  1. We are all safety officers at the range. My personal pet peeve is DO NOT handle a firearm when the line is clear and folks are downrange. I be courteous and correct you the first time. The second time you will wish you hadn't even woke up that morning. That, my friend, is how strong I feel about it.
  2. It is not a matter if if- but when- you fuck up.   You have to ask yourself how much your finger or hand is worth. For me its a no-brainer. There is a sawstop saw in my very near future.   They work. Sometimes too good. I follow a lot of woodcraft forums. The technology is so good sometimes the stop will fire if uncured (wet) wood is cut. When you send the cartridge back to sawstop they can tell what it came into contact with. If it came in contact with your skin you get a free replacement cartridge.   I just can't fathom how people can debate on this saw. Bottom line- get the damn saw. It is a hell of a lot cheaper than a finger or hand.
  3. Keep this in mind next time you go the range....
  4. The ethanol is seriously corroding the INSIDE of gas lines on boats. You can't see the damage on the outside. Fuel filters clog up, engines run like crap. I predict a lot of people with older vehicles will be changing fuel lines.
  5. It looks like everybody is at the SHOT show and they aren't taking orders until January 22.
  6. I am up Hixson Pike in Lakesite and could help you set up but I am a short-timer here and hope to be moving soon. If you are close i can come help explain a few things. Reloading is a lot about feel.
  7. Too bad they don't have Jet's Pizza down here in Chattanooga.
  8. Having been aquanted with one or two TVA employees the idiotic descions they make do not surprise me.
  9. 20% loss after smelting? That sounds about right. How long did it take you to melt everything down?
  10. I much prefer MiHec's HP molds than NOE's.
  11. Bones is 16 pounds and loves to sit and sleep on me. Diesel is more independent and loves to play.
  12. A lot of people try to say it is a necked down .40 case but it isn't. It is a SHORTENED 10mm case necked down to .40. It always aggravates the crap out of me when people say it is a shortened .40 case. IT IS NOT!
  13. The one on the left is Bones. I trapped him as a tiny kitten using tuna for bait 13 1/2 years ago. He was skin and bones so the name stuck. The one on the right is Sinatra. She loves her Uncle Bones. She showed up at the front door 3 years ago. She was full of personality and had blue eyes so I names her after 'Ol Blue Eyes. This is Diesel. She is about a year and half old. Somewhat of a contortionist when she sleeps. She purrs loudly all night long- sorta sounding like a diesel. I have a serious soft spot for Torties.
  14. You need to push that range out to 25 yards and use a GOOD solid rest to test loads. In my opinion shooting for group is like peeing in the dark- you may or may not have good luck. At 10 yards I don't get very excited about accuracy or lack thereof. I worry more about function.
  15. I also have a recent .405 takedown that I have shot and a virgin .30/06.
  16. This is mine. I found it last spring at a show in Hotlanta. In 30 years of going to gunshows this is the first one I have ever seen. The guy behind me just before I bought it was all over himself wanting to buy it. Interestingly, I had probably 10 older gentlemen stop me and want to look at it before I left the show. No young guys wanted to look at it. Somebody on Castbullets told me it is 1914 vintage...
  17. I tend to recommend the gel over just stright up aerosol. If you happen to be in a confined area such as a car or room you might get a dose of your own medicine with an aerosol. With a gel, the first reaction when being sprayed in the face is to reach up and rub. The bad guy will just rub it in even more.
  18. The .357 Sig is a bad ass round in any gun.
  19. I have had very poor luck using online resume services. What they send always seems to be just a pre-manufactured BS resume of something close to my occupation. I even sent it back a few times for revision. It was a complete waste of money. Your best bet it going to be buy a good resume program and actually get off your duff and make you a good resume. It isn't hard to do. You will have your resume complete in just a few hours versus a few weeks in the case of an online resume writer.
  20. Did this happen in Knoxville?
  21. 50 rounds is good for about 5 minutes when you cast and load your own. I usually take at least 200 rounds per gun. On at least one occasion I have taken close to 1K rounds and left with as many empty cases. Over the past 3 days I have cast 10K .45 bullets- Nearly 300 lbs of alloy. That should last a while
  22. I have loaded a bunch of 410's on a MEC. They are just a pain in a butt. You have to use real small shot. they use 209 primers. It has been a while since I loaded some but it seems like the hulls wanted to get stuck on the stem when seating the wads.
  23. Great pistol. I have crimson trace grips on mine.
  24. mountainmolds.com. He does good work.
  25. When setting your measure for small charges you will pull your hair out trying to get every charge exactly the change. Do yourself a favor and set your powder measure based on the average of 10 throws. 10 throws should be, in your case, 640 grains. If you get anywhere between 639 grains or 641 grains, set the measure and go. Less stress. More loading and shooting. You will not notice the difference in a load being off by 0.1 or 0.2 grains. If you are concerned you will have problems with that degree of charge variation then you don't need to be shooting that load (or reloading) anyway.
