Great info. Thanks guys!

OK, that's pretty cool. And since I have some kind of weird fettish for flashlights, I'm sure I'll buy one soon. Let us know if you find a place to get them.

Picked up some brass at the range this weekend and found some nickel .38 spl cases. Are these good to go for reloading on a Lee press with carbide dies?

Tennessee Patriot alert on house speaker
analog_kidd replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Are the newly elected members of the House part of the members who vote, or is it the set that has been there all year? Wasn't sure if the freshmen went to Nashville before January. -
Tips I've discovered: Go slow. Have a steady hand. Keep the router level or it will gouge the workpiece. My router works better in one direction than the other, can't remember if it's left to right, or right to left, but try it out on some scrap and see if one way works better for you. I made a mounting bracket and attached it to my tablesaw. I have a router table that was given to me and my router won't fit it. If you come to Oak Ridge some time, I'll pass it on to you.

We had a really old family dog that was suffering and we had to put her down. We take our animals to Jackson Square Animal Clinic here in Oak Ridge, and that is where we brought her when it was time. Not sure if it was because we are longtime customers, but when the deed was done, they walked us past the checkout and out the door. I never got a bill. Might give them a call.

Anybody have a gut feeling how the TN State House will end up after the election this year? There are pundits all over the TV talking about the US House swinging back to the Right, but I have heard no talk about the TN State House. You may remember a short while ago the TN House had a Democrat majority, and if memory serves, had had that majority for quite some time. Seems like it was a strange turn of events that brought the house back to Republican majority, but it worked in out favor. The best thing to come out of the recent swing to the right was the ouster of the former Speaker Neifeh, who is very anti gun. If the House was to swing back again, It's almost certain he would be back in charge, and block any bills we may want to get passed. It's funny that an Anti-gun governor can be overruled, but an Anti-gun Speaker can block a bill before it even gets out of the gate.

Haslam-gun owners should be able to keep weapons cars
analog_kidd replied to Tim Nunan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Apparently, Haslam thinks people should be able to keep their own firearms in their own cars in the parking lot of their jobs... unless it's in the parking lot of a business he owns! Haslam company bans firearms in lots » Knoxville News Sentinel -
I think I just read in one of the many computer trade rags I get that MS just recently released an update to their piracy checking software. It came in the form of one of their monthly automatic updates. This could be why you are seeing the message after later than 6 months.

Functionally, I think the new site software is fine. It does everything I use in the current software, especially if the hover-preview can be added. Not really a big fan of the color scheme, but that's probably because I'm color-blind and have a hard time looking at red / greens / browns. The graphics and colors will evolve into something I'm sure everyone will like. What's important is the content is there. Thanks for a great site, whatever it runs on!

Allow me to get up on my soap box for a moment. Please go vote, but study the issues and candidates. You can almost always find a sample ballot online at the county election commision website or the local paper website. Print it out, figure out which is the best candidate to support, and read and understand teh issue before voting on them. It drives me nuts when I hear people talking and one says "Who you voting for?" and the other says "I don't know, I'll figure it out when I get there." This almost always means they are going to randomly pick someone because they have no clue. Or they are presented with an issue written in leagalese that nobody understands, and just press "For" because if the City wants it, it must be OK. And, it is OK to not vote on something if you don't understand it. Your ballot is not nullified if there are unanswered choices. An unanswered choice may be better than selecting the wrong thing. OK, soapbox dismounted.

Nope, not even close. I love the guitar riffs in this song: YouTube - Cake - Jolene

Did the show ever clarify that he was carrying legal bullets, or did they just allow the misinformation to fester?

I use Peace Frog by The Doors for my standard ringtone, then Crosseyed and Painless by the Talking Heads, and Jolene by Cake for some family members.

If you don't mind coming to Oak Ridge, Austin's TN Firearms is a great place to use as an FFL. I seem to remember that they charge $25 for the service. They are an authorized TGO vendor, and is owned by member Phantom6.

I picked up a bag at Gander Mountain tha tI think i snear perfect. It looks like about the size and shape of the Midway bag. The quality of my bag is outstanding, very rugged, has lots of pockets, and even game with a smaller pistol case. I easily hold several boxes of ammo, two ear muffs, eye protection, some targets, and other assorted smallish items. Best of all I think it was around $30-$35. If you have a Gander Mountain nearby, I'd recommend taking a look.

Question about drawing pistol
analog_kidd replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Phantom's post got me thinking that maybe keep a can of Pepper Spray on hand for him, or even a baseball bat. It would be non-lethal but get your point across that he is not welcome. Of course that just may make him even madder and begin planning a retaliation of who knows what. You'll have to decide if it's worth the risk. My personal $0.02 is that it would be a tough sell to a jury that you were in fear of your life for because he was going to rub fluid on you. -
Don't know of a local place, but I just bought some on ebay. Seems like I got about 100' for about $9. It's not cheap. I cut it in half, and put half in my BOB, and may try braiding with the rest. I did a few knots I found online the other night and discovered it's not as easy as I thought. Getting those knots all neat and snugged up is tough. If there is a local option to Knoxville, I'd love to hear about it too.

Southernasylum, I know what you mean by Blood Sweat and Tears. I bought this house (and another one two years ago) as real fixer-uppers. I found my handyman gene with the first one, and put a lot of effort into both of them. The first one I kept thinking we were going to live in, so I went above and beyond, and made it a top-notch home. The second one, I did way more than I needed to make it a rental, but I kept telling myself I wouldn't rent out a house I wouldn't live in. Anyway, after all the time and effort spent on the houses, I have some seperation anxiety with them. It feels weird not being able to go to the place I just spent so much time at. At least the first house I'm renting to my sister, so it doesn't feel so bad, but this latest one was rough handing over the keys.

Perstare, I have an idea why this guy may have been pushing renting. The way the tax laws are written, if I buy an investment property and sell it within a year, the profits get added to my net earnings for that year and I am taxed on them at whatever rate that puts me in. So, for example if I make $50,000 a year, and buy and sell a house that I make $25,000 profit on, my total personal earnings for the year are $75,000, at which I get taxed at around 25%. If I keep that same house for just over a year, the IRS seperates it out from my personal earnings and taxes me at a set 15% on the house profits. It's very common for someone to buy an investment house, then do a rent to own plan, where you rent for one year then buy the house.

OK, you guys are all scaring me. Yesterday I had my first real tenants move into a house I just bought and fixed up. They seem like decent folks, have good jobs, college grads, but you never know do you? In my lease I have a clause that says something like anything you leave on the property automatically becomes mine to do anything I want with it the day the lease is expired. Don't know how well it would hold up in court, but it's there in writing and signed by the tenant.

I think Opie also played one of the football players in Remember the Titans.

Arrgh! The video on CastTV is out of synch with the audio. Anybody know of an alternate location to watch it?
