Arrgh! The video on CastTV is out of synch with the audio. Anybody know of an alternate location to watch it?

I have trouble with Sunday Night Football's sound. I use a reciever to decode the Dolby Digital sound and all I can hear is the fans yelling. The commentators are barely audible. I have to fiddle with the sound settings and select something that disables Dolby, and use something like Pro-Logic instead. Other shows and channels are usually fine.

Coming soon, more federal domestic surveillance...
analog_kidd replied to Raoul's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As soon as it gets enacted, an open source option will appear that will not be under control of the Feds. Bad guys will just use that option, leaving us law abiding citizens the ones who will be spied on. -
I've also noticed that it seems like one week is guns a blazin' action, and the next week is more subdued story line development. I like the action weeks better.

Handgun given as gift across state lines?
analog_kidd replied to Patton's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm not suggesting anyone break the law, but out of curiosity, how does the gov't know if a gun has gone across a state line? I thought the records of who purchases a gun are not supposed to be kept. Is there a database somewhere that says a particular gun is tied to a particular state. What if I moved to another state, I could take my guns with me without an FFL, then sell to whoever I want, right? It all seems silly to me. -
+1 I always told my kids "nothing goods happens when you're out past midnight". This is doubly true if you're in a bar.

I have been a camper all my life, and have owned several different tents, ranging from very expensive to inexpensive. For a family tent, right now we are using a Coleman tent from either Dick's or Walmart. At first I was hesitant about getting it as I really do appreciate higher quality stuff, but the price was right on this particular tent. I'll say that I have been pleasantly surprised by the way it has held up and would buy another one. If you are only going once or twice a year, don't spend a lot of money on one. Something like the one above will work fine for you. One recommendation I would give you is to buy one that is a little bigger than the number of people you want to shelter. In other words, if there are two of you camping, get at least a 4-man tent, or if there are four of you get a 6-man. The number of people that a tent says it can sleep are crammed in like sardines. Get a little extra space to put some stuff while you are sleeping in it. The tent we own is a 6-man tent, and is just right for me and my wife. It's got enough room for one of those blow up mattresses, and I can bring in a camp chair if it starts raining and I want to read in the tent. Have fun!

One thing I like to do, is download the free AutoRuns utility from Microsoft. It's a small utility that when run, shows all applications that start up automatically when your computer starts. You would be surprised how much junk gets started every time you reboot your computer. The cool thing about this program is it shows everything with a checkbox next to it. Just uncheck whatever you are not sure about, then later if you discover something that you actually needed, just go back and re-enable it. You should be able to Google AutoRuns and find it on the Microsoft site.

Sanded the hardwood floors of two bedrooms and a living room, then applied a coat of polyurethane. Then went and painted a bathroom. Then fixed (hopefully) the leak on my roof. Put a bunch of trash in my truck and took it to the dump, only to find it had closed. Guess it's gonna sit in my truck till tomorrow.

7.62x39 on stripper clips at Aim

Noticed that the link didn't state if the Yugo stuff was corrosive or not. I'm assuming that it is??? -
A guy at work says that CoorsTek in Oak Ridge sells surplus 50 gallon plastic and metal drums for $5 each. I have not personally verified that, but he did have one in the back of his truck.

Not a recipe per se, but we have a little device called a BakePacker. It's made out of aluminum, it's round and about an inch and a hafl thick and has a grid in the middle. The thing fits perfectly down into a pot. What you do is, put it in the pot, then fill it with water almost to the top of the grid. Then take anything that you would normally have to bake like cornbread, or a cobbler, mix it up and put it in a clear plastic oven bag. Work the bag and dough on top of the grid so that it is evenly spread out, adn then boil the water with a lid on the pot. Somehow it bakes the dough. I've had the BakePacker for years, and my folks have had theirs for twice as long. Can't even beging to say how many yummie things we've made. For instance, take a cake mix, baKe it up and pour pie topping on it. Best part is there is no clean up. You cook it in the bag.

Me too. I still find myself clicking it all the time.

The sign at Lincoln's is way up high on the glass to the left of the door on the wall perpendicular to the door (and the street). It is very difficult to notice, and not very conspicuously placed. I think they would have a hard time enforcing it.

