I have had excellent service from VZ Grips 1911 Pistol Grips

I absolutely love the 1911 platform. It is in my opinion one of the, if not THE best shooting weapon out there. I own two currently and treasure them both. Although I have carried a 1911 a few times, I typically carry modern plastics: H&K, M&P and lately a Glock G36. They are extremely reliable and very practical. I must agree with the OP.

I stand corrected regarding my comments above. Apparently Ruger's new SR-1911 has an integrally cast plunger tube. Although I know this has been done before, I can't recall who (brand) did it and I applaud Ruger's effort to fix this.

Bummer. Someone once told me the plunger tube attachment was the worst part of JMB's design, but in 100 years no one has come up with a better solution.

Most High School kids I know could have done better....

We're getting ready to send the daughter off to college next month. We bought a Mac Book Pro for her high school graduation and I was wondering if we should get Microsoft Office for Mac, or iWork. A friend who is “a Mac†says spend the extra and get both. What do you Mac guys say?

I have flown with pistols on both SouthWest and Delta without problems. nysos is correct, you do NOT have to use TSA locks on Gun Case and I'd recommend you not as well.

For long term storage and weight consideration, I must agree. But again, be sure to use Cal-Hypo (Calcium Hypochlorite) as MOST pool shock you see in bags are Dichlor. Cal-Hypo's by product is calcium. Also be sure it doesn't say "Dual Action" or contain copper.

Only if you don't have bleach. Powdered pool shock (generally Dichloroisocyanuric acid) has cyanuric acid, aka stabilizer, and some have copper, be sure to read the label. Others are based off of calcium or lithium. If I had a choice of the 3, I'd use cal-hypo first. Bleach is a much better option, although not as stable (If left in sunlight, it will will degrade rapidly) It's only real by-product is salt.
