And there in lies the eventual demise of all of our so called rights and freedoms. Something must change but I am really afraid the only way that will happen is for things to get worse. Much worse.

I am a member, donate $20-$50 on a regular basis. But damn, do they have to send me donation request 2 times a week???? I was half tempted to write on the last one "Take me off your mailing list, use the money you'd save on printing, postage & handling as my donation. Email me next time you want money but please spread the request at least a month apart" But then I remembered they are on my side... Back to Heller-

I would want a Glock .380, but only if it was Walther PPK sized......
-
I'm with you there. It's like they realized a need for the slim concept, but stopped short of offering it in other, arguably more popular calibers.
-
I'd buy a Glock Single Stack 9mm myself.

Regarding why they are un-available to civilians in the US, I got this from http://glockfaq.com : The G25 and G28 are .380 ACP versions of the G19 & G26. Because of their caliber they do not get enough import points for normal importation and are only available to LE and military. Many of the Glock's parts and sometimes the whole gun are dictated or limited by the BATF's system of "import points". To qualify for import a pistol must score 75 points based on the following system: CharacteristicPointsLength: for each 1/4" over 6" 1point Forged steel frame 15points Forged HTS alloy frame 20points Unloaded weight w/mag (per oz.)1point .22 short and .25 auto 0points .22 LR and 7.65mm to .380 auto 3points 9mm parabellum and over 10points Locked breech mechanism 5points Loaded chamber indicator 5points Grip safety 3points Magazine safety 5points Firing pin block or lock 10points External hammer 2points Double action 10points Drift adjustable target sight 5points Click adjustable target sight 10points Target grips 5points Target trigger 2points For example, here is how the G17 scores: Length (7.28") 5points, Weight (24.79oz) 25points, Caliber (9mm) 10points Locked breech 5points, Firing pin block 10points, Double action 10points, Target sight 10points & Target grips 5points=Total of 80 points Changes and features made to Glocks to comply with the BATF rules: - all models are imported with a cheap click-adjustable rear sight that is replaced at the factory with the stock sight - target (grooved) trigger added to compacts & subcompacts - target grips added to all models (required for the subcompacts) - due to their caliber, .380 autos (G25 & G28) do not score enough points to be imported As far as Glock producing them in Smyrna, I didn't think it was truly set up for full scale manufacturing, but I could be wrong.

carry ing a gun and asked to leave hypothetical

I cannot. But remember, many locals run a lot of "out of towner" , "foreigner" , "yankee" or "West Coast wussie" owned establishments... -
carry ing a gun and asked to leave hypothetical
DavidD replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I agree. I'd be willing to bet 99% are neglegence. But I know of at least one instance where that is not the case and suspect there are more. As in my PURELY FICTIONAL story, why would one post only on some entrances and not all? Surely there aren't that many numnuts out there....... -
For the life of me I couldn't understand why ones post count meant anything nor why they'd want to get it up. Now I know.

carry ing a gun and asked to leave hypothetical
DavidD replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Here's something to think about regarding an establishment that may not have proper signage and/or all entrances posted. This is hypothetical and purely speculative and any and all similarities to local establishments as well as to any specific person here on this forum or any where else are purely coincidental. The opinions expressed below do not necessarily reflect those of TGO, it's moderators or any of it's members. Comments are purely opinions of DavidD and the story is purely fictional. Big Corporate has a "no weapons" policy. Corporate is located in a blue state that does not issue handgun carry permits. They have locations all across the country. Their location here in Tennessee is managed by a person who does not have a handgun permit, does not believe he needs one however feels "to each his own" and isn't really against the idea per se. He is fully aware of his companies policies and has posted the companies signs sporadically throughout his establishment so he can not be accused of being entirely negligent in his duties regarding this issue. He is fully aware that his signs do not meet the Tennessee code. This manager has accomplished two things: First, he is at least partially compliant with his corporate policy and is aware that this is one policy that rarely gets checked internally. He has partially portrayed the Companies wishes to the public that No Weapons are allowed. Second, he has left the door open for those who want to skirt the policy by entering at different locations and has effectively given those patrons a defense in the eyes of the law for carrying a weapon on company property. This is called COMPROMISE (back to reality----Hey Voldemort, look this word up---return to fiction) Everything has been running smoothly with no incidents regarding those that Conceal Carry. There have been a "few" incidents in which other patrons have brought to the attention of security that someone was carrying a weapon. In one of those instances, a soccer mom and child were nearly run over by a rude individual with a gun strapped to his side. Yes, you read it right a gun. You know, the kind that kills people. He did not look like a cop, did not act like a cop and she felt like he was a threat to her and her child's safety. Off to the mall office she goes. The Manager says "Yes, ma'am, we have a no weapons policy and said individual will be asked to leave." Security finds the individual, questions him, discovers he has a valid handgun permit. They then inform the individual of the company policy and ask the gun toting patron to leave. Now the manager has followed company policy and directives as well as pacified the soccer mom, yet he has upset the Open Carrying patron. Two out of three aint bad, and he still has his job. Then one day, some real smart guy comes along and says "you aren't properly posted" and "if you don't want us, just say so." Now, the manager has no choice. He must comply. It is not worth his job for he has a family to support. He will now direct his employees to not only properly post signs, but do so at every entrance. Now the smart guy has effectively ruined it for all. What does he care, he is now some how vindicated. He was not smart enough to see the big picture, Not cool headed enough to suck it up and let it go, not responsible enough to use prudence in a situation he knew could cause trouble for himself and simply wanted to buck the system. Essentially looking for a fight. He lost this fight, whether he is really smart enough to know it or not. End of Story. -