Haslam Ad with Wife Behind Him
analog_kidd replied to eapking's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm sure it's the coverage in my area, and my limited viewing of ads (mostly everything I watch is on DVR and I fast forward thru comercials), but I only see Haslam's ads on TV, never his opponents. But, every Haslam ad I see has him crying about being a victim of mud slinging attacks. I never see him talking about issues. From my perspective, I don't see his point. -
Doesn't bother me a bit. I know that the law, as written, allowed for the old signs to remain so that the law would be revenue neutral. In other words, the bill had no chance of passing if it was going to cost the state any money at all. So, making this one consession helped the bill to pass. I know it's legal now, so I just carry past the sign. Plus there is the slight chance that a bad-guy may see the sign and think twice about coming into the park.

I've watched three shows now, and every one it has been an issue that Cody refuses to wear shoes. Seems a bit silly and hardheaded to me. Otherwise, I am enjoying them. It's good to see some of their ingenuity on how they use stuff at hand. The other thing that surprises me is that they show when they kill something for food. Not like some shows, where they show the cute little bunny hoping across the grass, then the next shot is some ambiguous meat cooking on a spit. I laughed out loud when Dave beat the heck out of the porcupine with a club.

I just got a new tumbler, my first one, and ran a batch of brass through it. I thought that it would be a good idea to deprime the brass first, so that it would get a thorough cleaning. However, I just spent an hour and a half last night removing media from the primer hole of about 200 cases. Every single piece of brass had media jammed in there. Had to use a small finish nail to poke it out of each case.

Can I bring an ex-felon to the gun range?
analog_kidd replied to analog_kidd's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I knew the "EX-Felon" thing would draw some comments as soon as I hit the post button. I know a felon is always a felon, it just makes me feel better about my friend. Anyway, I think I'll get more details from them. I'm almost certain they have told me they voted before, so that means they probably have a misdemeanor. They did do a stint in jail, but that doesn't automatically mean felony. Thanks for all the comments. If it turns out they are a felon, I'll graciously back out of my offer. -
Had a friend who knew I was into guns ask me about them a few weeks ago. They are concerned about crime in their neighborhood. They said they had never fired a gun before, and I offered to take them to the range. Then the topic changed to getting an HCP and I explained all the details. I kiddingly said you can't have had any felonies, and they told me they did, which surprised me. Did not ask what the felony was for, I don't think it matters. I will ask next time I see them, just to make sure it really is a felony and not a misdemeanor. So, my question is, are they legally allowed to even fire a gun at the range? All the guns and ammo would be mine, they would just be using them under my supervision.

What show would you like to see brought back to TV?
analog_kidd replied to Raoul's topic in General Chat
Twin Peaks The Unit Monk Sons of Anarchy (I know its just off season, but dammit I want them to bring it back right now!) -
The biggest issue you face is behavior modification. Don't take that the wrong way, I went through it too. A long time ago I took out a loan on my 401k to pay off credit cards. As soon the CC company got the check, we ran up the cards again. Then we had two debts. You got to stop charging stuff right now. Vow to never use the card again. The Dave Ramsey stuff rocks. It's easy to do if you stick with it. Find someone who's been thru it to show you how to make a real budget. Save cash and use it to pay for everything. Get envelopes and put a set amount in them for certian things and only spend from those envelopes. If you say I need $100 a month to eat out, put $100 in an envelope every month. When you go to eat out, grab the envelope, if its empty, stay home. Never borrow from the grocery envelope to eat out. Pre-define what your monthly needs are adn stick to it. We've been doing this for years now. It was hard to make the change (paying cash for gas sucks big time), but you get used to it after a while. We got really focused at the begining and paid off all the credit cards and my truck. Took a little over a year, but we are debt free, and it feels great. I would not take out a consolodation loan. I would transfer the balances around every now and then to low rate cards. Or even call up your card company and just ask for a lower rate. You'd be surprised if you tell them you are moving the balance, a lot of times they will work with you. Don't transfer too often as that may damage your credit rating. Good luck

Yeah, you know, I actually saw something like that a while back, which is what made me think about building something myself. The more I think about it, it was a stupid idea for camping. Nothing but a recipie for a bad outcome. I like the buzzer thing better too.
