  1. Yes they are open. It's not Owl Hollow anymore but CHMR. Every day except Thursday and 1st weekend of the month. CHMR
  2. I think year is most important. During WWII years they were cranking them out. I had a '42 91/30 and the machining was horrible. Prior to and after, they quality seems better. My nicest one is actually a "round", 1948 M44. The machine work and bluing is fantastic.
  3. Ditto on that. I would take a PRS over a current Gibson. Vintage Gibson's is another story.
  4. If you decide to use a scope mount on a Mosin, there is only one choice, "Rock Solid". For iron sights, a "Mojo" sight will save you a lot of grief making one accurate.
  5. I agree with many of Peejman’s comments about the flat surface, mico pits etc. Also a plain steel control was needed. With regards to letting them sit outside: By letting the plates sit out for 14 days, his was a simple method of replicating a corrosion test. ASTM salt spray tests basically just speed up the corrosion process by using elevated temp, humidity and corrosive salt. By blasting the plate with a corrosive salt (as in this test), leaving them all outside under the same conditions would just speed up the oxidation process.
  6. Great article on this topic: 7.62mm ammunition primer corrosivity test
  7. Mine does. It's clearly stated on the survey.
  8. Subsonic's out of my AR w/ a CMMG .22 conversion are very quiet! I shoot them off my deck at a target 50Y down the hill.
  9. Anyone know what time it opens on Sun?
  10. Just an FYI on this. I'm in the chemical biz and have access to various drums. A number of years ago I hand built a BBQ grill using the heaviest gauge available. It still was not enough. With the heat, it will rust out in a matter of years, depending on how much you use it. Mine lasted approx 3 years and I cut it up. It's a fun project, just a heads up on how long it will last. That's why the good ones are made from old propane tanks.

Now if the 200, 300, 400 range were done!
  12. That's what I use. Lasts about 500 rounds.
  13. High temp RTV silicone will seal it on the outside until you can pull it and fix it. I have done it many times.
  14. A few of my non EBR's.
  15. At some point in the process you should use water or Windex. The reason is, the corrosive material in the primer (more than likely Potassium Chlorate) is much more soluble in water than alcohols. It would be insoluble in oil, hence cleaning with water or Windex.
  16. Oh I can tell you horror stories about dealers and oil changes! A good buddy of mine worked at a machine/engine building shop that did a lot of repair work for dealers. The ASE mechanics often don't do the oil changes. Do it yourself.
  17. You have to be a member of a supported club. If I recall, they will offer you membership right there for GCA.
  18. I could comment on the safest cities (many in WI, where I was from) but probably would not be prudent. I met my wife in Memphis as well, 19 years ago. We went back last year and was shocked how much it had changed.
  19. I see them all the time. Mostly on near the AL/TN border. In AL they are everywhere.
  20. I guess I’m not shocked by this. Milwaukee is one of THE MOST racially segregated cities you will ever see. As such, the tension is high to begin with there. The riff raff has been moving west for years there, now it’s moving into West Allis. Big shame as the state spent a ton of money on the fair grounds and they are very, very nice. Some of the nicest fairgrounds I have seen. However, you can’t draw customers when this kind of crap happens.
  21. Ditto on this. I poured my own at my last house and after considering every option, this was the best one. Just order the min and pour a little bit bigger. We did it w/ 3 guys and wheelbarrows.
  22. Thanks! It does, as I stuck to the 3 important C's when putting this together. Cam, compression and converter!
  23. My M38 will chamber any spent round I try. However, my M44 and 1928 and 1930 Izzy will not.
