If the CD drive is one that is ejectable, remove it and put it back in. On some laptops, there is a slider on the bottom that you can push adn will allow the entire drive to come out. On some cheaper laptops the drive is built in and you would have to open up the whole laptop guts to remove teh drive. Wouldn't recommend that unless you are confident in your ability to get it all back together. sometimes just reseating the device will make it come back to life. Have you tried booting in Safe Mode to see if the drive is still there? You could also try to insert your Windows CD and reboot to see if the PC will try to boot from the CD. If it does, then you know that the drive is OK and it;s a problem inside Windows.

If you have not yet done so, go to the store right now and buy milk and bread!

I used to get a lot of unsolicited postal mail, but I put my name on the national do not send list and now I rarely get stuff. Of course that does not impact businesses that you already do business with, like the NRA if you are a mamber. One thing I do with junk mail is when I get a postage paid return envelope for something, I'll put some other junk mail in it and send it back to them. Of course I make sure nothing has my name or address on it before I send it back. When you snd those envelopes back, the company has to pay for it, but they are just paying for more junk. Makes me laugh every time I do it.

I have a buddy at work that complains he gets a couple of things a week from them. I get maybe one thing every month or two. Not sure why he gets so much and I get so little, I've never requested to get off the mailing list. I also never sent back anything to them other than my initial registration. I've never signed up for all the "benefits" they offer, so maybe that's part of it.

Been listening to a website www.grooveshark.com for music. It's similar to Pandora Radio, but you can select exactly the songs you want to hear, set up playlists. You can even search for and listen to entire albums, in case you want to listen before you buy.

Thanks for that link. I found a You Tube video of it too, and it looks do-able. -
Changing Keltec P3AT Grip
analog_kidd replied to analog_kidd's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Here is the link to the page I found the new grip: Kel-Tec CNC - P-3AT Accessories, P-3AT Parts - P3AT-300 Grip (available in black, gray, and olive) Looks like it is just the plastic part, but it does say that it includes all internal parts. I'm thinking it's probably the mag release they are talking about. I'll look around for the Houge covers. That may be agood option. Thanks for the idea. -
I have a P3at with grey grips. I bought it during the height of the .380 rush and even though I don't really like the grey grips, I bought it anyway because I would have had to wait for who knows how long to find another. I was thinking of trading it in for a Ruger .380, since they only offer it in the black that I really wanted and it has a better finish anyway. But then I got looking around and found out that a new grip can be purchased for around $30. I figured I'll probably come out ahead if I replace the grip instead of trading up. Has anyone here ever replaced the grip on a P3AT? How hard is it? If I have to take it to a Smith, I'll probably be better off with a trade.

His personal cell phone should not be used for work related calls. If it is so important that the boss get in touch with him while out on company business, then the boss should provice a company phone. I'd get the phone wiped, and tell the boss not to call it unless it is an off hours emergency. Or change the number. Get a free Google Voice number and give that out. You can point the Google Voice number to the cell phone so that it rings when someone calls the GV #. But using the GV account options, you can set certain incoming #'s to be blocked, go straight to voice mail, etc.

The guys on TV were complaining of misfeeds and jams too. At one point the GG was setting an ambush, then his gun jammed when he went to fire. Clearing it alerted the BG's to his position.

Was watching a show called Special Ops Mission on the Military Channel. It's a show where they simulate a bunch of bad guys protecting some assets, and a good guy is sent in to infiltrate and destroy an objective. Fairly interesting. Much of it is filmed from a first person view, similar to Survivor Man. Anyway, one of the objectives is to take out the enemy. They were using actual M16's, but loaded them with something they called Simmunition. Basically it is a paintball loaded inside an actual round. Sounded to me like it did not have the same powder load. Anyway, they said the rounds were something new, but only available to military and law enforcement. I was wondering if anyone had seen them in person?

You may think it's silly, but that's because we grew up in completely different generations. You've come of age during a time where it's been OK, or in some cases cool to be gay. When I was in my 20's, there was a pretty big social stigma against homosexuality. AIDS was the number one biggest issue, and it hadn't really crossed over too much into the straight culture. There were very few people who had "come out of the closet", and it was a very big deal when someone famous did it. Nowadays, folks won't even blink when they find out someone's gay.