Well, since it is a Liquor thread, I'll ask, Anyone else a Scotch lover? I generally drink Dewers 12 year old. I know, it's a blend and most really talk up the single malts but something about their 12 year old I just love. For my 40th birthday last October, Mom (yeah, can you believe it ) bought me a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue. No way I was dropping $230 for a bottle of Scotch just to piss it down the toilet but damn, it was good. I swear I copped a buzz just by smelling it, SMOOOOOOOOOTHE:drool:

Thanks Mods. If more of society could admit mistakes and reverse their decisions and stances once reason sets in we'd be in a far better place.

Isn't that stereotyping, bunching the actions of a few into the masses? Why Len, that's very "UN politically correct" my left leaning friend. However, you are correct in that Republicans generally run on the morals ticket. Hypocrites? Let's look at the word as Webster defines: "1 : a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion 2 : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings " Yes, the only way to be a hypocrite is to say you believe in something but do the opposite. The church, as well as all faiths, are full of those that could be labeled hypocrites. Those same people could also be (and in my mind should be) labeled as sinners. On the other hand, Atheist cannot be labeled hypocrites in the religious sense however could easily be labeled that way based solely Webster's definition in many areas. Let's not even discuss what most politicians on both sides of the isle are..... As for Democrats, they are NOT for less government. They are for fiscal conservatism and balanced budgets, only by re distribution of wealth. They're for NOT keeping government out of the private lives of citizens. The're NOT against illegal immigration, They're NOT against activist judges. They DO NOT take the moral high road. Thus why I tend to vote Republican, I figure my chances are better than 50/50....... As for the Tn GOP Ad, yes Mrs. Obama said it, No denying that. However, it is none the less a cheap shot. Why bring up Obama's wife when he himself gives any intelligent individual enough ammunition for debate on the real issues. I would love to see for once an election where only the issues are debated in detail. Not just general statements like "I'm for Change" or "I'm the most qualified or strongest" but actual details of how one plans on addressing the issues we Americans are interested in.

Has your attitude towards guns changed?
DavidD replied to The Rabbi's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Why yes it has Bill. Now, I've got to decide is it the trusty H&K, the 1911, or my lilttle PPK. Or, if it's cold out and I'm wearing layers, I just might grab one of two Sig's or the great DAO PX4 you helped me out with..... -
Disarmed when stopped by the police?
DavidD replied to Fallguy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Funny Story Phantom. Just a couple of weeks ago I was pulled over by Metro for expired tags during rush hour. When the officer arrived at my door, I had my DL, HCP, Registration and Insurance card out and handed it to him. I told him I was aware my tags had expired and informed him I was taking it for service and that the vehicle was being Sold the next day. The officer was extremely courteous but the strange thing was his comment upon looking at my HCP. He said "I've got one of these too." I did not inquire further but why does he need a HCP? I thought LEO's could always carry whether on duty or not. -
I noticed the same thing! At least he finally removed his finger from the trigger.....
