How do I find out if/where I can shoot on my land?
Tempest455 replied to stahlmangc's topic in Handguns
Go to the local police dept or sheriff that patrols the area and ask. I did the same thing in Trousdale County when I bought land earlier this year. Davidson may be more strict regarding discharge of a firearm. Not sure how many acres you are looking at. -
A buddy was over today and we were working on his GTO. In between the car I was cleaning an AR-15 and a Mosin 91/30 in the garage. My kids yell down to the garage, “Dad there is a guy at the doorâ€. I walk around and ask him how I can help him. The first thing out of his mouth is, “you guys are really hard to get a hold ofâ€. I’m thinking no *****, that’s by design. He proceeds to tell me about all this stuff for my kid’s school that my wife would like (?) and I tell him, “no thanks, I’m busy at the moment.†He tries to hand it to me and I said, “no I’m in the middle of something, you keep that.†He says, “well I was talking to your neighbor Karen…†I said, “no thanks, I’m busy†for the 3rd time. He get’s the picture and speeds off. I told my wife about this later and we agreed it would have been pretty funny had he come around to the garage just minutes before. This happened to me once before 2 years ago w/ a guy selling school stuff but he knew my kids names. Call me paranoid but when a complete stranger blurts out my kids names on the front lawn, you are 5 seconds away form a serious problem. What the hell is with people nowadays??? Soliciting on what should be a holiday for most.

Early results of SCOTUS McDonald ruling

Wow! I'm shocked. I lived in WI for 37 years. An old governor back in the late 70’s called the capitol of WI, Madison, WI (“70 square miles surrounded by reality!”) My past experience has been, WI is a very socialist and un-gun friendly state. Will be interesting to see were this goes from here. -
Party w/ the neighbors: 12 racks of ribs 3 shopping bags of fireworks 12 ga shotgun blanks 1/2 barrel of beer Assorted things that make lots of noise Shooting off our deck Should be fun!

Yes an option but not for me! I chose to make mine accurate as possible without the bayo. Mojo sights will make them pretty accurate for Milsurp ammo.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad I looked at some stores rather than just buying on-line. I compared various models an asked questions of each model. I ended up with a Bushnell that fit my objectives. Interestingly enough, I compared it to a much higher priced Leupold scope and it was much sharper and brighter.

Agree with all above. But since nobody mentioned it yet, they also typically shoot high and usually not center at first. Some slight adjustment with the front sights makes them even more fun to shoot whan you can actually hit something at 100Y.

Under $200. Any input???

Also on the older models with an open cylinder, with a hang fire, you shoot your hand!!!

I use ARP moly assembly lube on the slide of my semi-auto's.

They need to move the Knob Creek event there!

From my rental next month at Panama City: "Currently, Panama City has not been impacted by the oil spill. None of the current NOAA trajectory maps show it impacting our area. Panama City Beach conditions are normal. Normal as in warm emerald-green water, white sandy beaches and abundant sunshine! Please be aware that false rumors are circulating. Here's the truth--There is no scheduled oil impact, no dead marine life washing up, and the air quality has no "smell of oil." Don’t cancel your vacation--Panama City Beach is still very much open to the public and hasn’t had any impact from the Oil Spill. Matching ones w/ bayos in good shape are $200-$250 on GB.

Example: We went from the rifle range to the pistol range and my buddy asked if they had room and someone barked “no”. We put the rifles back into the car and came back again and there were 3-4 spots open. We get our lane and there was a guy right next to us w/ a “Dity Bird” target that had 4 small targets on one sheet. After waiting for the cease-fire, he put up the EXACT SAME TARGET scenario w/ the exception of (4) 3” targets instead of the same on one sheet. The lady (???) said you couldn’t have more than 1 target on the pistol range as someone might hit the wood target stand. OK…………How was that different than the guy next to me? So Asked why. She (???) said if someone is a bad shot, they may hit the wood on the target stand. So my buddy walks back the target and leaves just one target that is 3” diameter. First up, my 11 year old son shoots 10 rounds all in the black (on a 3" target) and better than most of the grown men to the left and right of me, right next to me. All the time, she was watching us. We looked at her shook our heads and left. I was not impressed with this place.

My S&W 586, 4". They are hard to come by in mint condition. Otherwise, all are for sale at the right price!

Old topic. However, I have to agree w/ many of the comments here. I went here for the 1st time on Mem Day weekend. I will not go back and my son said "please let's never come here again".

Look at McNair! -
I have the same gun in a .45 and it very well made for the $$$.
-
I expand that to any gun. Sorry, I like metal guns.
-
I have 3 bayos. 2 have decent machining, the other looks like it was milled with a screwdriver and a lot of Vodka.
-
Just a bit! Been around drag racing most of my life w/ brothers and friends. I got tired of spending mony on it but still love the sport and do a few projects here and there.
-
I have the Ruger 22/45 and shoot it WAY more than I thought I would. Shooting the Aguila Hyper's makes it feel darn like a 9MM for 3X less the cost per round.
-
Feels about like a 12 ga w/ a slug.
-
Just like cars, best to walk away and sleep on it, try again tomorrow. Those guns are a PITA! Everything has to be done in a specific order. Good gun but really could have been designed a little more user friendly for take down.

Trousdale County, TN– shooting ordinance:
Tempest455 replied to Tempest455's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't think it's a problem where I shoot, it's a couple miles North of town. I did get some attention when we shot "reactive targets", however.
