens, which is very desireable. One thing that firearms and photography have in common, there is never a shortage of something you want to buy next. Good luck in your search. -
The other odd thing I noticed, is there is no traffic on the streets.

Keep an extra $20 or $50 in your wallet. If someone spots you, drop the bill on the table to pay for the meal and get out. I think someone else on here said if you make it to the parking lot before the cops show up, they have no proof.

I noticed the surplus of ammo there today too. Still no.380, but that didn't surprise me. I did ask about the Blazer Brass 9mm 50ct, and the clerk said they have been replaced with Federal 50ct boxes, still for $9.97. Also noticed the price of .22 went way up. Think it was just under $19 for the 550ct box. seems they were just $15 not too long ago.

EXTREMELY disappointing encounter with someone with a badge

Might have been funny if the "Cop" came out after dinner and found that someone had let the air out of his tires. Just sayin it would be funny, I would never encourage that kind of behavior. -
People who use the word "Literally" in a sentance to describe something not literal. For example, "I literally walked a million miles at the mall today"

Several years ago, I had my two then teenage boys in the car on the way to a lake when a rabbit ran in front of the car. I hit the brakes and swerved, but unfortunately still hit the little guy. My kids were slightly shocked to realize I hit him. I looked in the rearview and saw him flopping around on the pavement, obviously in distress and going to die. I had to think fast on what to do, so I put the car in reverse and ran him over again. This time it finished him off. Of course the kids were stunned at what I did, and still tease me about being a rabbit killer.

Yanno, I've been saying this all along. They keep saying guns and alcohol don't mix. They also say that about driving and alcohol, operating machinery and alcohol, going to work and alcohol, dating and alcohol, teens and alcohol. Seems to me the problem is with alcohol, not the other half of each equation. Make it legal to sell only from a package store, where you have to take it home to drink.

The yappy dog next door that barks at me non-stop EVERY time I go into my own back yard. People who think a conversation means they talk and you listen. Or always have a bigger better story than the one you just told. Posts with titles like "Big vote in Senate tomorrow" Becomes totally misleading, irrelevant and frustrating when someone posts to it three months later.

Just reboot. A goot reboot will fix anything, at least that's what I tell my users.
