It always amazes me that these un-educated, isolated and elitist celebrities really think they have all of the answers, or believe that the general public even gives a rats ass what they think

Spent the evening with a bunch of old friends here at our house. Drank, munched, drank, made a big fire in the fire pit outside, drank, shot off $100 worth of fireworks, drank a little more and crashed around 2:30. Had a great time with great company. Then things went down hill, the wife got me modivated New Years day around noon and we took down all of the Christmas Decorations, packed them up and put them away. Good news is I worked off any hangover I may have had. I'm going to Stones River tomorrow with a friend who just got a new AR, makes it all worth while!

Nice work there Kahrman. Downloaded it yesterday and perused it this morning. Keep us up to speed on future iphone apps.

+1. I've been through the HCP course twice, once for me and the second time some years later to accompany my mother. Both times were with the same local Police department but with entirely different officers running the course. They all said essentially the same thing as Tungsten's quote above. Also, FWIW, the officer in charge agreed the current laws should be changed to allow a HCP holder to legally carry at Chili's etc.

I guess my problem is how to blend the top coat in with the surrounding areas. I don't want to refinish the entire stock and the wood itself doesn't appear to be damaged. And to boot, I'm not sure if the top coat is a Urethane or Varnish. Anyone know how to tell?

I don't think you're crazy, anal retentive yes, but not crazy. I also try to clean my guns after shooting them, though sometimes in the past it has been a day or two and apparently like you experience, there's that nagging feeling that I must get to them. To me, cleaning them up after a day at the range is all part of the fun and enjoyment of the hobby. I do have a .22 Thompson Center Rifle I bought from Kahrman last year that I shoot in the backyard weekly on average that gets cleaned every once in a while. Other than that, all of mine are sparkling clean all of the time .

Bump- Surely somebody has a suggestion?????:-\

This past Friday while at the Tn Clay target Complex, I clumsily marred up my buddies stock by dropping another gun which hit his resting on the stand. It has a high gloss finish and there are a couple of sizeable nicks in this topcoat however the wood below appears to be damaged very little if any and thank goodness there wasn't any other damage.Even though he said not to worry about it, I want to have it repaired as the gun is perfect otherwise. 1. Can anyone recommend a person in the Nashville area that can repair this wood stock? 2. Has anyone successfully repaired something like this themselves? (Remember, the gun is not mine so the repair must be 1st rate )

My guess is he won't because he will not play in the NFL again if he gets convicted of the two weapons charges and serves jail time. I believe the D.A. is looking for jail time in his case as to make the statement that no one is above the law in New York.

You sound like me! The pistols I've been eying are M&P .45, XDM .40, & G19 and oh yeah, a S&W mod 60 in .357 and did I mention maybe a Sig 229? I've also been eyeing a Rem 700 BDL in .270 and contemplating putting together a long range AR (20" bull barrel). Hopefully I'll have a good year and can get at least a few of them!

I by no means am a Burris fan but what relevance is the suitcase full of money? Yes he is a dumba$$ for not getting a safe and properly storing the money but either way, now he is a prime target for a home invasion/robbery/burglary, and he has NO guns! His family's safety is now seriously in jeopardy. The police should be held responsible for mentioning the cash in the first place.

To the OP, Yes. However, I only get paid what my customers are willing to pay me. If the construction Indusry stays on the decline, then my salary will follow. As an example, My partner and I have always taken a Christmas Bonus, even if it was just a few thousand dollars. This year we are taking $0.
-
Have to work all day today and at least half the day on Christmas Eve. Should probably work the day after and Saturday but won't since my dad is coming in. I work for myself (Partner and I own the company) and two weeks ago we were out of work and had been for almost a month. We are in the Construction Industry and had a couple of decent projects pulled because the owners financing dried up. Talk about scary when all you keep hearing is doom and gloom every time you turn on the news. Thank you Mr. Bush, Mr. Obama and Mrs. Pelosi but we (the company and family) have done the responsible thing and saved for just such occurrences so please keep any bailout you might have given me and just don't raise my taxes since I'm not asking ( me holding my breath ). Anyway, It is a good day so far as I'm still alive and I have enough work now to get me through January so having to work today and tomorrow aint so bad......

Yes, I understand. It would always be in the back of my mind as well. However, the XD apparently has been a very reliable gun for MANY so that has to count for something.

Man, I never thought about having the driver take it. I have a Fed-Ex account at the office so that's definately the way it's going next time. Did they give you a reciept or something when they picked it up?
-
I have shipped Handguns TO FFL's in the past Exactly as Nsnate stated EXCEPT I never had a copy of the recipients FFL. I packaged it up, took it to Fed-Ex and told the lady at the counter it was a firearm. She verified it was being sent Next Day Air and that was it. With insurance, I think it was $45 the last time if I'm not mistaken.

So has TDOS always required "all firearms instructors requiring them to complete and return a copy of a Handgun Safety School Class Roster within 24 hours of the completion of a handgun permit certification class,"
-
Yeah, I just love it when a .44 mag is next to me at the range........ Very nice Gun, Merry Christmas!

I've also seen people with Full Auto's at the Stones River TWRA Range as well. http://www.state.tn.us/twra/stoneshunted.html

Here is the response I recieved back from my Rep, Susan Lynn: Dear Friends, The NRA has issued an alert about the Tennessee Department Safety and gun registration. I called the Department of Safety this morning to find out more about this. I have received a reply and sent the reply to the NRA for their comments. Lisa Knight, assistant director of Handgun Carry Permits at the TN Department of Safety stated that her office is in the process of issuing retraction letters regarding the requirement of serial numbers from carry permit instructors in the rosters that are required from each school. TDOS is aware that the requirement of serial numbers could be construed as an attempt to create a handgun registry which, while not the department's intent, is nonetheless unacceptable under the law. So they are communicating their intentions not to require serial numbers. School rosters are allowable under the TDOS' Rules and Regulations (1340-2-3-.03G) and require the student's name, and the make and model of the weapon with which they trained (which often is the school's weapon, as many schools will not allow a first-time student to train with their own weapon). The caliber is not required information. Make and model of a student's training weapon is information that has always been required on certificates, so it is not newly required information. The roster, which was created in response to a Department audit finding, is used to verify certificates that are turned in after the class. TDOS' Handgun Carry Permit office checks certificates against school rosters as a part of identifying false certificates. Please contact me if you have any questions. Most sincerely, Susan Lynn NRA Alert:
