Several years ago, the Sears in the Oak Ridge Mall closed down. It wasn't a surprise, as the ORM was a joke and everybody was leaving. They just recently tore the whole thing down and are going to build it back as an open air marketplace kinda thing. Like TGO David says, I guess that's the latest trend. I noticed that a couple of months ago a new Sears Hometown something-something opened up here in Oak Ridge. It's a tiny little store, maybe Dollar General sized. Have not been in it yet, and I really have no reason to. I was wondering what they were all about.

I have been remodeling a room in our basement to be used as a home theater. While I had everything demoed, I decided to run new wiring for lighting, networking and sound. While doing that I started thinking about home automation, specifically for the lighting. I want to be able to control the lighting from my phone, tablet or Amazon Echo. It looks like the Samsung SmartThings hub is getting good reviews these days, and works with a variety of devices. That is what I am leaning toward to get things started. That and a smart dimmer switch attached to the new can lights I installed. Next on the list of smart gadgets to buy would be a door lock and then a thermostat. The idea of arriving home and my phone telling my house to turn on the lights, adjust the temperature and unlocking the front door is cool to me. Plus I like the idea of having a routine that will make sure the door is locked, and all lights turned off at bed time. Does anyone else here have any smart stuff? If so, what are your experiences? What products do you like or not like? What are some of the ways you are using them?

One of my favorite Christmas time tunes is "Baby It's Cold Outside". It's been around for decades, but apparently now its a "forbidden song" and should not be played anymore. The whackadoodles who find something bad with everything are saying that it represents rape, due to the fact that the man is trying to keep the woman inside. You be the judge:

You might be surprised to know there are over 1500 Top Level Domain names. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domains That radio site is pretty cool. My geography is only so-so, I wish they would put borders on the maps. Was trying to find stations from my Polski motherland.

We used to live in the heart of Oak Ridge, where there is absolutely no discharging of weapons allowed. There are many greenways throughout the neighborhoods, and deer are very populated there, especially with no two-legged predators. It's not uncommon to see them grazing in peoples yards while you are driving down the street. The neighbor across the street from us has a greenway for a back yard. One time a coyote took up residence in her side yard. It would just sit there on a stump she had. It would run away if approached, but would return. Everybody was concerned, especially the ones with cats and small dogs. I called TWRA and they said they don't trap animals, and that if I did, it is illegal to transport a live wild animal. I called the city / animal control, and they told me they are only responsible for domestic animals. If I wanted the animal trapped, I would have to hire a trapper. I asked if I could shoot it myself, and she said, "Absolutely not! You can't fire a gun in the city." I said if I trapped it, how was I supposed to dispose of it? I kiddingly said "What, am I supposed to just club it to death?" She told me, "Sir, clubbing a defenseless wild animal in the city limits is... a perfectly acceptable way to get rid of it." Eventually, after a few weeks, the coyote moved along and we never saw it again.

The irony is that the press has given him free passes and complementary spin for the last eight years, and now he is scolding them? The fact is the stories (facts) regarding Clinton were just too big not to report. They want to make the story out to be that Russia hacked us, when the reality is the story is the things they did and said. It just so happened to be that Russia was the messenger. They have yet to apologize for any of the stuff they got busted on, or even accept that those actions could have been the cause of their failure. I'm not happy that Russia was hacking us, but anybody who thinks that they were not doing it all along (or that we are to them for that matter), is a fool. They should have secured their network a long time ago. THIS is on reason to not have private servers in apartment bathrooms. Clinton is claiming that Putin has it out for her and was targeting her to throw the election. I'd proffer that they were likely trying to hack the RNC as well, but the RNC took cyber security a little more seriously. Besides, I would think that the Russians would prefer to have Clinton in office rather than Trump. The Dems have a habit of saying "we caught you, stop doing that, and if you do it again, we'll tell you to stop again." Plus, even I know enough to not say cross things about my boss or management or other employees in emails or texts. Those things always have ways to come back and bite you. I have no expectation of privacy in a corporate email system, or even on Gmail for that matter. Obama knew that Russia had hacked them months ago, but he kept quiet about it. Now that Clinton has lost the election, he starts his laughable chest thumping bit. If its a big deal now, it should have been a big deal when it happened. He was just hoping that the press would help him sweep it under the rug, just like every other time, and not bring too much attention to the story. He clarified his "we'll punish the Russians" statement by also saying "at a time and place of our choosing." That means, "I'll be on a golf course in Hawaii until January 20th. Trump can handle it when he gets in office." In other words he is drawing another meaningless line in the sand.

The "Make me a bullet" scene made me cringe. There is way more to making a bullet than just the shell and projectile. Where did they get the powder, or the primer. Did they get the correct amount of powder? Did they test fire one? And they spent all day there, and she got ONE bullet? If you get set up, make a bunch. I would have thought their time would have been better spent scrounging for ammo and guns. Surely there has to be some houses left with a pickup truck and fishing boat in the driveway that have not been cleared.

Ebow, as I read your posts, I keep thinking, "Here's a guy that needs to find a trade." Plumbers, electricians, welders, mechanics all make a very good living, and most times those jobs aren't difficult to learn. You might have been better served by going to trade school instead of college. A lot of trade schools can be attended in the evening, and for a short while, then you are ready to go. Or, find someone willing to take you under their wing as a helper and learn on the job. It's gotta be as good as, if not better than hucking pizzas, pay-wise.

