  1. That is correct, liberals never stop. That's one of key things that makes them as annoying as hell.
  2. Just to add to this Savage topic. We went and tested some more .308 ammo last weekend in my Savage 10BA. To date the most accurate ammo we have tried in this gun has been Black Hills. That includes match grade handloads. The 168g and 175g Black Hills are about the same out to 400. Have not tried farther but plan to try the 175g soon at a further distance.
  3. Ditto on the axis. We also have one of those in .223 and it's very accurate as well. However, the trigger sucks (I'm going to replace w/ Timney) and the stock has too much flex. That is easily fixed w/ some expandable foam or epoxy in the stock.
  4. I have a Savage .308 and yes, they are exremely accurate. Savage is making some really nice stuff.
  5. Went to Montgomery Shooting Complex today and thought I would try my Swiss K31 w/ iron sights at 400 yards. I have shot my Garand here before and was pretty pleased putting all 8 rounds on the sillhouette using surplus Greek .30-06. Today I tried the K31 using Swiss surplus GP11. I set the rear sight at 3 1/2 thinking since it's set for meters, that would get me close to 366 meters or 400 yards. My son was spotting and said, "Dad, you are shooting over the target". I pulled it back some and was still over. I set it at 3 and was bottom of target. Made some adjustments and walked it up to near bullyseye on my last shots. We spent most of the day comparing .308 ammo in another gun, so I only brought 10 rounds of Swiss along. Considering I spent much of the shots adjusting the elevation, I am very pleased with the results. Overall group at widest point (top to bottom) is 12". The overall paper background is 22 x 28", which is much smaller than the life size sillhouette I used before. I honestly think the group would be half that once the sights were dialed in for the distance, which I will try again. Not bad for surplus ammo at 400 yards w/ iron sights. By comparison, I looked at my last group w/ my Garand and this is a tighter group even playing w/ the elevation.
  6. We are going up on Sat to the 400 yard range. I agree, probably the nicest range in middle TN.
  7. That's so cool I may copy it!
  8. I stopped and checked on mine last week as I'm over 5 mos. They said they are hearing upwards of 8 months now. That being said, they had one that was 4 recently. Luck of the draw.
  9. When you consider these .22 targets (actual amount mixed could fit in a matchbox) are as loud as a 1/2lb, pretty impressive.
  10. Never would have expected these to be as loud as they were. I have shot Tannerite many times w/ .223. This is the 1st w/ the new .22 targets. My 13 year old son is doing the shooting. The bag behind the target is approx 1 x 1.5", so he did a really good job shooting, considering he hit many on his 1st shot. Fun! Used a Savage TRR-SR with CCI Blazers. [media=]
  11. Ditto on zero problems w/ Blazer. It' the most acurate bulk in my Savage.
  12. Yes he is. My son likes that place best just because of him.
  13. Mine was $28.97.
  14. Just went through downtown Cullman last week and it's still tore up.
  15. Looking forward to it. Mine has been sitting in the case since March 1st, waiting on the approval....................
  16. Ummmmm...................It most certainly does!
  17. Savage TRR-SR Groups. 50 yards 100 yard group from a 13 year old. .900", would have been .500 without the 5 'O clock flyer!
  18. The TRR-SR is new.
  19. I have the TRR-SR and it's extremely accurate. With good ammo (and little wind), you will shoot sub MOA groups at 100 yards.
  20. Not semi-auto but probably the most "evil" that I have.
  21. Thanks, I will check out that model.
  22. Anyone have personal experience w/ one of these?
  23. Sounds like you had good luck w/ wax as well. As far as the clean vs. foul barrel, this rifle it does not matter. It likes a hot barrel but clean vs. 200 rounds, does not matter a bit. To clarify, it has shot best with Eley Tenex red. However, that's $20 per box. Waxing the Blazer appears to be a cheap alternative if I'm not trying for absolute best groups.
  24. Thought some may like this that enjoy shooting .22LR. I have a Savage TRR-SR that likes CCI Green Tag and Eley Red the best. On a good day will shoot sub 1" groups at 100 and sub 1/2" at 50 yards with the Eley or Green Tag. However, what about cheap ammo? I tried a bunch overall (Remington, Federal, Aguila, Winchester, CCI etc.) overall, CCI seems to have the most accurate, both the cheap and expensive depending on the fps and grain. Subsonic Green Tag and Eley has been best, but bulk Blazer has been ther most accurate bulk I have found. Many of the match grade ammo's are wax coated. So I spent a morning at the range coating the bullet heads with different coatings. In this video, all the targets are the same ammo, "CCI Blazer", only the coatings are different. I used bulk Blazer (550 per box) as the control. I also tested with 30 wt oil, silicone spray, non-stick cooking spray and carnauba auto wax. I started with the Blazer out of the box. After every 10 rounds, I pulled the bolt, sprayed some solvent down the barrel and ran a bore snake to minimize material left from previous rounds. In this video, the two left targets are just sight in targets for adjustments if needed. The 2nd from the left on top is Blazer, the next is the cooking spray, oil. Lower row, silicone and to the right wax. I shot 10 rounds for each but could only video 5 here as I had to stop and re-load. The oil and silcone seemed to actually increase the groups and have some flyers. This video is the wax coated rounds. It was clear to me, they grouped the best. Perhaps the reason the match .22 LR rounds appear to have a wax coating? Here was the group from the widest point on all of these. Blazer control - 2.60" Cooking spray - 1.90" Oil - 2.95" Silicone - 3.30" Wax - 1.80" *Update on this. On a better day the wax has now done a best of .900" at 100 yards with one flyer. The 4 round group was .500". Seems to be a good alternative to using match grade ammo for plinking.
