  1. for a couple hundred bucks you aren't going to get any sort of handheld NV that is worth it. I would actually look into an outdoor security cam with "Night Vision" that you could monitor on a phone. I have a Wyze outdoor cam and it does pretty good at night in the woods, only caveat would be is that the camera needs WiFi so that's a must have
  2. Ive got two of the Jackery Explorer 240s each with a 60w panel. Something in between the 240 and 1400 would be pretty nice to have
  3. have a few smaller jackery systems to run basic lights/charging/etc. while away from power. They have been good to use and fairly quick to charge with a couple solar panels. Also got a larger 1400W EcoFlow unit that can power a full size fridge/freezer in the event of a power outage. So far have been happy with both. The smaller units are probably shoe box size while the larger one is 2-3x the size and nearly 30lbs.
  4. We are in the same boat and just got one perhaps a month ago. So far done all sorts of veggies in there but the fan favorite so far has been simple panko coated chicken fingers. Simple egg, flour, panko breading makes a great host for whatever sauce you're going to use. I have heard salmon is great in there so that is on my list to do
  5. Not going to lie I would spend the $100 from the night sight budget (plus a little more) on a decent red dot. Shooting with irons at night is going to be tough, even tougher at 100-150 yards. In order to get positive ID out that far you're going to need a good white light so you're already in $150-ish minimum there (Streamlight HLX). I tend to lean toward if you can't see your sights how can you see your target? If it is just for quicker sight acquisition I think a dab of paint would get you the same result.
  6. would love a 457 in 22 WMR. Have one in 22LR that I dropped into an MDT chassis and that thing is a blast to shoot.
  7. I picked up some sorel caribou boots from sierra trading post a while back on sale and this past week they have been great out in the snow and cold. Wear a single pair of merino socks and have been good to go. I got mine for sale during the summer, right now is probably not a great time to find a deal on winter boots. Always the option to get some surplus military mickey mouse boots. They run $60-$150 depending on the vendor and the size.
  8. I have found the best strategy is simply forget about them. When you get the call it's like a surprise christmas.
  9. I think I've got a few laying around, PM me some trade ideas. Open to anything (AR bits, glock/p365 stuff, ammo, knives, whatever) could also add $ on my end.
  10. Agree with John on the lower. Unless you are getting ambi controls there isn't a lot of difference between the parts. I like the Aero M4E1 series as they have some upgrades that make assembly a bit easier with the addition of set screws rather than roll pins. Most impactful piece you will notice on the lower is the controls and the trigger, I would go cheap on the lower with an anderson or PSA Mil-Spec and spend the money on a nice radian safety and larue MBT trigger.
  11. those oceanevas are pretty affordable as well. Looking hard at the titanium options
  12. I've got a samson evolution 11" rail, been sitting in my parts pile for a while that I don't see myself ever using. $30 and I'll ship it to you.
  13. Bondhus makes the best allen/hex keys I have used by far. Used them daily in a maintenance/engineering setting years ago and still use them pretty often now at home. The ball end makes it a lot easier to drive in tight/angled spaces.
  14. what about a CZ 457 youth model? I got one for the kids that I eventually ended up putting an MDT chassis on and it is pretty lightweight and compact while also being a real tack driver.
  15. nice, 6 months would be a record for me!
  16. don't be giving up all the hints!
  17. Others have answered the other questions and I would agree with the consensus here. One option for a test would be to get one of the optics plates that replace your rear sight. If you don't like the dot you can sell the whole setup and return to your current condition with no permanent modifications. I wouldn't use this for a carry option but for something just to test it out would be OK. It does take a bit of time/training to get used to but worth it in the long run. Another piece to consider is dots seemed to have helped me out with being cross eye dominant as I was always straining with irons.
  18. I've got a GAMO Wildcat Whisper that shoots pretty good, has taken many a squirrel and chipmunk in the backyard.
  19. SOLD. Thanks all.
  20. Sorry not a 43 fan
  21. **SOLD** Purchased this guy a while back and put maybe 50 rounds through it before putting it in the safe. Comes with two 7rd mags. $250 Would also potentially trade for 9mm/5.56 ammo or partial trade toward a ruger 10/22 takedown