I think I still prefer the Darker theme. There just isn't enough contrast in the background of the quoted text. To me it's difficult to discern and it blends in with what ever the current poster is saying. I'm colorblind, and it is difficult for me to detect subtle changes. No worries, the Darker theme is just fine. I have noticed that the post numbers within the thread have been missing ever since the last upgrade. It's not a big deal, but it was nice to see them. Sometimes I like to know how many more posts there are to read, or if someone wants to reference a post from earlier, as in "Look at post 123 to see what I said".

With the exception of a few AK's, most of them look like hunting rifles or vintage military rifles, like Mosins or Mausers. Nothing that I would consider a modern fighting rifle. Most of those would have brought in a good price from collectors. Selling all of those guns would probably brought in enough money to feed an entire village for a year or more.

I don't think it would be too difficult to re-up their inventory of weapons. They are, after all living in the South. They just need to made a concerted effort of sweeping some houses. Focus on the ones with trucks and boats in the driveway. The "One Bullet" idea made me think of those one shot guns they used to drop in Germany during WWII. The idea was use it to take down one lone soldier, then take his guns and use them to take down a few more, and hand out their guns. Still, I think at this point, given Ricks mental state, I'd be looking for a way to move on. It's a big country, and Negan only has so far of a reach. If they get caught driving away, just say we are on a scavenging mission to get you some stuff. Why do they feel like they have to stay in this miserable situation?

I've been gather parts to build another AR, and I'm getting close to getting the barrel and stock. My other AR is a carbine, and I'd like this one to be rifle length. I know I need a rifle length gas tube and buffer. My question is about the buffer tube and stock. I really don't care for the A2 standard fixed stock. I actually prefer the adjustable carbine options out there. It also seems like almost everything out there is for a carbine setup. 1. Can a standard milspec buffer tube be used with a rifle buffer, or do I need to look for a buffer in rifle length? 2. Will an adjustable carbine stock fit on a rifle length buffer tube? 3. is there any reason why I should not be considering this direction?

Parking lot law problems where I work

TN now allows you to carry a loaded pistol in the car without a permit. My question is why is your company requiring you to have a permit, if the state doesn't care? -
Rifle Ranges in the K-Town and Maryville area

Gunny's in Maryville has a 25yd indoor range. http://www.thegunny.com/ -
I had some discretionary "gun money" squirreled away anyway, so I didn't break into the family budget. I did want to get JUST a lower receiver, figuring that would be the hardest part to get if the election went toward Hillary. Once I had that, I got nervous and started thinking, I better get that matching Upper and BCG, because those might get scarce too, but that's all I need. Then I noticed a sale on lower parts kits on PSA, and thought that was exactly what I needed for the rifle I had in mind, but I'll stop there for sure. Then my local gun shop had a sale on P-Mags for $10 OTD, and that was just too good to pass up. Now I'm sitting on a rifle that is about 75% complete, and I'm having too much fun to stop. Glad I just wanted to buy only a lower.

I'm surprised that these people have not come up with a good way to poison or infect the Savior's through the food they coerce. I also can't believe the Savior's trust the food they are getting. They must have tasters to sample the food before the rest of the lot eats it. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised that the Kingdom folk feed the pigs infected meat before sending them off to the Saviors. Even if it doesn't make them sick, its a satisfying secret middle finger to the bad guys.

I bought a Spikes Upper and BCG to go with the lower I bought earlier this month. I wanted to have those three parts before the election and prices potentially spike way up. Had a hard time locating these last two. They were plentiful a month ago, but less so now. Go figure. Guess everyone has the same idea as me. -
We early voted last Friday. At the time, we were the only two in the poll. It was a much better setup than our normal polling location. There is always a long line out the door... for the second sign-in station. You have to know that there is no line for the first table where you get your form. You have to walk all the way past each person in the line, get your form and then walk all the way back past each person in line, just to get to the end of the line. I bitch about it every time I go.

I got a Canik TP9SF this week from AIM. I've been reading lots of good reviews on this gun, and for $350, I thought I'd give it a try. I'll probably just make it a permanent fixture in the bedroom, and start carrying my other full size pistol more. -
I guess she does give a $#17 about America.

I just picked up a Spikes Lower. Trying to beat the November rush -
I think the drivers license office has a list of finger print locations they can give you.

A quick bit of Googleing, and I found this page: http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Other-Satellite-Laptop-Models/Satellite-E55-A5114-How-to-remove-rear-cover/m-p/566434#M22173 . Looks like it may void the warranty, but you CAN replace both the hard drive and RAM. Just need to remove 12 screws from the back and carefully pop off the cover. If you are not up for that, I'd either sell it, or try to get Linux installed on it. Linux would probably run better with that little bit of hardware than Windows will.

I had forgotten about Gary Hoey. Stumbled upon him again recently...

His sign is no more offensive than the free speech that allows the (some) Black Lives Matter movement to chant "Pig in a Blanket, Fry 'em like bacon". That free speech is accepted by Liberals because they don't want to offend the "down trodden". His sign is thought provoking, because it is a play on the (s)BLM movement, and it drives home a gun control issue. He tied the first and second amendment together in one nice soundbite.