I do use a progressive press, adn have been for nearly a year now. Been reloading 9mm without a single issue. I just recently got the .38spl dies, along with a set of .380 dies. On the same day, I loaded all three types of rounds from the same press, and the 9mm and .380 rounds fired perfectly . I did at some point add more powder to my hopper, but I can't remember at what point. Could have been in the middle of the .38spl. I suppose that could be where the problem point was. I made a total of 5 rounds of .38, fired two, opened one. I think I'll open the other two just to see how much powderis in there. Then, I'll make another small batch of bullets and measure the powder on a scale, just so I know. I'll be very meticulous at every stage so there is no question. Thanks, everyone, for all your help. It's good to have folks around to bounce ideas off of and get a sanity check once in a while.

Just wait for the first lawsuit to come about from some recruit who takes offence from a drill sargeant who makes a "Two things come from Texas, Steers and Queers" kind of a comment. Then we'll have to make sure a DS never offends anyone again. We'll have to soften up the whole regimen just because of one person. Back when I was a young man, being called "Gay" was a pretty good motivator to me and my circle. One way or another I'd be proving my manhood. Guess times have changed. Not so much of an insult now.

That's my thought too. Not sure if it's my powder, the primer, or did I somehow just not put any powder in the two rounds I fired off. I pulled apart another one that I had made and there was powder in that one, that's where I found it 1/2 grain short. I don't mind trying again after I verify all the parts are in good condition. I'm real nervous about clogging up the barrel again.

Sorry, posted my fail report here: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/ammunition-reloading/50201-made-my-first-big-time-reloading-mistake.html Used a recipe from a couple of manuals. I did trust my Lee disks, but then remeasured and found it to be half a grain off. Short story is I had two rounds that squibbed. I suspect that only the primer fired.

OK, so after my last go around and failure at loading .38spl, I want to test my theory that with the brass only less than 1/2 full of powder that the primer may be flashing over the powder and not igniting it. But, I don't want to get another bullet stuck in the barrel if the powder does not burn. A buddy of mine, who has reloaded for a while, came up with an idea of loading a few rounds of brass with a primer and the powder, then wadding up some paper to act as a plug in place of the bullet. Load it into the gun and see which I get, a pop or a bang. Granted pressure will be less than if a bullet were inserted, but I should be able to determine if the powder is igniting. Has anybody ever tried something like this. Any other suggestions?

Used to have an old truck that developed some rust inside the well below where the widshield is, near the base of the wipers. Eventually it rusted through and when it rained, water would pool up in the floorboard of the passenger side. I'd get an inch of water sometimes. At the time, I didn't have money or skills to repair the leak, and I got tired of always sponging out the floorboard, so I took a drill to the floor and created a drainhole. Problem solved!

Made my first big time reloading mistake

Well, I got curious and pulled the bullet out of one of the rounds I made so I could measure the powder. I found that it had 4.2gr inside the shell, and I was aiming for 4.8gr. I see that the Lee Auto Disk wasn't spot-on perfect, but I can't imagine that half a grain difference would have caused such a squib. I'm convinced that what happened is the powder is not filling the brass enough, and since the shell is less than half full, when the bullet is horizontal the powder does not come up to the primer. I think what is happening is the primer is flashing right over the powder and not igniting it. What pushed my bullet out of the round and into the chamber was just the explosion of the primer. The lack of just about any recoil at all and the very low report also makes me think this is true. I'm thinking Unique is not going to be the right powder for this round. Does anyone else here reload .38spl? If so, what powder do you use and how much? -
I've been thinking about getting a scanner to pick up Oak Ridge PD too. Which model did you end up with and how much did it cost? Do you know what the "feature" was that enabled the new one to work?

Ironicly, the ACLU offices will be closed for Christmas. Maybe they should lead by example and just ignore Christmas all together.

I'm using Alliant Unique, which for 9mm nearly fills the case. What would be a good powder to switch to that would fill the 38spl case? Also, the Unique seems awfully dirty to me. Is there a different powder I should be using? -

Well, the two bullets were stacked up together, and the back of the last bullet was just inside the breech of the barrel. I set my OAL at 1.45".
